Oromen animations Hi there, I'm glad my videos were helpful. To be honest the reason why I haven't posted very often is because posting UA-cam videos actually scares me a lot (and I don't think I'm very good at managing my time to make more videos hahaha 🤣😂🤣😂🤣). I have a lot of ideas for new videos and I plan a lot of stuff, so I just need the courage to make more and post more videos. Your comment actually encourages me to make more videos so thank you 😊👍🏾

Scares you? unexceptable😤😝. We dont all have to create cariers out of UA-cam chanels. You can take it easy and just pablish your animations . Besides it is your chanel. You make the rools and the scedual.

This looks like such a cool experience! I'm a high school student thinking of applying to this program in the future and I just have a couple of questions about it. Does the summer school only accept people who have graduated high school and have professional experience in character animation? Also, do you have to know any French?
P.S. I love your animations! They're so creative and really warm.

Hi there! Thanks for the question and the compliment about my animation 🌻. Answers below:
When I was there were had 2 high school age students that I knew about. They both attended lectures, but only one of them did the summer school assignment. Most people accepted to the summer school were currently studying animation in university (in their home country) or they were about to start university. It does help to have some experience with animation, but you didn't have to be an industry professional to quality for the program.
Also it's an English program so French is not required, but knowing the language can definitely help. I don't know French so I got lost the first day trying to find my dorm room. 😂😂 All the best and I hope this helps.

You're very welcome 🌺 I watch a lot of "ArtTube", but you're the first South African I've come across and it's so motivating to see! I want to create a comic book/animated series but haven't drawn in years. Seeing your videos has revved me up, so thank *you* 🙇🙌🔥💪

Hello, I was selected for this year's summer school and I have some questions and I hope you could help me with those.
    1. The summer school's duration is only for 2 weeks. The fees are 3200 euros (Plus flight tickets). Which is kind of expensive for 2 weeks. So is it a good course to invest that kind of money?
    2. Could you tell me the contents of the course like what they teach you and how is it overall?
    3. What are the plus points from the program and coming to Gobelins according to you?
Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.

      Hi! Congratulations for getting selected!
I was there a few years ago so they might have changed/improved some things - for the most recent info it's best to contact Gobelins directly. Brace yourself my answers are long:
      1. I understand the concern about the price. I'm from South Africa so the exchange rate from our currency to Euros is wild. The reason it was a good option for me to go to Gobelins at the time was because the university programme I was doing was quite weak. Most of the time my classmates and I had to teach ourselves animation from 1st to 3rd year. When I got to 4th year I wanted to attend some kind of exchange programme for international exposure and the Gobelin programme was a really good fit. I needed to go somewhere where I knew they were good at teaching animation. I came back so confident as an animator just from 2 weeks at Gobelin compared to 4 years in a university degree programme - for the first time I felt like a real animator.
      2. Please confirm the details with Gobelins for the current programme, but this is what I remember: They had acting classes, live demos from the tutors both in 2D & 3D - we could watch them animate and ask questions. Some of the lecturers showed us the current films they were working on at the time or their process of working - which we weren't allowed to film (that's why they are not in my vlog series). We also had a lot of time to work on our summer school project. Half the time was spent in lectures and the other half animating. During the animation sessions that's where the teachers would give one-on-one feedback to improve your animation as you were working on it. I used TVPaint for the first time (and I never turned back). Now I have a good relationship with the people at TVPaint - it has been very instrumental in shaping the style and pipeline of my studio. Also what you put in in what you get out. I put effort, I tried to apply as many notes as possible and I added a personal touch to my project and it was recognised.
      3. For me, this programme was a really important confidence booster and a confirmation that I am a capable animator. Even though I went to university I was pretty much self taught and I didn't know if I was even good enough or going in the right direction. It was also really good to be in a different country to experience the culture, visit museums, be a toursit, visit Disneyland (Although Florida is better, lol), connect with other animators around the world and get away from the stress of my usual routine at the time. When I first started working in the industry here in South Africa the fact that I went to Gobelins was held in high regard in my CV/resume. They even asked me to share my experience studying at Gobelins during the Cape Town International Animation Festival. Also it was a personal dream of mine to study overseas and I got to experience it with the Summer School.
At the end of the day it's up to you to choose what to do. I'm just a girl on the internet sharing her experience.
All the best and I pray you find peace with whatever decision you make - for me it was worth it!
      - Cabblow :)

Hi! How high are the chances to be accepted in the summerschool program of Gobelin?

    • @CabblowStudios
      @CabblowStudios  5 років тому +1

Hi! Thank you for the comment. To be honest I don't know if I have an answer for your question. I think it's a matter of looking at the entry requirements on the Gobelins site and then reaching out to people, just like me who went to the summer school and asking to see the portfolios they used to get in. I share my entry portfolio in previous episodes of this vlog series. I know the normal degree program at Gobelins is a lot harder to get into, but I can't say for sure who gets into the summer school. I think they look for potential and evidence of experience either as a student, working professional or even a self-taught person. If you're looking for other people who went through the summer school have a look at episode 3 of this vlog series: ua-cam.com/video/Mau6ra5qMLo/v-deo.html
At the very end I mention all the other students who went to the summer school as well and I include their social links. You can try contacting them through their social media and ask to see their portfolios to help you create yours. All the best! Hope this helps!
