    Your masking demos are always very good Jim in the way you explain them. Using the grey sheet makes everything very clear in showing the different masks and how they can be used.

    The number one and main takeaway to remember when it comes to masking, is to remember this golden rule. White reveals and black conceals. Excellent video Jim.

    Thx Jim. I wish Luminar would add luminosity and colour range masks. This would almost be a game changer in terms of its appeal to many more photographers, and eliminate the need for many of us to use multiple photo processing software.

      Oh for sure and I have suggested this to them several times. We will see but I agree it would be a huge addition to Neo.

    Thanks Jim, I am learning from your tutorials with great enthusiasm. And indeed, I consider my self as a total beginner editing raw files in general. One of the reasons I bought Luminar Neo was exactly the masking features. Around 1:57 and 2:00 you are mentioning that cannot mask raw file in in Delevop raw? Could you please comment on this? I just have the raw file out from camera and opening it in Luminar Neo... Also, what material would you recommend me to study in order to get an understanding in the very basic steps of raw development in Luminar Neo. Thanks again, have a good day!

    Hi Jim, Many thanks for another great tutorial. I wonder if you could help me with a problem. I have been trying to use masking on RAW SONY files in Luminar NEO, but the menu appears completely different. For example, there is no option for masking and adjustments, and the exposure tabs are located in the EDIT section. I updated NEO to the latest version yesterday, and I am not sure if this is due to the RAW format of the photograph or its simply the new version of NEO. I would appreciate any help you can provide on using masking for RAW Sony photographs.
    Many thanks,

    Did you say something about not being able to mask with the raw image?

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  3 дні тому

      Yes that is correct. No masking in Develop Raw but anything else you can. It's because Develop Raw is on the base raw file and other adjustments are like an adjustment layer in PS, sitting "above" the raw file. Thanks.

      @@JimNix I’m very new to this so what do I need to do in that case?

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  3 дні тому

      @@urbantactical148 just use Develop Raw, and then I usually use Super Contrast. After that if you want to use Develop again and again, you can mask it. It's just when it says Develop Raw that you cannot mask. Also I have a free ebook about Luminar if you want to check it out, which has a lot of editing tips in it. jimnix.com/luminar-neo-quick-start-guide

    Thank you, Jim can we get tips on masking a large flying bird wing tips. AI is doing a very poor job.
    Thanks, Mike

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks Mike but sadly the AI isn't trained on animals as far as I can recall. So it would require brush masking done very carefully. Zoom in and use small strokes, etc. There's no easy way to do that sort of thing.

    As everybody else I want to thank you for all your demos - At the beginning of this one there was a to big reflection in your glasses and (as I am a photographer who sees everything) I find it a little bit annoying. I hope you don't mind this remark.

      thanks for watching and yes I have noticed that too, and just need to make the time to adjust and fix it, no worries about pointing that out - thanks!
