I’m not Mormon but have always been interested in this cult when I stumbled on Mormon Stories many years ago. I have to say Benjamin was the best guest ever I’ve heard. He was able to convey and bring that church down in just over an hour and a half. There are so many Mormon families on Utube now exploiting their children and making large amounts of money which is helping the church in a big way with the tithing. I know we’re all aware of Ruby and eight passengers, also the horrific Daybell case but there are so many Utubers out there that I would love it to be addressed.

South of Santaquin, west of I15 in Utah you can see a large polygamist community. I grew up going to school with a few of them, they are absolutely abused and neglected.

When Ben was talking about Brigham Young converting and collecting up new mormons and taking them to the desert where the government couldn't reach them (around 45:00), I was immediately reminded of Jim Jones and Jonestown. There's really nothing new under the sun, is there?
I'm so glad you had Ben a a guest. I have learned more about the Mormon cult today than I ever had before. Thank you Shelise, for all your work from someone who managed to get away from a Christian cult (Rex Humbard).

In order to come to terms with this, I reminded myself that my home country of the US also had segments of society that governed women must dress a certain way in addition to other slights against them as a female in their faith. It’s a dangerous mindset when people are brainwashed to believe that being a devout woman equates to always feeling uncomfortable.

Show us the plates! If I learned anything from my cult experience, it is that a prophet is not a prophet without props. So please, King Benjamin, show us the golden plates. Also Shelise please bring him back. Ben is hilarious and so articulate. I love hearing him express all these diverse thoughts and well thought out points. I also loved his exploration of the generational trauma caused by doing these rituals with such malicious roots. That is some seriously bad juju and I was glad he paused to bring it up. And also to remind my cult programmed brain to hold all beliefs loosely.😊
I was not raised nor am I religious. I can, however, appreciate what a wonderful resource your work is for people escaping cults and religion. You do great work. These people you interview are incredible. I wish everyone freedom, choice, education, and happiness.
I loved his interview. I live in Cody Wyoming, about 45 miles from where he's from. Wish he was still here! We need more cool, fun, spiritual people like him here! Thanks!
I had a friend who worked for a mormon bookstore in Washington. She was divorced twice to 2 dead beat Dads who won't pay child support and the church just paid her minimum wage. Just ridiculous! Pay tithing and go to church just to get shafted
I'm curious how Ben is related to Kody Brown of Sister Wives fame, as I'm positive he is. They both are descendants of Ebenezer Brown and lived on the family's ranch in Lovell, WY. They're also both very charismatic people, and I can only imagine how lively the family gatherings are. 😆I'm glad Ben is attempting to use his powers for good.
Your conversation about how weird the temple ceremony is reminded me about the last time I went to the temple in 2020 and had a major panic attack halfway through the endowment ceremony. Even though I knew it was "wrong" according to the rules, I got up and walked out of the endowment room, changed my clothes as quickly as possible, and left the temple. I have never gone back and have since left the church entirely. We can trust our feelings and our bodies!
That had to be stressful to be in that environment when you realized what was up. I'm so happy for you to have realized what it was and that you got yourself out of that! ✌🏼
Shelise, a wonderful interview, as always. Ben, you crack me up. I'm a woman, born in 1935, watching this on my phone, but don't want old men leading anything.
I am a former AUB member. I grew up in another AUB community in Utah, and never knew Ben. I am getting a kick out of his experiences and comparing them with mine. I can corroborate most of what he is saying when it comes to beliefs and practices. The one cup for sacrament thing was one of the most disgusting things we did.
No joke If this guy wanted he could probably be some sort of scam yogi himself out there with that charisma and story telling haha! We can just pray he is using his power for good.
Thanks for this interview! I was just talking about how there is a loud group of people on YT who think children should be treated as adults and that's a slippery slope that I don't agree with. I'm sharing this with everyone.
I used to say something like that (that children should be treated like adults) but what i really meant is children should be treated like people. Their feelings, thoughts and opinions should be listened to and taken into consideration especially when pertaining to themselves. Not that we should actually treat them like adults. Becayse there are people who dont even believe that.
Hey, we're voting for you! Love the idea of church leadership coming clean and telling the truth with sincere apology. We love your clarity of thought. Not sure of the full trickle down effect of losing one's voice, heart and gut instincts either. One family member used to say she felt like a 'Stepford Wife." Many in our large family seem shut down, I know I was in my youth. The peer pressure is real and scapegoating seems common. Yes, we need more folks to be their true creative sparkly selves! Great Insight. Thank You Ben..
This guy is great. The part about the mormon church stealing his family's money for GENERATIONS has to be such a gut punch - it's just so crazy, like you are paying for your own torture. And then on top of all that they didn't take him to the hospital when he was obviously in need of medical attention! Wow But Ben was so funny and just cut right through the heart of the matter on so many points showing how it's all such a huge fake.
I loved your guest today! Excellent speaker and very engaging. I would really like for him to come back in the future. ❤ His Linda Listen Moment was very inspiring and appreciated.
Im ex Mormon now, and when I got my temple endowments, I actually said "lol I feel like I've just joined a cult!" I SAID IT SO CASUALLY AND FLIPPANTLY! I was standing at the point and I missed it entirely! This channel has helped me deconstruct and transition out of the church. Thank you!
Thank you soooooo much CTC!!!! I enjoyed so much listening to BEN! He’s HOPE. How do you talk truth to people who have been brainwashed from birth, generation after generation, on a need to know basis?????? BEN & the power of JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!
I absolutely love this guy. He's hilarious but under his humor is a powerful and important message. Thank you for sharing it. And thanks to Shelise, as always, for bringing such inspiring people onto your show.
Yep, I thought, oh joy! The first time I heard that one. Not exactly Heaven, huh? Nausea, pain, and squished internal organs! See the big line of men signing up for that? Nope.
I found this video after finding his channel where he is reacting to sister wives. I’m so glad he is speaking out. I hope he does an interview on Mormon stories. Being related to Kody Brown is going to bring a lot of viewers
I've been watching a lot of your videos. Please have King Benjamin on again. He did such a great job of filling us non-former-mormons in on the history and was great at telling us about his experiences. Thanks!
I feel like the entire interview was a Linda listen. Ben's cynicism is perfection. Also, I am sorry for the lies you were told your entire life. I was lied to for most of mine too.
I just got to the part near the end where Ben is talking about the church taking money from his family for generations. This is something I've been thinking about a lot recently. My mom was BARELY scraping by when we were growing up and she was convinced for a long time that paying her tithing was just what she "had" to do and that if she did that she would be blessed. There was also a bishop at one point who told her that in order to get assistance from the church for food, toilet paper, clothing for her 3 kids, etc she needed to pay her tithing - among a few other things. So, their answer to a single parent who cannot afford to feed her kids, clothe them, etc was "well, give us 10% of your income that already is not enough to get by on, and then we'll give you what you need." By the way, the food assistance the church gives is through the Bishop Storehouses, which get their inventory from the church's own canneries, bakeries, etc which have some level of free labor from the members involved. My own similar struggles at the moment have brought that to mind a lot recently and it just makes me sick to think about this cult preying on desperate people. It's just gross and I hate it.
Ben is one of the most engaging story tellers I've ever experienced. Intelligence & Comedy, I could listen to him for days. Really great interview.

My crazy Pentecostal ex-mother in law said I had a jewelry demon and a make up demon in me! I told her well then they need to start paying rent!!! Lol
I know tonnes of Pentecostals that wear both… and jeans! 😂
Guess it depends on which ‘branch’
😂😂
your mother in law has a prosperity, gospel demon
@@devadii24yes. There are varieties of nuttiness. I mean, ahem, beliefs.
Congratulations on 100k, Shelise-well deserved ❤❤ Ben’s humor and warmth are amazing, and I had not previously seen him, so this was a treat.
this guy was hilarious! such an amazing episode. please have him on again ❤
"Folks, we are dressed up in weird clothes..!". I love his reality checking attitude. Hes amazing. Thankful for his voice
Just revealed them on my TikTok!
I was not raised nor am I religious. I can, however, appreciate what a wonderful resource your work is for people escaping cults and religion. You do great work. These people you interview are incredible. I wish everyone freedom, choice, education, and happiness.
Mormonism trains men to be narcissists and not all boys can become dictators and be mentally sound
This is one of my favorite interviews!
Ben is his nephew!
Fantastic! That was so interesting, educating and f'ing funny! Ben has officially done the longest and most detailed Linda Listen! Loved it ❤😂
Your conversation about how weird the temple ceremony is reminded me about the last time I went to the temple in 2020 and had a major panic attack halfway through the endowment ceremony. Even though I knew it was "wrong" according to the rules, I got up and walked out of the endowment room, changed my clothes as quickly as possible, and left the temple. I have never gone back and have since left the church entirely. We can trust our feelings and our bodies!
Congrats for getting out!
That had to be stressful to be in that environment when you realized what was up. I'm so happy for you to have realized what it was and that you got yourself out of that!
✌🏼
Well done!! You listened to your heart, your gut, and you have a voice!
Great interview! Huge fan of Ben. Love the way he breaks things down. He has a bright future. ❤
This was one of the best episodes ever! And the Linda listen was hands down the absolute best Linda listen moment! Absolutely fantastic! 🎉
“Protecting ourselves from feminists intellectuals and gays...” is sounding just a little bit like Pol Pot.
And a lot like every cult i ever heard of. They cannot stand questions.
Shelise, a wonderful interview, as always.
Ben, you crack me up. I'm a woman, born in 1935, watching this on my phone, but don't want old men leading anything.
Haha YOU crack me up. Thanks for watching!
Also this Linda listen was so fun! I was laughing the whole time! I know it’s serious but we gotta laugh right ❤
This guy is awesome. Thanks Shelise :)
This is Mormon History 101. Love it ❤
I can relate to the neglect, both emotionally and physically as the 10th of 11 children, plus throw in drunk granny.😮😅
Only child, here. Sending you a hug if you want one.
Only just watched this interview…wow! Ben is such a great speaker, and it was fascinating to listen to his life experience story.
This was a fabulous interview! Ben has a great sense of humour after all he's seen and experienced. Thanks Ben and Shelise!
Are you from Rocky Ridge
No joke If this guy wanted he could probably be some sort of scam yogi himself out there with that charisma and story telling haha! We can just pray he is using his power for good.
Haha so true
I love you two both so much; what a dank interview. Im in, Ben Brown! True Prophet indeed.
Thanks for this interview! I was just talking about how there is a loud group of people on YT who think children should be treated as adults and that's a slippery slope that I don't agree with. I'm sharing this with everyone.
That’s very culty AND a big argument that pedophiles use to excuse their crimes. And that’s why they are trying to legalize child labor again.😡
Wow
But Ben was so funny and just cut right through the heart of the matter on so many points showing how it's all such a huge fake.
"We got coffee. It's great." Now, that is true testament.
we agree! lol cults-to-consciousness-shop.fourthwall.com/en-usd/products/we-have-coffee-its-great
He is both hilarious and a great motivational speaker. 🔈 This guy is going to change things.
I loved your guest today! Excellent speaker and very engaging. I would really like for him to come back in the future. ❤ His Linda Listen Moment was very inspiring and appreciated.
“Hard pass” to being eternally pregnant😂 you are forking adorable❤️
Thank you!!! Would love to hear more!!!! Excellent conversation. 👑✨✨✨
Ben at around 21:13 just succinctly in a nutshell, articulated the major problem. They run a state in the country.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing that! I’m so happy to hear that it’s been helpful. These Cults are hidden in plain sight
How? This does not even reflect the Church.
@@ruelynng59
How do you figure that?
So happy for you. I’m not Mormon but I was raised in the church. Best of luck in your deconstruction! Sending much love and healing!
Great intelligent conversation. Thank you for the inside snapshot of Mormonism and the UAB.
The internet says it’s 17 prophets since 1830 so he was pretty close.
Damn he missed the “2 Mormons one cup” jokes at about 43:00
Thank you soooooo much CTC!!!!
Being pregnant FOREVER? I'm sorry, but I said, "One and done," and I meant it. 😂
😂😂😂😂
Yep, I thought, oh joy! The first time I heard that one. Not exactly Heaven, huh? Nausea, pain, and squished internal organs! See the big line of men signing up for that? Nope.
I found this video after finding his channel where he is reacting to sister wives. I’m so glad he is speaking out. I hope he does an interview on Mormon stories. Being related to Kody Brown is going to bring a lot of viewers
Ben is great!! Love the way he tells the story
This was really powerful!! Thanks for sharing
The most epic "Linda, listen" hahaha. GREAT episode, Shelise!
I've been watching a lot of your videos. Please have King Benjamin on again. He did such a great job of filling us non-former-mormons in on the history and was great at telling us about his experiences. Thanks!
Benjamin would be a awesome history teacher.
Another amazing interview!
Thank you for putting Mormonism into an easy way to understand the underlying beliefs in a fun way 🙌
I feel like the entire interview was a Linda listen. Ben's cynicism is perfection.
Also, I am sorry for the lies you were told your entire life. I was lied to for most of mine too.
I loved this episode so much. I laughed and learned.
"Prophet" Ben is a hoot! I had a good time listening!
Vote for Ben!
Thank you Ben for sharing your story.
