Just because we want more games with giant monsters don´t mean we can´t review them for what they are. For example: 2:02 the camera shakes too much to the sides, 9:50 The camera shakes a lot but the giant's animation is very slow. 10:40 The walking animation is awkward and the transition between each sequence is very sudden.

Than the "additions" like zelda hookshot...how about no? Also this game is NOT SotC... They could have differences... I do not know, also have smaller enemies? More focus on combat? Magic? Traps?
@Hans Christian Sebayang For smaller enemies i thought at cyclops, chimeras and ogres in dragon dogma (a game you could climb big enemies, wasn't as great as it could have been...). Not really man sized guys, but at least is something... But how do you fight them? Also, why zombies? :\
To everyone saying this game can't hold a candle to shadow of the colossus, You are correct as it is a video game and therefore lacks the ability to hold physical objects such as candles. further more even if it could i would strongly advise against holding any kind of flame close to a video game as you could severely damage the disc.
Three people made this game, Wow this is super impressive I'm giving it a try right now, I love it when the boss fights in a game is thrilling like this.
I have to respect this game simple on the shear size of it's balls, trying to impressing the fan os SOTC Also i like the bone and animal design of the....gods? Makes them seem alot like something made/worshiped by rural/tribal people.
And of course making it sadder is that it seems that according to little lore tidbits? The Gods were preyed upon by the people in order to get their powers..... almost makes me feel happy about the fact they were wiped out after their abuse of those poor creatures.
Been playing this game. It's absolutely fantastic! All I've ever wanted was a shadow of the colossus 2 and so does everyone else who played it. Unfortunately ICO will never understand and therefore fans have had to make their own game. Well done No Matter Studios! Well fucking done.
It's actually called "Team Ico", not just ICO. *Please, don't make that mistake, or else it feels like you're bashing that game.* :( I still wish Ico had gotten some kind of sequel, I really wanted to know what Ico and Yorda did afterwards. But, oh well... :/ At least SotC inspired this really promising game. For an indie game and for such a *ridiculously* small team, I'm surprised by how close they made this experience be to Shadow of the Colossus.
Would’ve been a cool mechanic for the second boss where whenever the player hit the gong-like target on the back leg, it would try to buck the player off. Just came to my mind while watching. Definitely would would have added a nice challenge
There are 2 things these boss fights lack compared to shadow of the colossus: good music and body animations. The music is essentially the same for all bosses and stages. They don´t change according to how you feel. You don´t feel heroic when climbing the "tall" or the "strong one", nor you feel desperate while riding the giant "bird". The giants also don´t react as much, especially the "boar" and "bird". I was expecting the boar to run around when you are on top of it, but it just casually walks around, even when you attack the weakspots it just hops once (with the exception of the head's weakspot). The same thing for the bird, you attack the stomach and it doesn´t even flinch. I kinda liked the worm giant, though.
The Game is in early access and has not yet been completely made. They will still finish polishing a few things and improve the colossi, just wait for some time until everything is ready and so make the official launch of the game.
@viziobrute30 Yes, but there are other games with great scores too. And some people can create epic tracks by themselves, so it isn´t a thing reserved only for great studios (David Orr and John dreamer are some examples). Praey for the gods is inspired by sotc, so it is bound to be compared to the source. I wouldn´t mind so much if the one track they used were good, but it is too repetitive in some parts, too slow in others and it keeps the "energy" contained. What I mean is that the song builds up momentum, but it only releases a repetitive set of sounds that don´t actually stand out, and then return to a very slow-paced beat.
You've also got to remember this is being made by 3 people, none of whom are exclusive in their roles. Pretty sure they're all involved in the programming and art and maybe the music but their tasks overlap. You can compare it to SotC all you want but unless you take into account the scale of the team vs the game, your judgement is going to be skewed. This game is in early access, and for what they've got, it's really something amazing. This kind of programming isn't easy at any level (remember how clunky and awkward some of the controlling was for SotC? that's because of the physics of the entire thing), so for a team of 3 people working off of crowdfunding, I think the result is pretty great. The music's not bad, either-- even if it's repetitive/not unique between bosses, it keeps the atmosphere for the encounters very effectively. It's unfair to judge it in it's current incarnation-- again, think back to SotC's beta footage-- not great. Let's wait for this game to be complete-- give it a year after that, then we can probably make a more fair evaluation. @@takezokimura2571

Good vid and so far good looking game! Just one thing though: could you please put early access in the title? Otherwise people might think this is the full game. No hate, none at all, but just a little request.
The set pieces, the character designs, and the gameplay look amazing! In my opinion it’s just as good if not better that SOTC! Gotta give credit where credit is due, this game is an amazing homage to SOTC!
People hating on this game but its still in very early access. Also I want to find out more about the lore and how the gods came to be. Seems like you drink from a pool of power, becoming a god, but stripping the pool. When you die, your essence goes back to the pool, and the cycle continues. But theres got tp be more to this story. Where you wash up, the frozen humanoids, etc.

HOWEVER criticism where your argument has something to do with shadow of the colossus doing something different or better, or that this is just a bland rip off or copy. just get out. thats not real criticism, thats just being a negative asshole. your not creative, your not spouting some praise worthy truth, your just an asshole.

As a fellow SOTC fan I’m honestly saddened that other fans don’t think this game isn’t equally as amazing. Games like these with giant majestic creatures are a genre of their own and a not very fully realized one at that. As Long As I Can See Those Good, Great Looking Monsters And Im So Satisfied Already, Just Like In The SOTC ...The Giants Are All Good Looking ❤️❤️... Great Job Though
For only 3 people making this it looks fantastic. I'd say the biggest criticism in my opinion is the music, it's not as spectacular as the more intense themes from say Gaius or Argus for example or as subtly menacing as the calmer tones from Hydrus or Phalanx. A better score (as well as more colossi but I don't count that as a legit criticism with how early this game is) and this game would be pretty much on par with SOTC
I am a SotC fan (it’s my favorite game as if right now) and I have been searching for games like SotC and this looks like exactly what I was looking for
Incredible game, and reading the commentaries I see it's being created by three persons. Really incredible. And love SotC, and I really appreciate this. Just the soundtrack, I guess, doesn't fit with the atmosphere that SotC canonized by this kind of gameplay. But anyways, it's amazing!
Da! And I really wanted to know what would happen there at the end after the bird! I must say I am impressed, I can only imagine how arduous it must be to program these things I really like the Nordic-like appearance of the creatures and how they are like tied together with string
I wonder, do you think we're doing a good thing here. do you think we may be freeing the gods from their earthly forms their bound to. so that they may do their godly deeds
Tbh like I would love to see an entire genre of games like this. Shadow of the colossus is absolutely amazing and was clearly and inspiration here, but I want more!! I'd love games that have more plot and dialogue and more complex enemies/colossi. Hope to see more like this!
This game is epic. The last one was just amazing. I hope there are more than just 5. Like after 5 titans you fight 1 god then before you fight the next god you a its corresponding titans.
Gotta say, almost an entire year since I first saw this video and the boss battles in this are still as impressive as when I first saw them, if not more. Whoever the creators are, they sure are doing a fine job capturing the essence of the Shadow of the Colossus. I mean, it's astonishing that this is still a work in progress, not a finished game! Look at this quality! I particularly loved the third and fifth Gods. The third is just hella creative and I love how it's almost a callback to Dionin, the unused Worm Colossus, albeit with obvious differences. And the fifth Colossus is just a callback to the Avion battle, except this fucker's wingspan is GIGANTIC!! Not to mention the method you need to apply in order to climb him is just *epic.* (jump off from the hand of a dead, frozen titan) I also really like the concept of the Fourth God, of him chasing you through the ruins, smashing them to bits and you having to hide. It reminds me of the Barba fight, but it also reminds me a bit of the concept behind the unused Colossus Devil, also known as Pholux. Maybe I'd only critisize the current execution. The debris falling from the smashed buildings don't give off a sense of impact. Also, I believe it would be interesting to make them deal damage if they hit you or at least make you lose your footing if they crash nearby you. But those are just my ideas, overall I just really want this fight to be improved.
YES a game inspired by Shadow of the colossus!!!!!.. YEAH BABY!!!!! i don't give a shit what people think a rip off or copy whatever... The game is INSPIRED BY shadow of the colossus I AM SO HYPED can't wait to play It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For those who complain.. Some gameplay choices are the same not perfect choices of SotC, like the charging attack is not great(here seems even worse), or the "stages" design of the climbing on monster (here more obvious).
Than the "additions" like zelda hookshot...how about no?
Also this game is NOT SotC... They could have differences...
I do not know, also have smaller enemies? More focus on combat? Magic? Traps?
@Hans Christian Sebayang
For smaller enemies i thought at cyclops, chimeras and ogres in dragon dogma (a game you could climb big enemies, wasn't as great as it could have been...). Not really man sized guys, but at least is something...
But how do you fight them?
Also, why zombies? :\
Lol all the butthurt fans of a boring game
To everyone saying this game can't hold a candle to shadow of the colossus, You are correct as it is a video game and therefore lacks the ability to hold physical objects such as candles. further more even if it could i would strongly advise against holding any kind of flame close to a video game as you could severely damage the disc.
Good one xD
Bruh 💀💀
This is whzt i calll high quality coping
Did n child type this😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂tf
Three people made this game, Wow this is super impressive I'm giving it a try right now, I love it when the boss fights in a game is thrilling like this.
I have to respect this game simple on the shear size of it's balls, trying to impressing the fan os SOTC
Also i like the bone and animal design of the....gods?
*Please, don't make that mistake, or else it feels like you're bashing that game.* :(
I still wish Ico had gotten some kind of sequel, I really wanted to know what Ico and Yorda did afterwards. But, oh well... :/
At least SotC inspired this really promising game. For an indie game and for such a *ridiculously* small team, I'm surprised by how close they made this experience be to Shadow of the Colossus.
@@MrDibara Shoot you're right! My bad I forgot that ICO is the game. Whoops
Would’ve been a cool mechanic for the second boss where whenever the player hit the gong-like target on the back leg, it would try to buck the player off. Just came to my mind while watching. Definitely would would have added a nice challenge
I absolutely love the title: pray for the gods or prey for the gods. Thumbs up for the dev team.
Very nice homage to Shadow of Zelda: Breath of the Colossus!
Impressive that this was made by three people alone
@TheARIONDimension I hope so, I´m interested in the game.
Takezo Kimura this game is more so like a demo but this is an early access and they'll put more collosi and improved the game soon

Why would you complain about a game being like sotc if anything we need more of them
The last one is like "if im gonna die, atleast i'll make a good pose for a statue of myself"
The ending proves that the dog is a god
And so are you
Plus dog is god in backwards
I didn't even realize this game came out! I'm just glad we got some awesome new creature designs.
Though having finished the video now it's kind of disappointing that one of the bosses is literally just Avion from SotC.
Awesome tribute to SOTC.

a turret worm that shoots laser projectiles? Now I've seen everything
Bruh the noises these monsters make and the bass it's just pure perfection I love the way they added those sound effects
"this is shadow of the colossus with extra steps"
AUUUGGHH CLIFFHANGER ENDING!!! D': NOOOO!!
Best wishes on completing this wonderful homage piece! It looks amazing in it's own right, and you developers are doing an awesome job with it :)
The game is on early acess, chill my gamer bruddas.
Early access is different from a demo/alpha/beta.
@@takezokimura2571 an early access and alpha/beta are basically the same, they show progress on whats happening in the development of the game. Demo however is basically a representation of what will be in the actual game (in my opinion)
@@takezokimura2571 Demo means the product is complete you just get the bits. Early access means stuff still changes.
Still is early access....
The designs for the bosses are so impressive and twisted and HUGE I love it :D it's been year since I've fallen in love with SotC, and it seems now that I have a new giant boss fight game to love!
I'mma diehard SotC fan but this looks amazing!
I can't disagree with you, the soundtrack is great too.
Colossi orders:
1- Gaius
2- Kyos
3-Dionin
4-Valus?
5-Avion
Was getting more of a Sirius, Quadratus or Cenobia(?) feel from 2
The fourth one rather reminds me of Barba, or maybe even The Monkey.
4 felt very Argus with having to use the surroundings to get on top of it.
My thought was that some of these were inspired by the Beta Colossi or the Colossi that got cut out of the final SoTC game.
This is the SotC sequel that we didnt deserve, but the SotC sequel that we needed. Props to the three guys who made this.
Made by people who loved SOTC. THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!!
akliroth vralin has to gone make
Good vid and so far good looking game! Just one thing though: could you please put early access in the title? Otherwise people might think this is the full game. No hate, none at all, but just a little request.
Finally a some sort of a sotc kinda game 🙌🏼🙌🏼we need lots and lots more of these
How was this under my radar for so long? This looks so brilliant!
the quality was so good i could literally smell them xD
Shadow of the colossus 2, yes I like it. I am going to get this game.
The game is cool, but don't call it sotc 2 cuz... just don't.
I didn't know gods had convenient off-switches. Handy dandy.
I just love how we got some of the deleted colossi concepts here, the worm, monkey's stalactite mechanic, the giant black bird soaring up the skies
0:39 is that the deceased form of gaius?
Ik right
It looks tht one God from Warhammer 40k too
The malnourished one yes

I love your videos on bosses there are so cool !😊 Nice work 😆
The set pieces, the character designs, and the gameplay look amazing! In my opinion it’s just as good if not better that SOTC! Gotta give credit where credit is due, this game is an amazing homage to SOTC!
Thank god i was waiting for another game like this for so long
People hating on this game but its still in very early access.
I just finished SOTC and I already wanted more colossi to defeat. Thank you human beings for more!!!
those complaining that it doesnt hold a candle to sotc.
does it need to?
its a tribute. a fantastically done tribute
its not meant to replace or overtake shadow of the colossus.
infact the very prospect of that you think because it isnt as good as or better than shadow of the colossus, that its nothing great, suggests you think shadow of the colossus is your lowest standard.
they love Sotc, so they made a game inspired by it, with love. it looks beautiful, it has its own style that sets it apart, its a radically different environment then sotc, and in no way do they clim it to be equal too or better that sotc
if you have criticism, that's fair, that's fine, its not finished but its still fair. HOWEVER criticism where your argument has something to do with shadow of the colossus doing something different or better, or that this is just a bland rip off or copy. just get out. thats not real criticism, thats just being a negative asshole. your not creative, your not spouting some praise worthy truth, your just an asshole.
Amazing. I'm not going to compare this to a certain well known jewel, but express my actual intention of playing it. To vanquish giant creatures is one of the most exciting pleasures to me, as I have megalophobia.
Everyone cries about wanting Shadow of the Colossus 2
Everyone complains about getting Shadow of the Colossus 2???
This is crappy SOC ,that's why, it sucks !
@@Somnivers SOC was triple AAA. This isn't. You complain about the triple AAA industry but then turn around and backstab the developers who are more consumer focus. Gaming community in a nutshell.
@@pixelcount350 Perhaps they could have done better than trying to copy a triple A then,so much work and effort wasted.
@@Somnivers Not sure how this is a copy? Does it use the same narrative or character? Actually do your research of the game next time instead spouting outrage culture bullshit. You may get somewhere.
@@pixelcount350 No need for any ''research'', the game looks lame, I don't care who developed it and why.Who care about the narrative, the running animation of the main character is so bad , I don't even want to know the story behind it.
Its a good game, don't really have any complaints but i do have a joke: "Can I copy your homework?" "Yes, but make it just a bit different so professor does not notice:
It's not copying if you created both games.
Defalt that’s the thing they didn’t make both games they were both made by completely different people this game was made by three people and The other game was made by a entire Company
You do realize that the guys who actually made SOTC, outright praised the team making this, right?
The comment section is full of people complaining about SofC fans complaining about this game and I don't see any of those SofC fans complaining about this game
Looks like something I will like!
That dog better stop getting bigger. Cause it’s winter time and everybody’s hungry when there’s no food laying around. YOU GETTING REEEEAL CHONKY MY BOI.
Won’t he eat you?!
This game Is what would happen if SOTC had a child with Dark Souls, And I love it!
This is a surprisingly relaxing to look at
*What the fuck!?* _This EXISTS!?_ *_How in the HELL did I miss this!?_* This is gorgeous! I mean, yeah, with such a small team, there's going to be difference in length and quality. It's hard to criticize for that reason. But they're clearly dedicated! While I sorta wish it was longer, with music as powerful as SotC, seeing what they were able to pull off, with what they had, is truly inspired!
MrAnon00 it's in beta, they're going to expand it, finishing the music, adding more bosses and fixing the animation hopefully
At first I was like this game needs refinement then I see it was made by three people and it made a lot more sense. They did a hell of a job for a 3 man team. I hope they get more funding and thus more man power in the future. I Praey for their success.
As a fellow SOTC fan I’m honestly saddened that other fans don’t think this game isn’t equally as amazing. Games like these with giant majestic creatures are a genre of their own and a not very fully realized one at that. I’m happy that this is an inclusion of said genre and would only wish people would show this game the respect it truly does deserve.
A team of three did all this as indie game developer myself I feel so inspired and proud good job guys | long live unity
I am a SotC fan (it’s my favorite game as if right now) and I have been searching for games like SotC and this looks like exactly what I was looking for
People complaining this is a clone of sotc..
What, MORE sotc is a bad thing???
I love this.
I love games like these, I can tell that they put a lot of hard work into this game.
I must say I am impressed, I can only imagine how arduous it must be to program these things
I really like the Nordic-like appearance of the creatures and how they are like tied together with string
It’s like that one game
light of the atom
this FEELS like a continuation to the shadow of the colossus
Dudeeee i never imagined there will be similar games to shadow of the colossus, this looks epic!
I am a Shadow of the colossus fan and i am Happy they got inspired by it!! I hope in the future they keep making Games like SotC
As far as I can tell, this game is perfect already. ♥️
This game is epic. The last one was just amazing. I hope there are more than just 5. Like after 5 titans you fight 1 god then before you fight the next god you a its corresponding titans.

Shadow of the Colossus is my favorite game of all time, so yeah I'm gonna play this!
I've wanted a SOTC sequel since I was 15! This looks awesome 👌
It’s not a sequel
This is like the opposite of SotC, there when you defeated a colossus, shadows were released, in this game it's light being released.
Damn, this looks sick!!
Lol these guys knew basically we weren’t going to get another SOTC so they made their own. Love it!
Not to mention the method you need to apply in order to climb him is just *epic.* (jump off from the hand of a dead, frozen titan)
I also really like the concept of the Fourth God, of him chasing you through the ruins, smashing them to bits and you having to hide.
33:44 I'm not the only one getting Barba flashbacks from the 4th god's fling-back movement
It's nice that it's made by three people but I'm not that surprised either. Good for them.
TEAM ICO praised the work behind this as Team ICO actually said its OK to have a game inspired by team ICO games so i don't really understand what's the ignorance is about.
Fun fact for others this game is supposed to show the love the creators had for Shadow of the Colossus. While having no plot like sotc it still has good survival, graphics, animations, etc to be a good game too. Plus other creatures trying to end your life subscription. I had been following the progress of this game for years.
Woah, I had no idea the “4K” meant the content!
It remembres me a lot legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver , I appreciate that!
Oh i really hated GIANTS but i really loved them. This game and SOTC are basically nightmare fuels for me sometimes.
This game is awesome, the creatures aren't quite as big as those in SOTC is, but that doesn't take away from the game. I love it, there is so much land to explore, and it is just a great game! I hope this studio can grow and that they'll finish making this game and make a second one too.
