CJ had the some of the best character development I've ever seen in a movie. From a complete A hole to a strong hero everyone counted on.
CJ was definitely the hardest dude in the movie 😎
He was Daryl before Daryl.

Yeah, it still holds up today, especially L4D2
This is the best part of the entire movie because it shows how badly the zombies have overrun the city and piled up around the mall, and it had more action towards the end also the way the zombies ran after them in the bus all the way to the marina shows that they were pretty much the last human survivors left.
Yeah real scary knowing they were the only people left alive in that entire area. However the special feature of Andy's video tapes revealed other survivors passing through the area discovered his tape so there's some hope.
Man I would've loved the idea of Zack Snyder and James Gunn introducing new survivors in Dawn of the Dead in the later sequels, too bad that's never gonna happen
It’s good to know that it ended through the zombie epidemic likely because they decomposed enough.
@@c0smicvega646 10 stars for entropy.
I don’t think it shows that they was the last survivors left. I think it just shows how relentless and aggressive these specific zombies were.
Poor Andy, dude was real.
I agree
It was the best
Yup. You've seen 'Andy's tapes' from the DOTD extras, right? If you haven't this flick had some *wicked* extras. The news report that covers the breakout from beginning to end and Andys lost tapes are the best add on's I've ever seen for any movie.
@@joearnold5836 yeah I saw the whole thing. It's awesome.

3:50 An important detail. They don't jump right away. They stopped so cautiously, which indicates the preservation of some instincts.
It's called movie suspension. There is no reason for them to stop there.
@@narkosfera1421 I think it's an interesting touch just like their sprinting abilities. These zombies are a lot more animalistic than other films so it would make sense they have a sort of self preservation feature.
I agree. They can sprint, pick up objects, and plan/strategize enough to wait til they've got more help before they jump at prey. @@Leon-zu1wp
They just wanted a suspense slowmo shot. No significance
The director even said
“In true life zombies will not stop so it was for drama”
But there is some good theory that
The zombies is gaining intelligence
They know that guns are dangerous and scary
So you can say when they saw the guns,
They remembered their previous life
Now this is the zombie apocalypse that could actually be deadly.
Imagine having one of those full sprint at you, and they never even break a sweat.
They'd give Usain Bolt a run for his money
Yes, but have you seen other zombie films that have ones that full sprint at you??
@@matt815 the last of us kind of has that feeling
They'd still get messed up by the military, but of course any time a foe is capable of violating the laws of physics it's asking for trouble.
@@SaftonYT it's low-key a scary thought...some people survive headshots nowadays. Thousands of dead people sprinting at you in the dark, limited ammo capacity in a urban environment?
Honestly I think they would’ve been okay if they just left the manhole cover alone once they were out there. They didn’t seem to care until they heard the noise
Exactly
I know right
Then it will become boring
For all you know one could’ve fallen down and caused a noise
@@John8-58they could have made something that would temporarily cover the hole from under. They knew the zombies reacted from noise.
This movie changed everything..Could never forget, being in the 5th row, high as a kite, opening weekend at the cinema...that intro..HOLY SH&*! My brother and I were already zombie fanatics, but this movie reinvigorated the passion and turned it to outright mania...this and 28 days later, of course.. you also had Land of the Dead...the video games that followed in their wake...Resident Evil Outbreak, the character Mark is based off of Ving Rhames here...Left 4 Dead...Dead Rising....Dead Island..could go on and on, what a time to be alive
They should have grabbed the phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
LMAO 💀
It’s just what you see, pal 🙄
Wrong 😂😂😂
Imagine a terminator vs zombies scenario. You think the robot meat suit would fool them into thinking he's edible?
Nah man boltgun for sure
I love CJ.
Alwaya bugged me that they grabbed a bunch of pistols and shotguns, but not a single rifle. One AR and 2 spare mags means a lot of zombies not getting back up.
Redaction: I forgot the Assault Weapons ban expired while this movie was in production. I still stand by not grabbing a shotgun, however.
maybe they chose the guns with less rate of fire - it helps to preserve ammo. AR is a good choice, but it'll waste ammo unless you use it in single-shot mode (if yes - why do you need AR?) Pistols and shotguns, on the other hand, has slow rate of fire, and every shot of it has more chance to give you a frag
@@AlexanderSilvarg you’re not gonna get a fully automatic rifle at a local gun store for one lol, and two an AR or other semi auto rifle is much more precise than a shotgun, not to mention you can carry 200+ rounds with ease rather than a 50 shotgun shells in pockets or on loops
@@Brainwarts99 I'd quite agree with you in terms of possibilty of carrying 200+ rounds, but there're some more problems. AR itself is quite heavy weapon, and so are bullets for it. You can take a couple of clips with you, but still they are a heavy burden. If there're a solution - machineguns pistols (MP5, TEK-9 etc) could fit more. Their bullets suit pistol, so they are lighter, and the weapon itself is quite light to carry. You can get more clips with you. Still, their accuracy sucks, but if you chose single-shot fire mode, it may work
@@AlexanderSilvarg yeah again dude they’re not gonna find fully automatic weapons in a local gunshop, so any kinda of machine pistol isn’t a practical or realistic option. a pump action 12 gauge weighs about the same as an AR-15 loaded I own both. You can easily carry 5-10 30 round magazines in a bag they weigh about 1lb each.
@@Brainwarts99 it's up to you, mate, I live in Russia, and I don't own a gun, so I can't challenge your opinion about the weight of guns and ammo for it

This is the theatrical version. I noticed it is missing the scene in which CJ shoots a propane tank from the roof and then tries to catch up with the group. The editing looks kinda weird if you've seen both the theatrical and unrated versions.
Ok, I just watched this on Netflix, and thought, "wait, did I miss the scene?"
Yup! I remember the first time I watched this movie, they showed the uncut extended version on the USA network where you see CJ blow up the propane tank. Never understood why they took it out of the theatrical version
I don’t feel like this movie gets the credit it deserves for making what I believe is the scariest zombie horde ever.
It was a massive hit
I always go back and forth, as to which film is the greatest zombie film ever. Dawn of the Dead 2004 or Train to Busan. They are both in my top 5, along with 28 Days Later, Shaun of The Dead, and Day of the Dead. I don't think anyone, can top that top 5 list of zombie films. World War Z could of been the greatest ever, but it was just an ok film in my opinion.

Why not try? I sure would have done the same thing as cj
The side story of the gun store guy was amazing u gotta look it up
CJ is my favourite character
Me too. He was a solid brother 😎
What I like about this, is that the guns in this movie packs a punch, ESPECIALLY the Pistols
Realistic Recoil, muzzleflip and sounds
2 thing always scared me about this film, that this can actually happen in the real world. And 2 being that when the Zombies stop at the end of the stairs at 3:50 it’s like the survivors were looking at death itself in the eye
How can this happen in the real world?
In the real world the zombies would already be perma-dead from thirst as none of their organs, muscles or limbs could possibly function without water, same goes for hunger.
A more real world zombie would be one that has to occasionally drink from puddles, rivers or lakes like any other animal, as well as eat animals/each other more than is depicted.
1: This can't happen in the real world.
2: If it could those zombies would not have stopped and waited.
A Zombie threat can never happen... impossible. At best, a chemical warfare agent may alter brain chemistry and turn people violent... which is possible. They certainly wouldn't be the un-dead though.@@ladariusparker7248

This has been edited (as someone else pointed out). One part that's missing is where C.J. and the young security guard stand shoulder to shoulder and start mowing down zombies, but there's so many it makes no difference.
This is the closest thing we’ll have to a Left 4 Dead Live Action Film
It sounds like you're referring to something related to the popular game "Left 4 Dead" and its potential for a live-action adaptation. If you’re looking for films or projects that capture a similar vibe, you might want to check out movies like "28 Days Later," "World War Z," or "Train to Busan." These films feature intense zombie action and survival themes similar to what you'd find in "Left 4 Dead."
Telling someone to shoot you & at the same time getting eaten by ZOMBIES the pain must really hurt.
That would indeed be an incredibly intense and painful situation. The physical pain from being attacked by zombies, combined with the emotional trauma of a potentially fatal situation, would be overwhelming. If someone were to experience that, the suffering would be immense on both a physical and psychological level.
bro his shotgun got stolen by a zombie💀💀💀
He let it go because he knew there was more inside the shop
Little reference to the original with one particular zombie doing something similar with Roger's gun?
His, not he's
I'm not an expert at shotguns but what Ving Rhames' character is carrying is a 12 gauge. I understand that 12 GA slugs are powerful but in a situation like this, don't you think it would be better to shoot a different shot type like Double buck or something with more spread instead of him shooting slugs? I mean Andy's gun shop has all kinds of ammo for shotguns.
It would help a little bit if going for head shots because, depending on what distance he's shooting from the spread could take out zombies behind the one he's aiming for if it's a big crowd. But, the spreads you're gonna get out of a non choked home defense shotgun, which he has, have been greatly overplayed by the media and movies. You can get a much better spread of out a hunting shotgun with a open or custom choke as compared to a HD shotgun. Also, the load and brand of buckshot would heavily influence how much spread you'd have anyways. Some buckshot has a flight load which keeps the pellets more together and some don't. There are so many variables when it comes to shotguns but most special defense ammo is gonna have a tight group and crappy mass produced buckshot usually has a bigger spread
I don't think he is using slugs. When it cuts to Nicole opening the door you see blood splatters over it with small impacts which look like ball bearing impacts. I would have said he was using buckshot. Close range so regardless of ammo it would make a head explode lol
Also the reason why automatic rifle not used here because of some country ban regulations lmao
Imagine the disgusting smell in the street caused by zombies
0:39 I really hope someone can do this Horde soundtrack on the L4d2 steam workshop When a group of zombies come at you, play this soundtrack, trust me, that's the most scary and thrilling time...
4:00 That slow motion pump of the shotgun exiting the shell is what let you know Zack Snyder was about to blow up. All of us remember it.
I adore this movie
The zombie's growl like the zombie's in L4D ,someone should make a level about this in L4D
Bro, someone really made a map for this movie, but many places are different. What I hope more is that someone can make a soundtrack for this movie to make Left 4 Dead 2 more terrifying.😮

kind smart go to gun store in zombies apocalypse
In a zombie apocalypse, finding a gun store could be a smart move for self-defense and survival. If you're considering this, here are some tips:
1. **Safety First:** Approach the store cautiously. Zombies might be attracted to noise or movement. Ensure the area is secure before entering.
2. **Assess the Situation:** Check for any signs of other survivors or zombies around the store. Look for any recent activity or disturbances.
3. **Gather Supplies:** Besides firearms, the store might have ammunition and other useful supplies. Make sure to grab essentials like extra clips, cleaning kits, and even tactical gear if available.
4. **Be Prepared:** Have a plan for how to quickly exit the store if needed. Know your routes and have a backup plan in case things go sideways.
5. **Stay Quiet and Alert:** Minimize noise and keep a low profile. Zombies are often attracted to sound.
Remember, it's also wise to think about the broader strategy for survival, including food, shelter, and establishing a safe base.
Director: ayt, all zombie should wear long sleeves😂😂😂😂
Still the best zombie movie to date!
They gotta make 2 this was scary like heck beat zombie apocalypse
cj is the best character
I think there's a deleted part after this 2:28 since suddenly its just CJ left alone in there.
There is, he throws a propane tank to clear the horde. I can’t seem to find the scene tho
I can understand why most of the survivors only took pistols, its likely because its the only type of gun they know how to handle. If I had to choose between an ar15 (a weapon i've never even touched) and a beretta id still choose the beretta because i've shot my dad's beretta like a hundred times
When this movie takes place during the early 2000’s AR-15’s weren’t commonplace like they are today due to bans that either hadn’t or had just recently expired. You couldn’t just walk into a gunshop and see walls full of them like you can today.
3:23 so at this point he understood that he is dead and gave the weapons back...
Why they didn't use all the bullets in the store to clear the city a bit? Rifles, pistols, shotguns and just keep some for the holiday, the gunstore was also enough barricaded. I mean tallahassee kinda did it at the luna park inside a puny gift shop.
good point
Andy already tried that in the special tape. He said everytime he shot or killed a zombie, two more would always show up likely due to being drawn to sound. He killed like 100 but more kept showing up as if he didn't kill any.
The standoff on the stairs is real interesting to me. Would’ve thought the zombies would’ve just charged up the stairs but they almost hesitate before going
Ving Rhames is a real zombie slayer and kind of reminds me of Dutch from Black Lagoon.
This clip edited out the exploding propane tank scene.
Sad.
Ngl this kind of zombie apocalypse would be the worst one to happen. Zombies sprinting with no limits and can be killed only by headshots.
