If saints can change their abusive husbands, why can't we do the same?

It is very very hard and you will suffer extremely. It's like having a son who does what you tell him not to do. Who behaves horribly and doesn't care about mom's punishment. My older sibling is like this and for my mom, it is very hard to convince him not to get in fights and stop smoking. He also has a small mental disability which makes it harder but my mom tries her very best to change him but it seems impossible and she suffers daily because is scared for his future. My grandma had an abusive husband who not only cheated on her and got home at 3 am drunk but yelled at his children and was a bad father. She didn't want to divorce him and tried his best to change him but he also had a small mental disability which is super common for abusers. (Normally they had a hard past or a disability which makes them like this.) So imagine how hard it would be to try to change someone who has a literal problem in his head that makes him like that. Kids suffer extremely too. I see it in my dad so I don't think it's worth all this suffering. Just choose a good husband, get to know him before marrying him. And remember it's hard to be a saint if not the whole world would be one.

It is NOT a woman's responsibility to "change" an abusive husband. It's actually really scary for you to say that. You have clearly never been in an abusive relationship- and you should be thankful for that. I have personally never been in one either, but I had a best friend in high school/college who was, and I can tell you - men like that don't WANT to change. If they ever DO change, they have to come to that realization on their own. Please. Be more mindful of what you say. Maybe you weren't aware of how messed up your comment is, but now you are.
