Thankyou for posting another knowledgeable video sir it will really help those people out there who have their cameras and dindnt know what to do when it comes with this.
What a really helpful video. Thank you for all the info. If I want to shoot video in low light, with the stock lense, do you have a suggestion of which settings to use?
I would suggest getting some good lighting to make sure your shots look nice even in a low light setting. That said, use the lowest aperture possible on your lens. Frame rate 24 fps and shutter speed 1/50. Then you just have to crank up the ISO until you get the exposure how you need.
No. All you have to do it get all the camera settings how you want, and then select one of those memory numbers to assign it. Then if you have different settings, you can go select that memory setting and it’ll change everything back for you.
@@CamberFilmSchool I ended up finding your other video right after I posted, which explains it perfectly. D'oh. Thanks for all these, though. I have decades of photo experience but video I'm just clueless.
Hi, thank you very much for this explanatory setup guide, it's really helpful! I'd like to ask you what type of camera and sound system you used to record this video!
Thanks for making that effort! Its a good jump start, and easy enough to chose a divergent setting when you happen to know why you want it differently. The wrench in trying to follow lies in Sony blocking a load of things depending on the shooting mode dial, and every time you change the dial to a different mode, it kicks you out of the menu, so you have to click-a-clickety click back to the damned part of the menu you were in. If I could buy a Sony Camera with the Canon UI, I'd do it!
What settings would you change if I'm shooting real estate video? I have the Sony AC7 and the Sony FE 1.8/14 Gm lens. I'm a complete newbie so I appreciate any response, man!
The setting you’re shootings in doesn’t really make much of a difference. 4K 24 fps and 1/50 on the shutter speed is pretty much the way to go. You’d possibly need an ND filter (which I have videos about) since you’ll be shooting outdoors too.
@@CamberFilmSchool Got it. Just curious, why 24 fps rather than 30 fps? I'm pairing interior video with my dji mini 3 drone which I use 30 fps right now for video. Should both be 24 fps? Thanks!
I would keep them both at the same frame rate regardless of what you use. 24 fps give the most “natural” motion blur that you’re used to seeing in movies because that’s what they’ve been recorded in for about 50 years now. And tv shows in the 90-early 2000s used 30 fps.
All I have is a gimbal DJI rsc2 and I have a camera lens Tamron and they have it but I want to celebrate the video like a good result uhd 4k. Can you tell me the way you told the setting? I did exactly that.... next??
That video you sent me was 4K @ 60 FPS which the a7C cannot do. But I don’t like the way 60fps looks anyway unless using it for slow motion with 24fps footage. But all you need to do is to put the camera on the gimbal, press record, and start walking around…
Brilliant video, thanks. I use the same camera. Could you please advise on the best video settings if videos are made indoors using natural light only, but the light isn't strong enough so the resulting video is rather dark? A small comment/answer will be much appreciated, thanks so much 🙂
Hey, filming indoors doesn’t require any change in settings. There are 3 ways to brighten your image. 1 is to use a lower aperture (or get a new lens that has the ability to get down to f/1.4). 2 is to increase the ISO, but be careful of going too high because you’ll start getting a grainy looking shot. 3 is to get some lights which is really the best option because you can shake the way the shot looks to make it way better. Or strategically place your characters near lights to make them look good. On my short film “Bedtime” I had a whole scene where two people were lit with a practical light over a counter and it looked great.
Technically that’s a Canon term, and for Sony is labeled XAVC-S-I. But no, the a7C doesn’t have that option. You’ll have to get an a7Siii or FX3 for that.
I have a question, I've figured out the upper base ISO is 3200 for the A7C, but for the lower ISO I just cannot figure out if it's 640 or 500. None of the manuals say what it is, and I can't find any info at all online. Can you help?
There’s only one base ISO for the a7C. It’s 800. The easiest way to figure out the base ISO is to switch the camera to SLOG3 and go to the lowest ISO setting that doesn’t show brackets.
@@CamberFilmSchool Nope. In slog3 it goes down to ISO 500 with no brackets. And when you do the noise test, you can see the image get cleaner going from ISO 2500 to ISO 3200.
@jsparrowau there must have been an update that made the base ISO lower. But I’ve never heard of the A7C having a dual native ISO. The a7Siii & FX3 were the first ones to get that.
@@CamberFilmSchool it's clear as day, put the lens cap on view the screen or record at ISO 2500, then change over to 3200. You see the grain completely dissolve. But anyway, I guess that at least answers my question about the lower base ISO.
