My mom worked on the ferry from Bellingham thru south east Alaska for 15 years. I would get suite rooms for free and hang out at the captain chair . Also grew up taking the ferry to travel for basketball and track .
that is so freaking cool that you did that...how many people in the world can say they traveled for basketball in the Alaska Ferry...Very awesome.
I'm glad I found this video! My husband and I are taking the exact same route to Whittier for our move in April and site seeing our way to Fairbanks
Thank you for making this video! I took it in May and am needing to go back ASAP. This video is is great tool for visualizing.
Thanks for ferry info. We want to do this in the next couple of years. Good to know you can go to your vehicle if you need something.
Went in May of this year. "Car deck calls" happen every 4 hours or so I think. I didn't have a pet, but they announce it over the PA when it's time. The last one is at midnight or 1, (sorry I don't remember 100%). At port you can take them out an go on land with them...usually about 4 hours. Unfortunately they do not allow anytime access to your pets and the car deck. It's a great adventure either way.
I like to try this route sometime! Thats really cool that you dont need to drive through canada if you dont need to with this ferry! Plus all the cool sights from the ferry!
How much does it cost to take the ferry from Bellingham Washington to Whittier Alaska
I’m not sure. Prices have changed a little since this video was made as well
Josh, did you go up there or is this Justin’s video? I’ve never taken the ferry up to Alaska. I’ve always driven the Alcan. The ferry sounds like an adventure.
This is Justin’s video, but it makes me want to take the ferry. Looks like a lot of fun
I am looking to move my family up to Alaska as well and we are most likely going to use the ferry as well. We have have a few pets, and I was wondering what's allowed with the pets on the ferry? Do they have to stay in certain areas? etc...
They have to stay in a carrier in your vehicle, and you are only allowed to get them out a few times a day.
@@mattg8787 it depends on the season and how long is your truck.in the winter mostly driver is free...
@@AdventureMen Wait... I read that you are not allowed to access the vehicle deck parking area when the ferry is en-route, so how are they letting people to their vehicle during this time (eg, when ferry is moving)?
Fun to watch Your little girl in a sundress😁
How much does a ticket for the ferry cost? And also how many stops are there?
It depends on your destination. If you go all the way to the road system in Alaska it’s at least three stops. And the prices change every year but around 800-1000 per adult.
@@AdventureMenis that including the room? How much would it be if someone camped in a tent?
I’m not sure. It’s been a couple years now. The prices may be on their website: dot.alaska.gov/amhs/index.shtml
I would rather see shorter clips of the ferry passage running at regular speed than clips that are ruined by running them at high speed. I made it to 2:34 Now I will go find some videos that show the scenery of SE Alaska as it should be seen--slowly.
Thank you for the feedback. I hope to make much better videos in the future
Best nya
🤢 Could you speed it up?!
