Parashat Shelach-Lecha: Conscious of the Unconscious

In Parashat Shelach-Lecha we learn about the commandment of tzitzit . The commandment of tzitzit comes to teach us how to see what we can't see. The Sages explain that the word צִיצִת has a numerical value of 613 which alludes to the 613 commandments. The only problem with this explanation is that צִיצִת does not have a numerical value of 613. Instead, it has a numerical value of 603. The word צִיצִת equals 590, plus the 8 strings and 5 knots equals 603. We are 10 digits short of equaling 613. How could the Sages teach that צִיצִת has a numerical value of 613?
