@@jordanyeager9220 mine are just still coming up. About 3 inches....so it's time to wait....if it's next year, that's OK. I planted many flowers in pots this year.
I love the videos focusing on a single plant! I love bachelors buttons and didn’t think to plant any in my new flower bed! I’ll make a note to plant in the fall 😊. BTW, I’m attempting my first raised veggie garden bed here in the harsh west Texas desert, and your videos about gardening in extreme heat have been SO helpful. I’ve rewatched most of them multiple times.
I subscribe to about half a dozen gardening channels on UA-cam and go through those from another dozen or so channels, and I have to admit that your channel gives the very best, most concise, and informative information on each of the gardening topics that you select. I live in the northern part of the country and won’t have a frost free day for another month or so, so we do have some differences in what we plant and not every one of your videos would be potentially as helpful to me as those from another channel. However, every single one of your videos that I have ever seen has always been done exactly right and I really appreciate the time and effort and thought you put into your videos.
Everyone who walks by my yard tells me how much they enjoy looking at the bachelor buttons I let them reseed themselves each year I didn’t know the flowers were edible 💚 I’m growing to add some along with nasturtium and chive flowers to my next salad🥬 Thank you❤️
Zone 7 (Oklahoma) this is a reliable cold tolerant flower. We sew them in the fall so they sprout. Believe it or not, while they stop growing during the winter, they come through freezes and below temps. They a wonder flowers in my garden. This I one of the first flowers I grew from seed directly Sean in ground.
I'm in Nebraska and grew Bachelor Buttons last year. They bloomed and didn't stop til about November. They also stayed green, although didn't grow, I was amazed at that.
Im so excited its my first year growing them and I winter sowed them.. they sprouted and continued to germinate through well below freezing temperatures! The little seedlings are ready to be planted out and it's still well before our last expected frost. Im just learning about flowers but I am seriously loving all these cold hardy annuals 🌱💕
I was very surprised how well my bachelor’s buttons did in SW Florida. They are still flowering in June from the past early fall. Too bad they’re annuals, but the seeds are cheap. I get 4 packs for a buck at Dollar Tree. 👍🏻
I have huge pieces of my garden where they grow and bloom profusely in full scorching blazing sun with the white wall shining back on them. They are 5 feet tall to my chest. Very very long blooming time.
im so glad i found your video. this year was my first year trying to plant bachelor buttons and theyre dying and i couldnt figure out why, but i think its already too hot. cause its been well passed the 2 weeks and theyre turning for the worst :(
I’m in zone 9-9b and I planted them when I got a perennial pack from a hardware and my grandkids planted it and it was one of the seeds in the packet so I keep them and have them every year, thank you Angela for this video. I didn’t think they are invasive. I made a mistake of asking my neighbor of this sissy pink and I have to get rid of it as they are messing with my roses. I didn’t know they spread like wild and their roots are imbedded deep 🙄 I have to dig every time I’m out to get it clean.
Hello! I am trying to make naturalized patches of bulbs in my garden, but in zone 10 classic bulbs like tulips and hyacinths won't work. So ma'am can you please make a video about flowering bulbs that can easily naturalise and thrive in warm climates? Thank you!
I tried planting these in the spring about three times, they never did very well. I don't remember planting a packet of BBs last fall, but I did make a little spot for flowers at the end of summer and the only thing that came up this year was a nice tall stand of bachelor buttons. I thought they were wild onions or something at first. They are in bloom now, end of Mar, early April. Not my favorite flower to look at, but at least they look healthy.
This year only my.batchleor buttons came up again..im gonna give up on larkspur and that oyla and others u direct.seed...im moving on to starting my sunflower and zinnia. No rain here too...very frustrating
Such a lovely information u give alway am a great fan I made a mistake by planting all together in big pot so now they r not blooming so tmw my first job will be to separate them u u think it’s nesassery to separate them or I will get blooms please can u take some of y valubel time to answer my Q thanku soo much happy gardening ❤🤗♥️😊
I’m in Colorado in zone 7 I have grown bachelors buttons for two years now and I like that they reseed themselves. But mine always end up flopping over and they need support. The stems of mine look thinner then yours in the video. They are in a sunny spot that also gets some shade in the afternoon. Am I not watering them enough maybe? I’m not sure what would cause mine to be flopping over. Thank you
They tolerate poor soil, but grow best in good soil. This is the soil I recommend: growinginthegarden.com/best-soil-for-raised-bed-vegetable-gardening/
They reseed everywhere and once they’ve flowered they look so straggly I grew them once and can’t get rid of them they keep popping up I don’t like them
Just started growing mine from a $1 packet of seeds and already seeing growth!!
Me too! So if they bloom in early spring and it's almost June, a waste of time....as it wont bloom?
@@leahrolan1265 mine have tall stocks and blooms. Sprinkled a little garden tone around the base of each sprout.

I have huge pieces of my garden where they grow and bloom profusely in full scorching blazing sun with the white wall shining back on them. They are 5 feet tall to my chest. Very very long blooming time.
Also worth noting- very very little care if any. They are the most lowest maintenance plant in my garden.

Amazing. 😊
Does it help to make them bushier by pinching them off like you would with cosmos and zinnias? Or leave them alone? Thank you!
This year I pinched some and left some alone, and they got big and busy either way.
Lovely 😍 💐💐💐

Best to separate them so each plant can grow well.

They can get top heavy. You could try topping them to encourage lower branching.
Do you pinch them to get stronger long stems?
You can, yes. I didn't see a big difference in the ones I pinched and the ones I didn't.
I have acquired bachelors button seeds. Is it too late to plant the seeds in July?
I'd wait until later this fall for most areas.
