I have to say that until I started watching UA-cam videos I never realized how lucky we are here in the US with access to art supplies. I feel so guilty that it is difficult for others to get the same things, or if they can the shipping is outrageous! I wish I were rich and could send stuff to everyone. Thank you for making me aware, I will try to be more grateful and to share when I can afford to.
So I've been subscribed for quite some time. But I've never really watched. I loved this video start to finish, and supply vids are usually the most boring. People seem to brag and get all boisterous over their wonderful, lovely long list of supplies. I loved when you talked about what you could absolutely take and nothing else. This is all good stuff. Now I must watch you draw your day. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I know about the waterproof ink for fountain pens. I use Platinum Carbon black for that but I love the look of inks that are not waterproof when I add water to them.
Thank you for such an informative and helpful video. I have walked into an art store and was overwhelmed and scared. Didnt know what I would do with any of the supplies. This really helps! You make it easy. NOw I dont need to worry about what supply.. and I can concentrate on the drawing
Thanks for sharing all of your goodies. I use almost all the same supplies. I found that I don't like the faint marks the Inktense leave behind. I also use fountain pens and the Hi Tec C Colleto and smudge the lines with a water rush. I love this effect. Keep sharing and have a blast in NY(I know you will)
Hi Dionne! With fountain pens you need to buy a waterproof ink that I think goulet pens sell (don't quote me on that) and the Coletto ink will run yep lol best get yourself some pens that are waterproof! thanks for watching!
For a thin, waterproof dense black, you might want to try the Pentel Brush Pen. You should be able to get it easily, it's very popular in Japan etc. Comes with cartridges so no messy refilling. Mine's still on the first cartridge after 2 years though.
thanks for sharing your yummy supplies courtney - also, i'm really enjoying your drawing videos. very relaxing and inspiring and fun music! i was SO excited to hear your going to visit the home of the sketchbook project in Brooklyn! i'll be sending mine in (soon) for the 2015 tour. they extended the deadline to the end of march. maybe you can take a peek at my daughter in law (jen meyer) sketchbook while your there. ;)
Thank you so much for sharing your videos!! I fell in love with the zig markers!! When I got them I was nervous about them being the clear tops... Glad you mentioned that in this video..lol. Can't wait to see more of your drawings!!!
pen to paper everyday...even if its for 10 mins...you will see a difference in your work, you will start seeing things differently when you draw. Thanks for Watching!
Thank you! Loved the overview! I ordered some Zigs before I saw this video because I loved how they worked in all your videos. Europe doesn't have the same supply brands, my Winsor&Newton watermarkers just don't give the same results but are really pricey.
Really informative video! I appreciate how you actually use them while going through each one :) I have been holding off on the peerless, but I think it will be my next big purchase, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for sharing your hobo supplies. I have a couple of the zig clean brushes, love them, want more. Have you tried the Zig Wink of Stella brush pens, they add a lovely sparkle. I saw you use what looked like a set of stencils, if I'm not mistaken one of them was a deer. Can you share the brand?
Hi there! the Stencils were typo stencils and I went looking for links so people could buy but they no longer make that set, when a new set comes up that is similar, I shall link that in my video! great little set of stencils to just keep on your desk.
Great video! Inspired me to buy my first waterbrush! I was also looking for the artline smoove pens. The us link you provided does not allow me to change mailing to usa. Seems to just be au. I'll keep looking though!
I know that I'm late watching this video but one of the 1st things that I noticed are your airline smoove! And can't seem to find them anywhere in North America online... (I'm from Canada). I was wondering if you had other ballpoint pens to recommend for mixed media? I would love to be able to write over what I make... but I don't find a lot of pens that would do the job... Thanks :)
I couldn't find any stores that carried the zig pens. Amazon has them but they're coming from Japan so expected delivery was at least a month. I'm way too impatient for that. I ended up ordering the Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. They come in a 20 pack for $32 so they were a much better buy price wise and with prime I got them in less than 48 hours. I haven't had a chance to play with them yet but I swatched a couple and they're really nice. Now I just need some of that yummy tomoe river paper to play on:)
LOVE your Draw My Days!! Enjoy them very much! Thanks for the supply list. Asked for some Zig pens and premier pencils for my birthday :) Did you get a Daniel Smith brand palette box? That's what I thought you said, but I didn't see one on their site. Having trouble finding a palette box that I feel confident will fit half pans. How can you tell? Some of the palettes I find online have wells but don't look like they'd fit those half pans (depth-wise) that I was thinking about ordering from that girl on etsy you recommended....
oh my watercolour palette box quest was a LONG one, I scoured high and low on ebay on art sites, they were either the wells like you speak of, or the cost of your first born! some were SOO expensive! I did searches with Daniel smith watercolor travel box and the metal ones come up but I see now that the website doesn't stock them, so you might have to do what I did, and just literally SEARCH like a woman possessed! They have half pan and full pan ones. and order the paints, you will ADORE them! Shandra is amazing and so helpful
Hi,thanks for sharing this video. But I'm wondering where did you get those cups hanging on edge of the cart? I feel like it's such a good idea for storage!
Thank you for sharing!! I love your drawings how about a video/tutorial on how you draw... I love your use of colors a demonstration on how to use these colors would be helpful for beginners like me :) ...
Hi, what type of sharpener do you use with your Prisma Pencils? I have tried many and I am not sure what is best since I experience break off or a not so great finish? I enjoy your work and videos very much! I apologize if I have missed you mentioning before in other videos & I have just overlooked. Much thanks in advance, have a lovely day!
Prismacolor makes a sharpener for their pencils. I experienced the same thing with other sharpeners before I got one. www.amazon.com/Sanford-1786520-Prismacolor-Premier-Sharpener/dp/B004ZDL0K2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472164495&sr=8-1&keywords=prismacolor+pencil+sharpener

So as for your video Courtney…..( and not the tattoo) I loved it. I haven't watched any for a while. Boy have I been missing out. Thanks for sharing all your tips my tattooed artist friend. ;) I can see I'll need a trip to the art shop….again….
What is the clear plastic you use in your peerless pallets? I think you said OHT but I've never heard of it, and I really need some that's flexible like that.
It's also known as acetate, I grew up when them being used with over head projectors in school. But in the crafty world acetate sheet will be easier to look up! Hope that helped
Hi there. I love finding artists from Aus and stumbled across your youtube videos while researching art journal-ling (something I'm kinda' getting into.) I'm really interested in those Zigg clean colour brush pens... looking for something bright and colourful which doesn't bleed through paper like most markers I try do. Could you tell me how much Dic Blick charge for shipping to Australia? I've looked but i can't find any info about this on their site. I've found a seller who sells them in 36 packs but i don't won't to invest that much money until I'm happy they're something that works for me. Any help will be much grateful. :) Also... jealous as all hell that you're going to the US and can access first hand those art supply places I can only read about. I'd say 'have fun' but i think that's a no brainer.
Do the uni pens smear? Are you a Planner girl too?You should get a ticket to GoWild 2022.I want to find a pen that if I write and decide to put some color on, it won’t smear.
Wonderful video Courtney, really helped heaps. I have some things and others on my wishlist. Now you've given me some more things to add to the wishlist! As you say, everything is expensive here but please do an art supplies video when you return. How long are you away? Have a great honeymoon!
Wonderful video!! Loved seeing all the stuff you use. Thanks for sharing! Off to shop! I mean look yes, just look at stuff I saw on your video I need NEED to now have. LOL Have a great rest of your day! Felicia =0]
