Datsyuk Zetterberg Holmström Lidström Kronwall I will never feel for another NHL team the way I felt for the Redwings when all those guys played... As a Swede it was so awesome too see. I can tell you Detroit fans, you are by far the most loved team in Sweden and I think that will never change. I hope too see you raise the cup soon again. Skål!
Lol why would it be unlikely? He's 5th all time in Red Wings points, won a Cup with the team and a Conn Smythe. Was Captain of the team for five seasons and was an elite two-way center in his prime. There is no bad blood between him and the Ilitches like there is with Fedorov and supposedly Datsyuk. He will absolutely have his number retired.
+Paul David Lucas The author of the Russian Five documentary stated in his book that as long as Marian Ilitch is alive, Fedorov's number is not being retired due to the grudge the family had against him for turning down the contract they offered him in 2003, as petty as it is and how great of a Red Wing Sergei was. There is no such grudge or ill will against Henrik Zetterberg. He'll get his number retired sooner than later.
That's messed up! Federov usually still plays on the Red Wings Alumni team. Gordie Howe left the Red Wings, but no one would ever question his legacy. I see Sergei Federov just as important to Detroit's history and glory, as anyone else who's number is hanging in the rafters at Little Caesar's Arena. You don't have 3 Stanley cups in 97, 98, and 02 without him. You *totally* could have won the cup without Marian Ilitch, whose name is uselessly etched on it.
Lots of respect from the LA Kings organization, i think i speak for everyone when i say he was just pure class. His work ethic probably won't ever be matched. Good Luck and great retirement Z!
I still recall his 2008 playoffs being one of the most dominant two-way performances I've ever seen. He neutralized everything, and he seemed to have the puck ALL THE TIME, and no one could take it off him. Maybe he doesn't have the regular season numbers that other guys have that made the HoF, but man oh man was he ever a special player.
Take some class, add another pinch of class and then pour in all the class left in the bag and you'll have Henrik Zetterberg. (and this is from a Blackhawks fan!)
Thank you Hank for everything, you will be missed on and off the ice. A legendary era has come to an end. I truly wish you all the best for your future, you will always be part of the red wings family. Thank you!!
I miss you so much Z! Damn it's hard not seeing you on the ice. I'm glad your getting to spend time with family and friends wouldn't have it any other way. 1999 have loved you since always my favorite ❤️💙💜
Thank you Z. We will miss you on the ice, but quality of life for you and your family is always more important. Thanks for your years of effort, excellence, quiet determination and leadership. We look forward to 40 going to the rafters one day. Cheers!
Thank you, Henrik Zetterberg. For not only making the Wings but making the fans always hyped and energized whenever it's a home or away game. You will be missed but we as Wing fans or hockey fans in general, will miss the hell out of you. You are a gentleman on and off ice and I hope you can spend some quality time with your family and son! Again, thank you for being apart of the Wings for so long and sticking with them through the Stanley Cup wins to the hardships the team has faced.
Going to miss you Z.. Been a great time watching you from the start of your career to the end... Can't wait to see what you do next! All the best to you and your family.. ^_^
Best wishes and I hope nothing for the best on your next life journey, God bless you and your family Z. Thank you for all the great memories. I am going to miss watching Zetterberg playing the game but it was the right decision to make for his family and future. Hall of Fame career that is truley amazing from being drafted in the seventh round at 210 overall, incredible!!! On and off the ice Hank is such an amazing role model, leader, and hockey player. From all the work that he and his family has done to help those in need to being what a true captain is ment to be. He's s true class act who is inspiring and played the game right! My all time favorite hockey player, Zata.
Like Lindstrom and Holstrom, Captain Z is defined by his solid work ethic, his ability to mentor by example and his inner compass as a man. Captain Z, you are greatly appreciated and you will be deeply missed. 😢💔🏒
I'm just playing with you, Vickie. I knew who you were talking about. Lindstrom is the default in which many spell check programs go to. And all of these crazy Swedish names. It was so much easier when we had all of those crazy Russians. And no matter who it is, Don Cherry would surely mispronounce those foreigners names. Let's Go Red Wings.
It's going to be strange not seeing No. 40 out there on the ice. A special man and player who made his mark on this franchise. Henrik, good luck to you in your life after hockey.
As a KINGS fan, I always wished he was on our side. I have nothing but respect for him. Amazing both on and off the ice. May the RED WINGS retire your number with the greats.
We will all miss him he has been my hockey player crush for so long the team better not replace him with a bad player and who replaces him they have some BIG shoes to fill
Over-rated by some, under-rated by others. In any event, he was a solid two way producer with formidable skills in virtually all facets of the game. A top level talent who played admirably in clutch situations both for team and country. Although not in the stratosphere with Howe, Yzerman, Sawchuk, Lidstom, or Delvecchio, to Red Wings fans; he is up there in club history with Sid Abel, Ted Lindsay, Chris Chelios, Sergei Fedorov, Marcel Pronovost, Kris Draper and Brendan Shanahan; And that is above (considering longevity and contribution to the club) Hull, Hasek, Osgood, Konstintinov, Larionov, Ogrodnik, Larson, Red Kelley, McCarty and Probert. Top 10 Red Wing all time in my estimation, and that is amazing, considering Detroit is Original 6 and over 90 years old. Masterful!
Sorry Yzerman, Sorry Lidstrom, Fedorov and so on... But Z is my all time favorite Red Wing. This kinda hurt... You couldtell he was struggling a bit during this interview. Happy retirement Hank!
Thank you Z!!!! I guess Kronwall gets the C now? I'm not saying Kronwall isn't good but some Hall of Famers have been wearing that C for a long time in this town. I wonder who gets it if it is Kronwalls last year. The end of an era. Gonna miss watching Z and Pavel.
Abby can hold on to his 'A'. Though he's a heart and soul player, the bottom line, is that he is a 4th liner, and 4th liners don't wear the 'C', that's reserved for the best player on your team. I think this year, that they'll go with 3 'A's', Kronwall, Abby, and Larkin. And then next year Larkin gets the 'C', and hopefully Mantha proves that he deserves to wear an 'A'. I could be wrong though, it wouldn't be the first time. Or the last.
Justin is the only one I can see wearing it. He has been with the team for what? 10 years? Plays his heart out every night. Kronwall is retiring soon. So it is pointless giving it to him
All the swedes is soon gone :( Lidstrom, Franzen, Samulsson, holmström, zetterberg, Stefan liv (rip) Let Find some knew swedes, Resptect to Z Great player and person and Good luck in future Captain!
Nothing but respect for this guy. He will be missed. A True Gentlemen in and out of the ice.
As a leafs fan I truly think Zetterberg is one of the classiest players to ever play the game.

What about vancouver
Thank you Zetterberg!!!
I swear if I don't see that 40 raised to the rafters Detroit, you better!

Unlikely. I hope but unlikely. If that ever happen, 13 better be there too. They should raise the Eurotwin at the same time.

Who is this "LiNdstrom", of which you speak?
@@tinyb4165 My apologies; Nicklas Lidstrom. I should have Googled the correct spelling beforehand.
Not being mean but how do you misspell "LIDSTROM" and "HOLMSTROM" when they were red wings for 16+ years each.

Legend! Class act his entire career. Gonna miss seeing him on the ice.
One of the all time greats to wear the wings wheel.
Saw him play in Sweden the year he was drafted. Special
Is and always will be my favorite player ever. Best of luck in the new chapter in your life

Man this is the same feeling I had we Yzerman left. Sad but on top
Tom Warren only thing is that Red Wings were still good after Stevie left now there is noone. Larkin, but that aint enough
we will miss you Zetty

Awwwwwww, his time as captain was so short. ;*( You'll be missed. ;*(
So glad i got a Zetterberg Jersey this year.💋❤
Hes jersey should be in the roff becuz he scored the gamewining goal to the stanley cup and should also be a hall of fame

A 7th round draft pick to an absolute stud
So weird seeing early footage of him without the beard.
The thing is he still in nhl 20 as 70 overall
Music? Intro and Outro? Shazam didnt work.

JoelxShogun DT yeah, after Datsyuk left. Z and Kronner were the only ones left from that golden era.
