Theres a huge lack of mechanic sims that are in the same game as a racing game. Like i'd play the hell out of this if you actually drove the rallies too and then fix up your car after
On the laptop screen where you go choose what rally you want to take your car to, there is a screen that shows driver mode, but it says its not avaible yet. So if they keep updating the game, you will have that mode too.
i'm currently training to be a mechanic, so seeing these kinds of games is really interesting because i can finally associate my actual knowledge with the things i'm seeing (it also makes Automation + BeamNG videos more interesting), it's awesome
It's honestly not a bad way to learn the bare basics of how cars work. Car mechanic sim is where I started. Obviously real hands on is the best way to learn but it's a good starting point.
Great look! And agreed, they need to balance the hand holding and telling you everything that is wrong a bit (or have options for it). This is one part of game design that can be tricky. In a real shop (especially one that's dedicated to a single car like this) I'm guessing most mechanics would have a system for laying out what's been checked, what's taken out of the car and so on. In this game because anything you pull off the car just disappears into a giant inventory list, it could easily become an absolute nightmare to remember what's been done. Rather than just telling you nothing, I'd like the game to either have a written checklist of what you've pulled and replaced or a table/tarp/something where all the parts you've pulled get laid out, and you can pick them up to repair, store or bin them from there.
I think the in the A class, from top left to bottom right, we are looking at a Citroen C4, Citroen DS3, Hyundai i20 N, Toyota Yaris and VW Polo. B class has mk2 Focus, definitely an Evo, maybe a Fabia WRC, and two Imprezas. C class has mk1 Focus, 206 Peugeot, either a Lancer Evo or a Skoda Octavia, an Impreza and a Toyota Corolla
Imagine this + BeamNG... Go out and rally your own cars! As if the damage model wasnt already punishing enough, you'd then have to sit there and actually *fix* all your mistakes xD
limit the things you can get while at the stage, as well as limit the things that can be repaired on the bench at the stage. Window upgrades to more rugged material and allow non broken but wore/close to failing parts to join a race(which would also allow for risking saving money one parts replacement).
The game pointing out what parts are damaged before you can enter the Rally isn't that big of a deal and if anything it actually a bit handy imo. Cause in real life (yes ik this is a game but hear me out) the rally teams will dismantle the whole car to it's chassis, inspect everything and then rebuild the car in between each rally So the game pointing out what needs to be fixed before you can enter the rally does that for you and saves you a load of time. However, I understand your point and where you are coming from
This feels like a good start, but I'd like something like this or what was that VR mechanic one,Wrench or something like it?I'd love this but hardcore optional mode so I can turn off the hand holdy stuff and go figure it out myself if I choose to
@kiwibirbin unless they've started on it again that got cancelled years ago. Edit: holy fuck I have absolutely no recollection of commenting this, but yeah, last thing I heard was that it got canned
I agree a hardcore optional mode would be good, or at least open it up to modders so they can create game framework mods to give us those kind of modes... also i got really excited when you said "your own car" but again they dont let you drive, which killed any excitement i had and any likelihood of me buying this title.. I want to at least have the option to rally the car myself.. even if its just super basic like CMS's driving test tracks were ... just if i crash it damages the car ... then they could have the ability for the player to hire drivers, start you with a free driver/co-driver so players have the option to not drive but also let you hire better ones... GranTurismo was able to make a Ai driver for 24 hour races back in the Ps2 era so surely they could make something of equal or better quality these days the only game that came close was 'offroad mechanic simulator' tho they dumbed down the mechanical part and did away with working on engines entirely which killed it for me... but it was the closest so far to them giving us the ability to drive, destroy and then fix the cars... IDEA: they could do a baja style racing game with this same mechanical aspect, maps would be easy to make since its a desert.. and then they could just have those "workstations" along the race, and just give players the option to be the driver or co-pilot... with their current game engine they wouldn't even need to make anything new other than some baja buggies and a literal dessert map which as far as game design goes is stupid easy.. unless they wanted terrain deformation but no one is expecting that from their games .. (simple just turn dust particles up so the dust behind cars obscures everything which IS realistic) They already have everything they need from previous games like driving physics (basic ones but still exist for a good foundation) from CMS and then everything else they would need exists in this "rally" game.. except the map though even i could make a greyscale terrain map of a dessert in like an afternoon.. with a race line through it and flat sections for little workshop outposts... EVERYTHING else they need already exists in their game engine and previous titles... The coding is already done it just would need to be adapted.. if i could code well (which i suck at sadly) i'd try to make that kind of game, but its the mechanical component aspect thats the hardest part to code and they already have all of it in their game engine.. its so frustrating to know they could make something so good, but they just dont ... instead we get "games" like this which feel like playable DLC..
Im just gunna put this out there.. i really strongly dislike the whole "everything is done through menus" in these "mechanic" games. Why cant you just give my an impact gun, and some tourqe wrenches and have the engine actually be a part of the car that you dont have infinite access to in a 3d rotating camera. And why do you have to go through two menus to move a oil drain under the car? just drag it over. And lastly, why are the body panels ina. Separate menu to the engine or suspension work? Its just so annoying to navigate.

Like they should have done it on Beam or a wrc game with this added into mix would make for an amazing racing game best of both worlds
Check out Revhead, it looks a little rough around the edges but in it you basically build/mod/repair cars and race them
@@Joshieboy42066 I really hope career mode in Beam has this eventually.

Dang if I have to fix my car after a round of dirt rally the car would be all red

This looks so much better than that abysmal tank mechanic game. Cant wait to pick this up.

Someone NEEDS to pick up where SLRR left off and make a racing game that has proper mechanics and tuning
Someone is making a successor to it named Street Tuning Evolution

To is like where 'to' go. Too is a synonym for "as well." Hope that helps.
