Not necessarily. In some of our black communities we have “my mechanic” or “fix it man”. Sometimes theyre ex cons who can’t get a legit job or retired mechanics or unfortunately people on drugs but can do the job. At 71, she has life experiences working for her. She knows what she knows and doesn't have time for the nonsense. Pet names for customers is just wrong. I agree. The nickname was a bit much and her whole “if I wanted him I could have it” is absolutely not comforting, but I think on his end it really is just harmless. He seemed so smitten with her and spoke abt her with so much love and admiration. I think she has a lot of unhealed wounds which prevent her from allowing and more importantly trusting his love.
