Excellent research and great presentation with some of the neighborhoods in the often bad reputation city of Oakland.

Walking alone wearing mask. You are reminding me of the dark times. Watching this video on September 2024.

@@akavaliyfree-man7100 they were dark times indeed! 😅 there are still folks out here driving solo with masks on.

I would call these up and coming neighborhoods, but they certainly are not the top neighborhoods. These are likely the areas where this real estate agent has listings. I live in Oakland and I know the city well. The "top" neighborhoods have houses between 2.5 and 5 million dollars. Far less traffic, far safer, and beautiful landscaping.

Hi @edwmac, "top" is indeed a subjective term, but these neighborhoods were (and still are) some of the more competitive neighborhoods in Oakland. Many folks (with a budget below $2.5 million dollars) look for neighborhoods with easy access to public transportation, proximity to amenities, relatively higher safety ratings, etc. I mentioned Rockridge/Upper Rockridge in this video, and quite a few homes in that neighborhood have sold for between $2.5 million and $3.9 million in the last 6 months. In another video, I'll cover the higher price point neighborhoods - Claremont Hills, Piedmont Pines, Crocker Highlands. Regardless, always appreciate another Oakland resident's insight.

Top five neighborhoods? But you don't have Oakmore/Upper Oakmore, Glenview, Crocker Highlands, or Montclair here, not to mention Adams Point, Chabot Park, Grand Lake, and Sequoyah, which are, by any objective review, premier neighborhoods. Well, yes, they tend toward the very expensive (ok, very, VERY expensive); but it's California, the Bay Area, and Oakland of Kamala Blind Spotting, and ,There, There (waiting for your revised edition, Gertrude). Well....Can we hope for your tours of these areas?

Why hello, and thank you for your comment. We have included many of said neighborhoods in future videos. Because Oakland is so expansive, it is difficult to capture ALL highly desirable and/or competitive (when looking for real estate) neighborhoods in one video. So much more to say, record, and share about Oakland. Thank you for watching!

@@livinginthebayarea : Points well taken. And Brava! In case I did not mention it, your vids are among best from the two or three agents who produce excellent, knowledgeable, and distinct first-person perspective pieces. Bien fait.

It would be nice to show on your maps which neighborhoods are crip, bloods, ese's... I mean millions $$$ for tiny houses folks need to know the affiliations.
