I was so inspired by this tutorial that I made 40 post it note holders for my upcoming craft fair in December! I have to tell you that the little wooden cube is such a great tip! It really made cutting the tape so easy, accurate and frugal! Thank you for that. I now have the daunting task of adding the magnetic closures which I have never done before! But I did buy glue dots so I will give it a go. Thank you for sharing your lovely craft work!
I know this is old but I love it. I checked out your videos. I loved them all. I wish you were still doing your wonderful videos. So many unusual ideas.
11/5/24: This is absolutely fantastic. I was looking for stocking stuffer ideas and THIS IS IT! Thank you SO much for sharing this project, Jeanette...I LOVE it! 😘
If I used this throughout the year, I would surely run out of post it notes before the calendar ran out. I wonder if others would be willing to purchase another refill Post-It note pad and stick it down? Lovely gift. Lovely idea.
Hi Jeanette I love this video on a post it note holder. Especially love how you flattened the bead cap to use as part of the clasp. I want to case this for some friend's table gifts. Just stunning - thank you so much.
I’ve made 3 of these now and I love them! My first 2 attempts failed because I used card stock that was too thick the first time, then too thin the 2nd time. But, as they say, 3rd time lucky! I also decided to put a trim on the fold up part to finish it off better when you open it, so you don’t see the rough edge. Instead of buttons, I used stained glass beads in matching colours. Thanks for your post! 😁
I love these Jeanette. I was going to make desk calendars with easel cards but I think I’ll try these now they are so quick but much more useful. Thanks
This is an awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing and creative talent! Can't wait to try making this one! Blessings & Hugs from Canada!
Such a cute project that would make a perfect little gift. I love the paper - hadn't preordered it yet but it will be on my list now. Thank you for sharing!
Love this dsp project you designed. Hopefully I will have time to make some for my daughters coworkers. Will have to use the post-it notes instead as they say the dollar tree ones don't stick well enough. Teachers would rather have the 3M brand.
Thank you Janice! I had a little time this morning to list the calendar in my Etsy store. If you'd like to take a look: www.etsy.com/listing/719240482/mini-2020-12-month-calendar-pdf-for?ref=shop_home_active_1
I love these! I have made a couple! Thanks for doing all the work and creating those handy calendars. I used your teeny tiny calendar for another project and it worked perfectly! Happy Crafting!
I'm going to have to try making the holders the way you do. I followed another person's instructions for including a mini gel pen and the pen kept falling out. I had bought a box of these pencils for another project that I haven't gotten around to making yet. In fact, I have TWO boxes of those pencils because I misplaced the first one just before a trip.
Jeanette, i ordered another calander so i have paid for two & got one. The problem was that i didn't know i even had an esty account until i found my information today. I very rarely order anything off esty.
These will make awesome gifts!! I will get your calendar file on Etsy, however, what do you use to glue the tops so they can make tear off sheets for the calendars? Thanks so much!
Dee Wagner She mentions in another answer HAR padding compound. I don’t know what that is but I imagine it must be like a gum to keep it all together. I’m going to look it up now. HAR is the brand.
Hello there..thank you for the lovely tutorial. I was wondering about the magnets..can you tell me the size of them and where you've purchased them from? Thanks
The size of the magnets are 1/4" round and 1/16 inch thick. I purchased them a very long time ago, from a seller on Etsy. Sorry for the delay in my response. I just saw this question today. If you look through the comments, I've answered this a few times (not a problem), I just did see your question until today. :-(
Brilliant video that even I managed to follow... Could I ask you the weight of the designer paper as their website does not say, I think mine was a little to thick. Tiu guys work in weight and in the UK it's by GSM
Thank you lorraine! I don't think Stampin Up reveals the weight of their DSP on the package or the website. My guess is that it's probably just a little heavier than regular scrapbook paper. I could be wrong.
@@jeanettecobbgeomazingpaper4650 thank you, I had a go with one of my pads which turned out to be 230 gsm which I think works out to be over 135lb. Oops
This is really great. I love it. So nice for gift giving. I tried doing it, but I have a question though. The magnets and the metal beads. Are they just regular small magnets or they have to be Neodymium for stronger hold? And the metal beads? I need to know for better closure. I use magnetic strips and they are bulky. Appreciate a response. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Looking fwd to your reply.
Hi... ran across your video today.... love it! i have a question for you... where did you get the tiny calendars? i cant find them anywhere. HELP! winks... have a great day
Thank you Jana! I purchased the magnets from a seller on Etsy. Etsy has several sellers, and I purchased them a very long time ago. But if you want the same size as I used in this video, search for 1/4" round X 1/16" thick magnets on Etsy, Ebay, or Amazon.
I couldn't tell you for sure. There are a few variables to consider. How often the note holder is opened and closed is one of the main variables. I've never tested it. The note holders I have made for myself personally are holding up just fine after a year. I do notice that glue dots don't hold up as well on the ones that I have double magnets. I would guess it's because of the strength of 2 magnets being force apart so frequently as opposed to just the one magnet and the piece of metal.
Perhaps you might reduce the 1-3/8" scorelines to 1-1/4" on each side when you first start scoring. Then the width of the holder will be slightly wider to fit a wider notepad.
One more thing, none of these links takes me to the exact element that you use. It takes me directly to the Stamp it up page but then I have to go and find what you were using the main thing that I am interested in. Is those little metal things that you were banging on where exactly on your page do you get those?
Jeanette, i ordered a pdf copy of the 2020 calendar & i didn't know what you wanted to recognize me as who i am. As such i have never received the pdf. Would really appreciate your help in this matter. How do i get the 2020 calendar pdf? I did this a week or so ago. Have been sick so i put off contacting you. Love your tutorials.
Betty, You should have received an e-mail with a link to where to download the calendar. You can also go into your Etsy account and click on your avitar picture and drop down to Purchases and Reviews. Your link should be in a list of your purchases.
I used a padding compound. The brand I use is called HAR. After cutting, or die-cutting out the calendars, you would clip them together evenly and apply the compound to the top edge and then let it dry thoroughly. Also more instructions are included in the PDF.
The problem I’ve always had with those post it note pads is that when you’ve used it a few times the adhesive holds on the last page of the pad, but the rest of the pad comes off. Have you had problems like this reported to you from customers?
@@herbeeness No. I haven't had any customers complain about the Post It Note not staying together. If it should happen, it is not difficult to replace the Post It Note. Just adhere it in the same spot.
I use HAR padding compound to adhere the top of the calendar. There are other companies that make padding compound, but Har is the one I use. I also use office clips to hold it together while it dries. Once it is dry, I use a tape runner to adhere it to the holder.
It depends on the craft show. Sometimes you will find that people will only be willing to pay 2 to 3 dollars for small items. I had a $3.50 price tag on them at my last craft fair. They were not moving as fast as I would have liked. So maybe lowering the price to $3.00 may be what customers will be willing to pay for them at my next craft fair. We'll see. :-)
I use a padding compound. The brand I use is called HAR. Just clip the pages together and apply a thin layer across the top. Allow to dry 20-30 minutes. For added stability, cut a piece of chipboard for a backer for your calendar.
