I’m so happy to see Trainspotting added, a marvelous moving that depicts addiction so well and artistically Thank you for your wonderful thoughts and comments Daisuke!
I’m really happy Trainspotting is coming back into the Criterion Collection and in 4K Blu-Ray as well! The other releases sound good too, but I’ve been curious to see if Trainspotting would return to the Criterion Collection and it looks like my waiting to upgrade from my DVD of Trainspotting has paid off. Thank you for talking about the January releases Daisuke, I hope you’re doing well and please take care. Have a great night and week!
Finally Trainspotting is back in the collection. With glow in the dark packaging too. Nice upgrade apu trilogy .I remember seeing it in the theater it was an honor
just saw Blood Simple for the first time a couple days ago and was blown away how good it was. The cinematography , cuts/transitions were so well done. It’s mind blowing how well the Coen Bros. did on their first major picture.
Woah! Yet another moment to get excited about cinema through this set of Criterion announcements and your words here! Correlating words about the Passolini box set with this Ackerman set has me definitely setting my sights on that for one day in my life! I've often heard mentions of the Apu Trilogy and there would be another "box-set" worth looking into for myself! Trainspotting is an unforgettable movie for a variety of scenes but I've always been sort of dismissive of it when I put it against other British favorites of mine. It will be cool to reexplore that film now that I am much older since I last watched it. The packaging for the box looks interesting and I always love to hear your knowledge about the "laserdisc era". I can imagine all that went into investing in collecting films on that format. I'm back and forth on my love for the Coen brother(s). I am a fan of their films but I've never seen Blood Simple. No doubt it is worth a watch if it's getting a Criterion re-release. I've never seen Lonestar but I thoroughly enjoyed the excitement you built for it here. When you talk about it, can you please do a Dark Helmet voice just once? My anticipation for Criterion is through the roof with my recent finishing all the titles I purchased during the July 2023 sale. I greatly await seeing all that I acquire during the November 2023 sale!! Cheers, my friend!
Hi Daisuke, you know I'm happy to see Lone Star in the criterion collection. It's amazing. Passion Fish next? What a beautiful thing to see. Great editing, score and ending and excellent characters as usual. Apu trilogy on 4K is pretty amazing too. Apologies for not commenting in a while. I hope you are settled in LA sir.
Trainspotting’s announcement reminded me of a comment you made on an older video. It regarded the laserdisc of Trainspotting I believe, and it’s inclusion of Irvine Welsh’s glossary of British slang. It looks like we’ll be getting it after all, so good call!
Oh WOW!! Thank you for remembering this comment I made!! Wow I am so honored that you would remember that! In fact that glossary was running through my mind as I was talking about this new release announcement in this video 😆
Trainspotting is for my money the best british film ever so this was a long time coming, but so happy now. Lone Star is great, chris cooper such an underrated actor. Would be good to eventually see City of Hope too one day.
After seeing how many titles were announced, it looks like Criterion is going to start the new year in a big way. I'm glad that people will finally discover or revisit Mudbound since that's been on Netflix for a long time.
The Chantal Akerman set will also be the first set to replace a complete eclipse series set (#19). Which seems to be not available anymore from now on.
Apu Trilogy is wonderful but I wonder if there is a relevant leap from the already gorgeous 4k restauration on blu ray. I still haven't found a single review on this one.
Criterion has been coming thru with titles I was hoping for. Eve's Bayou One False Move and now Lone Star. Still hoping for Cruising, a Simple Plan, Looking for Mr. Goodbar and a few others. Glad to see you're moved in settled in LA.
Just got my Freaks Criterion blue ray set and aslo picked up Cinderella and Snow White 4k cant wait for The Wicker Man 4k steelbook to arrive have a great my friend
looking forward to Chantal Akerman set as ive never seen her any of films. Of course in the UK the BFi critics greatest list picked her film Jeanne Deilman as no1, since then i have been awating a updated release to get hold of. Hoping Criterion will release this set in Uk too. Hope you are well Daisuke.
I think the whole set of releases is outstanding. I particularly look forward to The Apu Trilogy in 4K which I've watched numerous times in the past in both Blu-Ray and DVD format. Definitely I look forward to the January releases.

Thank you so much! Yes it is an intense depiction on many fronts as you suggest. I hope you are well and cheers my friend.

Wow, this January line-up is stacked! I can see myself getting the majority of these releases for the next Criterion sale.

Thank you so much. Yes I agree with you!! Warmest regards.
Came for The Terrorizers and stayed for the rest.
My selfish self would have wanted Trainspotting 2 included. However this is a very exciting lineup.
That is a really interesting idea.
Choose Life!!
Haha! ❤️
