Hi Duca and Roberta, I am Marco Del Porto (Teacher and Sailing instructor) I've been working and living onboard for two years, my first job was in Aysso (Schürmann Family's boat) and then after a huge catamaran outside of Brazil. When I started in Aysso she was at Pier 26 shipyard too, a lot of work, engine being renovated, reparing a lot of rusty etc. Watching you guys I could remember some moments. For sure you are doing a Great and hard working on Abutre (much more than me in Aysso), it is so impressive, you got a "dead boat" and making it alive, that's make me so excited to watch you. Hi Marco!! We are really happy to read you message. Aysso and the Shürmann family for sure are some how also responsible for us taking this challenge. They left our hometown on the year I (Duca) was born for their first circumnavigation and got back when I was 10 years old. I watched them arriving and completing the circumnavigation from my apparent window with my family. And after I grew up was when I read their first bool that I decided to convince Roberta we should by our first sailboat. That was 7 years ago, and ever since all we have done we to create the circumstances the we could somehow own a metal live aboard sailboat that could fit a family just like they did 35 years ago. Hope to meet you in person on day so we can hear your stories my friend!! And let’s keep dreaming that one day we will get “there”. When reinstalling use Lanecote on all the threads, it’s an inexpensive way to reduce the corrosion especially between unlike metals. eg. aluminum and stainless. And I really like the new name for your boat!

And I still say you should name her "Odd Sea" a play on the world Odyssey which means: "A long and eventful or adventurous journey or experience."
I think it would pay a fitting tribute to your friend, as it encompasses his name and is a play on words evoking adventure!

I grew up in Ambler ( Near Philadelphia). My house was always filled with exchange students. Something my wife and I will start doing. I think Oddlife is an excellent name for your boat and a great way to honor your friend.
