My takeaway from this video is that increasing drop quality is essentially the same as increasing drop quantity, provided that you weren't already picking up every single item from the ground. Makes sense, I guess. You're converting some of the loot that would've been filtered/ignored into something that you would actually pick up, thus increasing your overall yield.

Yeah, rarity increases...rarity. Not quant. They explained a bit about how the loot table works in the patch notes where they buffed currency and limited gold drops. Gold comes in rarities just like items, but you can only see the rarity of a pile with a loot filter. So you can technically get a "unique" quality gold pile drop, which is just more gold. But gold is at the bottom of the table in terms of value, so with increased rarity you will get less piles of gold, but the piles you DO get will go from normal->magic or rare->unique, etc. giving you slightly more or the same amount of gold even with less drops. In that patch they also moved crafting currency around in the table values, but they function the same as gold because they're also in the currency table. Your drop can roll for say an aug, but that aug can get converted into an ex or your ex could get converted to a chaos orb. Most of the people saying they feel an "increase in currency drops" when they add rarity isn't because it's adding quant, it's because things that would have been a lower value currency like gold, an aug, or a regal are now exs, orbs, and divs. Great job with the spreadsheet though, nice to have the data.
I don't know about this.. Ziz said he knew a guy who got 6 divines in a map one time, so clearly this data is inaccurate and anyone using gear with rarity needs to be banned.

Hey Jim, I found 3 Nameless Seers today. They were all together, connected and next to each other on a side of a small lake. But then again I played a lot, I did like 50+ maps today. :)
i just had two uniques drop within 5 minutes. both were in a different map tho. switched from azak bog to infested barrens. don't wear any rarity. i think how they dropped is that i didn't die after killing 10+ rare monsters without dying. can't really show it but it feels like the game is also rewarding in dps and kills.
Isn't it possible that stacking rarity and tracking rare monster loot specifically is diluted by the rarity modifers already inherent in rare monsters? So the effect seems lower with your testing. But you then do possibly get a very noticeable bump in loot from normal/magic monsters. Just a thought.

It would be really funny if +% Rarity and Tiers has a non-linear scaling on loot, so that +100% does not have a noticeable difference on Tier 1, but will on Tier 15. Ok guys… Let’s clear up some major misconceptions with the IIR “testing” we’ve seen recently.. Given that map rarity is multiplicative with gear rarity, and explicit modifiers from towers and waystones continue to compound each other and this effect… there is NO POINT in testing white or blue meme maps which NEVER drop anything good in 10 hours of farming you get 1 divine 😂 I put next to 0 stock in most testing I’ve seen for this games rarity so far. I also saw the 80 white map test with 2 total divine orb drops saying 156 IIR is diminishing returns. Then why do I get 5-10 divs per map with 600 IIR and 0-1 with 200 on the same (area/overall towers) on the same maps? Yeah, if you’re getting 1 div per 40 maps in your testing, you’re basically testing campaign levels of juice 😂 I respect the diligence and thoroughness in this testing but… dude this is a completely different, meme tier game you guys are testing rarity on..
Edit: I also see your monster level is 65 which means you are missing out on the MAIN benefit of rarity.. every rare drops 5-10 tier 4-5 expert items… I get at least 10 divines of rare items from each juiced map I do because I ID the high tier rares… remove a couple hundred rarity and watch the item tiers plummet… not including this is not only neglecting how currency actually functions in Poe but even more so neglects the ssf player..

A lot of people don't realize that it's kill speed. I keep telling people stop worrying about rarity and worry more about your ttk/ttc (time to kill/clear). Try to group play as much as possible. You will get much more compensation with group play compared to solo. Get the boys together and test your tier strength first before just going balls to the wall.
It is entirely possible that some degree of rarity crosses some internal threshold where currency can jump 2 categories, etc. I am talking 600-700 +. Quantity outside atlas boosted breeches is pretty irrelevant because everything outside atlas boosted breeches is pretty irrelevant. GGG obviously knows the math, if such an issue exists, I sm sure we see a patch this week
The thing is that the more you juice your maps, the bigger this "small" difference between rarity / no rarity it gets. That's why it become a "problem" once the no-lifers started getting proper gear and juicing breaches, having all the atlas mechanic points and so on.

Also, possibly, going from a homebrew build (from the start) to copy paste the meta #1, spark or heralds, build. Oh they do, it is generically known how it works, but what multiplies by what and how, not so much. So we know that it rolls buckets and converts gold into other things the more you have. But how big those buckets are and how we can make them bigger we dontl.
There seems to be more videos coming out that item rarity isn't doing a lot for quantity of drops but rather the top end stats seem to get better. The conspiracy I have convinced myself is that casters simply get more drops (or at the very least parties have a stacking effect on drops). I am begging for crumbs to drop after 120hrs and 100%+ Item rarity. Party with my caster friends and get 10x richer in just a few unjuiced maps.

I think he adressed that with the white mob's in breaches. Perhaps there already is a softcap on monsters we dont know about? Either way its also tied to a number of mod's the rare has and the distinction between those mod's is also a question especially after poe 1's league when they introduced the combination of loot explosion mechanic's working together maybe they explored that further.

Got more divine orbs from regular monsters than from rare monsters. Rares usually just dropping more stuff, and most of the time it's just abysmal dogshit

Since when has rarity ever increased the number of drops? I've always understood it as it increases the rarity of drops, that's why you always run the maps with quantity.

I run 300 MF from 0 and could immediately feel the drops increase. I got a perfect jewelers orb to drop, they are more rare than divine orbs lol 😂

Jim, given the relatively small difference between 0 and 100 IIR, I would recommend only doing 400 rarity.

Sounds about right. I went to 320% IIR but i don't really see much better drops. Probably going to drop down to ~100 IIR and put more power on gear

They mention monsters have variable amount of Power in the Power tooltip, so maybe loot also scales in a similar way?
