Having said that, back in 2004 I was on a chartered train heading north along Puget Sound on the evening of July 4. As we rolled along, we were pacing a Trident class ballistic missile submarine off to our west. It ultimately out paced us and sailed away. Incredible!
I worked on the BNSF NW division for several years a while ago as a switchman, did most of my yard work at balmer in seattle and delta in everett. These scenes brings back a lot of fun (and bad) memories. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate this episode. My family origins were Richmond Beach and Edmonds. As kids we flattened coins on the track at Richmond Beach. My grand uncle, Theron McKelroy owned what's now the Cabin Tavern across the street from the tracks. I later grew up in Magnolia Bluff over the hill from the Interbay switching yard. You could hear the sound of cars crashing together in the early AM hours of the summer while they made up trains. My old turf, so to speak.
That shot @24:50 is simply incredible. The shots following it as well. Being able to see 3 moving trains in an area with 2 tracks is just so cool to me
Train watched in many of those areas. You could find me often at Lowell and Snohomish by the Airport. I now watch Union Pacific trains in Southern Idaho. Thank you for posting this video!
Great video. I moved to the east coast three years ago. Spent 60 years in Puget Sound area. First home I owned was in Edmonds. Spent a lot of time around Sunset beach. But my fav. was living in Mukilteo for 16 years. Just looked at a pic on my phone of the lighthouse I took in 2012. Lots of memories watching this. Thanks!
Great stuff from from a great variety of locations. The westbound intermodal, with the 737 Max fuselages, was BNSF train symbol Q ALTPTL. (Alliance, TX - Portland). It picks up the Boeing cars in Colorado, including oversized component cars for wide-bodied aircraft. Those cars are set-out in Everett. The fuselage cars are set-out at. Interbay(old school), where the “Renton Rocket” (BNSF local) will haul those cars to the Boeing Renton assembly plant. The Q ALTPTL will set-out a block of cars at South Seattle before heading onward to Portland. That symbol runs 3 days per week.
Man, I miss the ol' F59PHI's on the Amtrak Cascades... Them and the F40PH's were a real sight to behold. Now, it's the SC44 Chargers with the F40's being converted to NPCU power. Still nice to see them though, despite their new usage.
Damnnnn! 7idea brings the best video content of trains and of transportation, wrapped into one, in this video and commentary. Thanks!! Enjoyed it in it's entirety.
And at least twice a year sometimes more the whole thing comes to a complete stop for sometimes more than a week when there is a landslide on the sand clay cliffs you see throughout this excellent video.
Very familiar area to me. Born in Tacoma, raised in Everett, and hung around the tracks (mainly Delta Yard) whenever I got the chance. Never heard of that one area being called Japanese Gulch though. Dug for clams right in that area and Howarth park, swam in the bay, and fished plenty too. I can still hear the bang of cars being humped in Delta yard in the middle of the night, some times very loud.
I really enjoy your videos. And growing up just on the other side of the border from where this was shot, it brings back a lot of memories. You should bring the same skills to views of passenger (and freight, of course) service south of Seattle. I don't think i have ever seen any footage of that. Thanks!
10:11 when you recorded a BNSF Tanker train, I saw a RARE Santa Fe Warbonnet Locomotive in the consist. Lucky You that you captured a Warbonnet in the Consist
Interbay is the station name (and site of BNSF's roundhouse, car shop); Balmer is the hump south of there, opened in the 1960s and pretty much not used anymore.

Hello!! at Japanese gulch that wasn't any Amtrak train!! That was a city service stop train service, not AMTRAK. AMTRAK was not written on that train either. 8/10/23
The Sounder is not Amtrak. Sorry if that is a little confusing. It is referred to as "Amtrak number - - -" by the railroad. I am assuming because it is a passenger run. Maybe a "rail" on here could clarify.
Trains, ships and planes! What a beautiful sub.
Yes. A trio of commerce on the move.
Sub?
@@darthmaul216 Short for "subdivision". Subdivisions are how the railroads manage their tracks.

Is “Balmer Yard” purely the hump yard or does it also include a wider expanse of tracks?
i believe he said that it contains 40+- tracks@@gregalanharper

You are truly blessed with amazing areas for catching views of trains in the USA
Quality footage
Many thanks

Wow Washington is beautiful!
Not so much anymore, it’s in decline due to…………..yep, you guessed it.
I am a Washingtonian. So when I saw this I was overjoyed. ❤
Tfs 😊
You forgot the whole, slide fence activation, sadness, track broken... etc. :P
Great video!
Another beautiful and “AMAZING” video! Especially loved the Lighthouse and Ferries”….
Hello from Ireland. Awesome video. I visited that area twice on vacation. Scenery, trains, ships (and planes!). Really enjoyed that.
Great video i love Seattle
i miss seeing the trains snaking along the tracks, and tug boats was born and grew up in the Columbia River Basin east of Vancouver Washington

Carkeek park, I’m a local railfan and that place is packed with awesome shots. Love to film there!

The night shots of the boats and lighthouse are very pretty

Wonderful Video !
Great shots!
Fantastic video! I pull out my maps and follow along!🙂🙂🙂
Beautiful.
Love the video, my drive from Milwaukee to Portland reignited my interest in trains as an adult and is also why I chose BNSF to model.
Great video Aaron. The closest rail line to my house. Thanks for posting. SR
Another quality 7Idea Production! Love your videos and looking forward to visiting the PNW in the coming month!
That was excellent.
My home town!!❤🌲 It's so GOOD to see the Sound again! I was there when the Kalakala ferry was still running. I've been away much too long. 😢

Grew up in Everett when the Northern Pacific, Great Northern, and Milwaukee Road were in operation. Did you see any of these Roads in action?
These are incredible. Thank you.
Sucks that the Rocky Mountaineer doesn't operate on the Pudget Sound mainline anymore.

I was in Seattle in May and saw the Puget sound yard while visiting Bremerton
Nice video. The lighthouse and ferry info was really interesting.
my first road training trips were along this route for a K train. its really cool to see. great video!
I'm looking forward to seeing seattle for long time and I get to go back to seattle

The warship at 0:50 is USS Somerset (LPD-25).
Nice video.

Good Videos🤗👍🏾👏🏾
Perfect video 👌
Enorme video, y otra más vistos desde España un gran saludo
Richmond Beach (the city) Washington is now known as Shoreline.
I love the videos by 7idea Productions. My only wish is that they showed the full train consist more often.
We're a great big rollin railroad
One that everybody knows
We were born of gold and silver spikes
A hundred years ago
We're a million miles of history
A-shinin in the sun
We're the Union Pacific
And our story's just begun
From the great plains of Nebraska
To the California seas
From the summits of the Rockies
To the mighty redwood trees
We're a thousand wheels of freight train
Hear the diesel engines' power
We're the Union Pacific
Doin ninety miles an hour
Bound from Omaha to Portland
Through Cheyenne and Laramie
We're a headed west for Boise
On the mainline to the sea
Cross the flats at Salt Lake City
On to Vegas and LA
We're the Union Pacific
And we've got the right of way
From the green fields of the prairie
To the blue Pacific shore
We deliver your great cargo
And come rollin home for more
On the backbone of our nation
You can see us make the climb
We're the Union Pacific
And we're gonna be on time
From the green fields of the prairie
To the blue Pacific shore
We deliver your great cargo
And come rollin home for more
On the backbone of our nation
You can see us make the climb
We're the Union Pacific
And we're gonna be on time.
I liked the two former California Zephyr cars on the OCS. The short dome and maybe a sleeper?
0:25 Woah!
I like train videos on UA-cam 👍
39:49 Just dated the video with that Dash-9 zebra cowl...

No
35:25 it's Sounder 105, not AMTK
I want to see you do portland to tacoma.

Too bad you didn’t mentioned the spur to the Boeing Everett plant from Mukilteo is one of the steepest grade in the US.
That Boeing Spur is featured in the Scenic Subdivision.
That 'stone' drawbar at Mukilteo looks suspiciously like a stray concrete post of some kind.
this is s pretty the fog and sun rise or set
18:14, 35:25 Amtrak?

35:25 "Amtrak 105 passes Japanese Gultch..." but its a sounder train....
Correct
That was a Drawbar
What the hell is the rocky mountaineer doing south of the border??
🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶👍😊😀😀😊😊
