I celebrated my 1yr of having a double lung trasplant!!!!! I had mine on 4/19/19, I always wanted to see the procedure and WOW it so amazing. Praise God
I had a bilateral lung transplant 86 days ago. I'm doing great but life will never be the same. I just HAD to see what exactly they did. I'm surprised it didn't hurt WORSE! The scar is not pretty but I won't be in a bikini any time soon! Thank you doctors and nurses for all you do!!!
This is amazing. Surgeons are amazing. I was so intrigued how you fill the lungs with blood for oxygenation on without getting air to avoid embolisms. The answer is so obvious but Im so amazed that this actually works.
I had my double lung transplant 9/23/2016. Wow I didn’t know so much was involved in the actual surgery. I am so glad I found this. Next month I will be celebrating 4 years. Thanks to my God, my donor and all my doctors. God is good all the time.
My Trasplant surgery lasted 10 1/2 hours and spent 3o days in the hospital (which included 2 wks of physical therapy) walked out breathing 100% saturation.
My surgery lasted a little over 12 hours. I was also in the hospital for a month. I went from 6 liters of oxygen for 10 years to no oxygen. Praise God.
So very impressive! I've always wondered about the pleura and how it is repaired and able to manage a constant pressure variable while healing. The chance for a pneumothorax seems high here!
You’ll be in my prayers that a donor is found. I thought I was going to wait long due to my rare blood type but I waited 6 months. Just celebrated 1 year I had my trasplant on 4/19/19.
God willing. My mother has been on the transplant list for 4 years, and she just got called into the ICU 2 hours ago. These things happen, they just take time. God bless you.
I am now nearly 3 months post transplant. I was transplanted in Louisville, Kentucky at Jewish Hospital on 7/11/20. I spent 10 days in the hospital, and am able to do things that I haven't for years. God found a perfect set of lungs for me. I thank Him daily for the gift of life. These are a young never smoked or drugged pair of lungs. I am so humbled, and forever grateful.
Fascinating, I can't make heads or tails of what is what, all I see is viscera and red. Really makes me appreciate modern medicine and the expertise required to perform these types of surgeries.
jesus fucking CHRIST. even with the knowledge and steady hands, i could not handle the pressure of having somebody’s life at the whims of my surgical abilities. this is absolutely nerve wrecking
How can a body recover from this. How can heal and accept someone else’s lungs? What’s the margin of celular rejection ? What pain the patient experience afterwards?
They receive medication which prevents the body from rejecting a donated organ. I've heard they are kept in a coma for two to five days to heal a bit before they wake up. The pain must be severe afterwards but manageable with medication. I don't know about cellular rejection but one of the issues is rehabilitating breathing muscles. The body responds well to new lungs but you lose strength being in comma and doing that kind of surgery.
It's a lot easier to breathe after watching this. Like, no thanks, these lungs will do just fine even though there is plenty of silica dust in them. Not going to cut me open. no way.
From being God? No, my friend, nobody will ever come even close to being like God. He is holy, dwells in unapproachable light, and we ALL will stand before Him on Judgement Day after we die.
Watching this before my dentist appointment. I was scared all wee but now I really don’t give a crap they can pull my teeth and I won’t even bat an eye
I have had a double lung transplant because of cystic fibrosis. I had a clam shell incision which still hurts to this day. I wish I could’ve gotten this incision instead.Other than nothing has gone wrong and it is a blessing
Really happy for you! Hope everything will be great. Could you tell me, how much it took for you to breath in your own after operation? My brother had a transplant and I’m wondering
Someone I knew suffered from pulmonary fibrosis. She passed away and in the end, she was in a very bad condition. After watching this video I’m wondering if she could’ve lung transplant too. She was on trial drugs that really helped her for two years but anyway, probably the drugs stopped working for her. In this video, the girl had cystic fibrosis which I’m sure must be different condition but still it was fibrosis and her condition was related to lungs too. That’s the reason I’m thinking if transplant is a possibility in case the patient is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis.

Yes we do watch reference videos, tutorials and study about particular surgeries before performing them...after all we all are lifelong learners.
