  • Heavy ground swell rolls onto the Aussie East Coast, setting up classic conditions for Shark Island. A few dozen brave souls hold on for dear life as their hurtle down some fast and hollow screamers. Lots of 'wave sharing' happening on this day -- but one drop-in lead two surfers to get physical... see what happens next.

    Bodyboarding / surfing waves on reefs, in remote locations around Australia and Bali. I love both novelty and big waves! With everything that's going on in the world right now, there's nothing like getting into some waves and surf to take us away from it all. Self-isolation in some deep barrels is a valid way of social distancing!
    I love exploring new waves in new locations and I love bring my viewers along my journey. Sometimes it get's sketchy as some of the waves I surf (shallow reefs, dry reefs, deep ocean slabs) get pretty gnarly. If this kind of content sounds interesting to you -- please drop a like on the video and subscribe so you are among the first to see my new vids!

    Hey Willy hope you're keeping strong in your convalescence. Got a question that you or anyone are welcome to answer: PP or PE core? Regardless of having read up extensively on the 2 mains i'm still indecisive. Where I live in South Africa, water temps range from extremes of 16 to 23 degC. I've read that PE's tend to soften out above the aforementioned max temp so am slightly concerned should we go above the anomaly and add to that the reduced shelf-life. Im an amateur, barrel-mutant popping (trying with varied success) the odd spin here and there when the wave decides to soften out. BBKing is not an option as they're not delivering to SA so a dual-core is out of the question - none of the online stores here seem to offer that option.
    Please guys, I plan to place my order on Monday/Tuesday so some counsel is more than welcome.

      I have bodyboarded 27year and lived in waters that are 7 to 17c all my life. I have ridden since back in the stringerless/channelless days and have always preferred PP, they are stiffer and faster. I have no problems with hard bottom turns in 7c water. I have tried a couple of PE boards over the years and just found them flexy/soft and slow and of no benefit. I would 100% ride PP in 16 to 23c. If I was in SA I would get a snipper with the ISS and change out stringers to dial it in.

    • @WillyPOV1
      @WillyPOV1  4 роки тому

      Like krusher said I go PP for all the same reasons. Faster and more durable -- in fact I hear it's common for SA BB to buy PP because South Africans bodyboarders prefer to buy boards that last them as long as possible -- and PP is the board for that

    • @GiuseppeGaribaldi46664
      @GiuseppeGaribaldi46664 4 роки тому

      Thanks guys. Yeah a friend got back to me and said PP all the way.

    • @hig3337
      @hig3337 4 роки тому

      If you're able to find a PP with 1.9 lb density kinetic core - they're most suited for the warmer sea temps. ( The 1.2 lb for cooler sea temps.)

    • @krusher74
      @krusher74 4 роки тому

      He head dived his body out through the back of the wave punch out back and let his board go so the buoyancy of it did not drag him over the falls.
