We had a devil of a job fitting the driveshaft's rubber boot to the engine. In hindsight, we should have attached this to the engine first and then slid the driveshaft through. Because we did not, this is what we did - you have to slide it over a lip, so it makes its seal. The problem area is at 3 o'clock (if your looking on from the back of the bike), as it's so difficult to access. The technique that we, finally, found to work is to fit it as best you can and then start roatating it anti-clockwise, maybe a quarter of a turn, until it pops itself on. Don't turn it too far as it will then detatch at the driveshaft end. You can then start rotating it clockwise, back to its correct position. You'll know when it's right because it has rubber tabs, presumably to help you fit it, and the one of the bottom is different as it needs to be fitted over a metal post to keep it in place. Good luck.
I don't think that we did it in the best way. Once we'd fitted it, we realised there was an easier way...You wait until you try and re-fit the carbs (if you dare take them off). You can mostly service them in-situ but we had to replace the little diaphragms.
We've not had to buy too much for this other than the usual consumables, for recommissioning. I think that most used parts are readily available on eBay. I’m not so sure about NOS parts. We did want some manifold rubbers and struggled to find them (we did not look for long), so bought some Chinese ones. They were garbage. We also struggled a little with carb repair kits, especially, making sure that they had the right parts. We wanted the small diaphragms. Also, jets seem a little more tricky that you’d think. We found, in the UK, that YamBits.co.uk were good people to speak with.
Hello i have a problem when tightening the rear wheel axe, the wheel seazes, this happened after swaping the rims, now both rims don't move when tightened
Not sure I can suggest much without seeing. An issue with the spacers? Could it be the drive shaft? Brake? I guess it's not the wheel bearings if it's happening on two wheels. Can't be much else...
Thanks 👍

Thanks for the videos.
I had trouble getting the rubber boot on.

Brake hub looks nice and shiny, did you polish it?
Hi Kevin. It's chromed. We gave it a quick clean up but it didn't need polishing.
What is the spare parts situation with the 535 like and especially the spares for the shaft drive ?.
