    Let's be real, here. Field goal kickers are hopelessly undervalued. The best are unquestionably the most clutch players in the NFL. Bear in mind - it only takes a couple of misses and everyone on the sideline is thinking whether it might just be time to cut the kicker. People make it sound as though these guys have it easy. Let me tell you - when the game is on the line and it's your job to win all of the marbles you'd better believe the devil is biting your ass the moment that ball is snapped. And at the end everyone is congratulating the QB!! Guys like Tucker, Vinatieri, Gostkowski and Anderson are KILLERS. Ultimate respect.

    Fan of both forms of football here....I know Car doesn't wanna risk hurting his foot while doing a promo spot but c'mon man, boot him a good one lol. Nothing really puts a field goal into perspective like standing behind the kicker while he launches one 50+ yards and it floats right between the uprights. It really is a thing of beauty, watching the human body generate that amount of power in a split second and to such an accurate degree

      When you're expected to hit over 82% of kicks over the duration of the season it's important not to overwork your leg during the week. In fact, most kicking is done without the ball once the muscle memory is there. The off-season training can be much more rigorous because there is no risk of fatiguing yourself out prior to a game.

    • @Barefootkicker
      @Barefootkicker 3 роки тому +7

      @LEOMESHI It means exactly what I said. You play one game a week and of the 6 practice days, only 2 (3 max) are actually kicking the ball. Field goal kicking differs from soccer (football) as it's replicating the same kick every time. This isolated load is taxing to the specific muscles being used on a field goal. An NFL kicker these days has to convert over 80% of their kicks if they hope to keep job. Therefore, over-kicking can be detrimental. Thus why he said, it's not his kicking day- everything is regimented

    • @Barefootkicker
      @Barefootkicker 3 роки тому +3

      @LEOMESHI Well in the off-season training, most kickers will workout almost everyday (strength, conditioning, flexibility, kicking practice etc.)
      The workload is altered during the playing season in order to allow the player to be able to not burn themselves out. I played at University and played in a small pro league- the protocol is similar in the NFL too.
      I have Respect for both American football kickers and football (Soccer) players. Different training regiments, but both require hard work.

    • @ReyBeats
      @ReyBeats 3 роки тому +5

      @@Barefootkicker The dude plays one game a week and for 40 seconds of the whole game. If you're talking about isolated load, soccer players need to be able run and kick the ball for the whole 90 minutes. Heck, even rugby players need to able to kick the ball from angles and under pressure (without blocking). This dude only needs to kick the ball in front of the post and when punting the ball.
      Lol, ''not my kicking day?'' It really does not make any huge difference if makes 3 kicks...

    To be honest, kicking field goals in the NFL is a muscle memory thing. FG kickers are probably the most insecure position in the NFL because if you're not over 80% every year, you're going to be replaced.
    These guys play a highly specialized position and a lot of them are former soccer players. You can't just put a soccer player out there and expect him to hit 50 yard FGs with consistency.
    I don't care if you're a premiere league player or whatever. The Kicker position in the NFL is so highly specialized that you can't just put a guy into it and expect him to succeed. There's a lot more that goes into that.
