Janet Jackson, Respectability Politics & Why Fierce Women Misbehave
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- Pop icon Janet Jackson found herself on the scorching end of a media firestorm following news that she was divorcing her billionaire husband, Wissam Al Manna, a mere 5 years after marriage and 3 months after giving birth. Is she a gold digger? Was she in it for the baby all along? Who knows... and who cares? When we study the history of the the greatest, most phenomenal women to walk the Earth, you discover that these questions of respectability failed to concern them. There is an unwritten code of ethics that women are expected to abide by-- cultural expectations of how we behave, how we love, mother, and connect to the opposite sex. These social codes and sexual mores weren't made to empower us, they were made to keep women in check! Our notion of feminity as being soft, accommodating, kind, considerate and nice holds us back. As you'll see in this video, the women who make history, the politicians, the activists, the sirens, and the stars-- all behaved 'badly'. For more power tips visit WomenLovePower.com.

my grandmom (grew up in a tiny catholic village in italy) told me, when Josephine Baker was popular, she would one time sneak out of class and go to cinema to watch her dance, priests found out (cause they were there themselves...) and so she got kicked out of school and shamed, and she told me she didn't regret sneaking out, it was the moment she understood, men will put you down for the things they do themselves so she won't listen to them anymore, she was 13 back then. I loved that woman and i miss her every single day. my idol
Linda Lemoni now this is a word!!! The double standard is real and the only way to circumvent is for us to play by our own rules! Your grandma sounds fierce!
she definitely was, thank you! So fierce, that she would leave her fiancé when she was pregnant, DURING WWII cause he wouldn't share his food equally, and she said she preferred being hungry in war and an unmarried mother at that time than to be with an egoist. So when I dated in the beginning of my 20ies, and I still didn't really know yet who I was, and kind of allowed some men to misbehave with me, my memory to her would always stop me from continuing that hurtful behavior to myself and stand up for myself instead :) she was the best influence I could have ever had in my life
Aww your nonna sounds like an awesome rebel.
I'm jealous she seen Josephine lmao , but she sounds like a dope lady. May she rest in peace
@@lindalemoni5428 WOW WHAT A WOMAN. REST IN PEACE AND IN POWER TO YOUR GRANDMA
I had to share this video because it speaks so much truth. If a woman says that she wants an attractive, educated man and so on , people will be quick to tell her : " oh you will be single for the rest of your life", but if man says he wants " an intelligent, beautiful woman by his side", very few people will tell him that he will be single forever. The double standard is real.
Thanks for sharing! And yes, the double standards are so real -- and they prevent us from going out into the world and taking what we want!
i think its the other way around
Mx Tooreal
Exactly ! And unfortunately a lot of these women allow these mediocre men into their lives.
@@78percent34 Yeha YOU think..not a fact.
"They don't play by the rules because they know the game is rigged." Brilliant!🦋
Powerful words I needed to hear.
@Jodi Landon "A free woman is a serious threat to most women." Say that!!!🔥🔥
It's unfortunate that I learned about Ayesha only after her passing. She was such a brilliant woman. RIP, Angel 🤍
WHAT?!?! I just discovered her today!
I’m sad because I knew of her but not never knew how brilliant she was until she passed. She was on the news in my hometown and after she left I didn’t know what she had grown to be. With the help of these you tube algorithms، I’ve been binge watching everything she’s been in.
Wait huh 😕
Oh my goodness I bought her Mother archetype course! This makes me so sad
"But he speaks English, and has two legs" 😂😂😭😭🙌🏾

My Moms standard for me was "if he loves God, has a job, and all his teeth!" Smh
That's quite true, the dating books for men are quite different than ones written for women. They are encouraged, inspired and taught to follow their instincts and get what they want women's books are entire endless lists of rules and even blaming yourself for everything in some. It's time to learn to be not nice, it's hard to unlearn though.
Introvertsan it's funny, there are many men taught to be nice, also. it's odd that there are so many videos about nice men and women finish last. odder that there is a quote that says the first shall be last. many of these circle speeches keep people in a cycle of spinning rhetoric and ideologies to keep them in line with manipulation, to both divide and keep them against one another. it is a trick of someone who is controlling both parties, it is systemic. learning the system gives clear view of what is really going on. law is law and applies the same, and power is in league with one of those laws, however, it goes under a different term, as language is what directs the narrative and mindset. the etymology and history of nice is in reference to breeding and training.
Struggling with that now!
Coffee AtMidnight Exactly! Some will hide behind being nice, but as soon as you refuse them something they want, all hell breaks loose.
R.I.P Ayesha, soar high Queen! A pioneer that was truly a master of her craft, she brought dimension and depth to the topic of femininity.
What happened? When and h did she die?

I’m done being too nice to men. I’m from a Muslim background and the cultural norms are extremely misogynistic. I believe Janet was fed up with that culture. She did good in the end by leaving with good lump of wealth and cute baby. 👏🏼
The outside world isnt very nice to women either. Only use you until you run dry and toss you away.

@@bibaolaitan5189 that can happen everywhere. It’s not common and very hard to do sometimes. It was mostly used for war to up the population. You can write in your marriage contract that you don’t want to him to have second wife. Problem solved.
@@user-oo6vr1ky5f it is not common in your part of the world...
Where i am from, its basically a norm, cos its allowed by the religion... and it was never written in the quran that it was required for war, you just made that up in ur head... the contract thing was never written in the quran or hadith, its the Dubai govt that included that in their marriage law, because of natural human compassion...
And it's also funny that the religion that claims to respect women did not include part of the conditions to get a second wife is to ask the first wife permission...

Religion is a form of mental slavery, installed via white supremacy(among blk ppl in the west). You can't play fair in an UNFAIR world! You better start to distance yourself from your mother & DISREGARD that conditioning before it's too late!!!
@@kidano5317 The abrahamic faiths are extremely misogynistic. It was even more worse for Janet when she moved to an Islamic country with her Muslim husband
I don't understand why people focus so much on money in this marriage. She was married twice before this and not once was people talking about money once the marriages was over.
Jeff Caldwell true
In the case of the Blk community, the ideaology of BW are not supposed to want a man with money (they are called GoldDiggers) and be in a relationship with a non-Blk man is taboo.

You're a uniquely intelligent woman. I realize most of the women of power have Scorpio rising, Scorpio energy within their chart. I've notice Leo sun and rising or fire elements also within a lot of these powerful women astrological charts. Lets not forget packed angular houses. If you're into numerology most of these women have also life path 1, 3,5,7,8,9,11
To sum it up their intuitive independent nature, inspired these powerful women too live fearlessly. Thank you for a informative video.
So, I don't know much about astrology but a bit about numerology and I actually happen to be 11, so that's quite exciting, lol! I'm going to read about the Scorpio energy. Were there any specific women who were Scorpio rising and Leo Sun? Thanks for the tremendous compliment. I love your insight because I do think that women gain a lot when they tap into their intuition and their own independent/ fulfilling nature.

"He speaks English and he's got two legs"! dear lawwd !!😂😂😂when did we come to this ?
This was quite interesting to hear, partly because I was raised by a single West Indian Mom who did played by society's rules and was hurt by that. I not here to give an opinion about this Vlog just wanted to ask If you thought there might be a fine line between needing to be ethically responsible so as to not bring the negative side of Karma to oneself and for the strong women to be able to not live her like dumbing down her power for society's sake?
Of course. When I speak about not playing by the rules, I speak about personal power. Power is neutral. I can charm a five year old into eating veggies and drinking milk because it's good for them, or I can charm a person out of their money. Power is neutral. What you do with it makes the difference. I personally believe in karma and ethics, but to each their own.
