Cool result, nice work. Love how you tried to get the laser to go through, but with the thickness and material in question I think you did the best the laser could. Thanks for sharing!
It’s a balance between being cool If I get the laser to go all the way through, and that actually being the best way to accomplish the task. Thanks for watching :)
Messing with it is half the fun. Gotta get it juuuussssst right. Sincerely I was shocked I got it SO perfect immediately. I was trying to show on camera how darn perfect the cut settings were.
Where are you located if you don’t mind sharing? It’s a big undertaking but if you go in with a plan it’s very doable. And the best thing we ever did :) and thank you so much. It means the world that you watch and follow along
@@MakersWorkshopLLC We are in a city near Toronto. The planning part has been quite a saga spanning years, but it looks like we are zeroing in on starting in the next few months!
I love watching your videos both here and on Instagram. That laser is a beast. I’m not sure that we have the Laguna lasers here in the U.K. but I want!
It really is a beast. It’s a 150 watt laser tube which is the important part when it comes to getting through the slabs like this. And thank you so much for following along. It’s crazy to think that we can connect with someone a whole ocean away :) 👋hi from Boston (ish)
@@MakersWorkshopLLC my Daughter (Taylors) loves watching the projects and is always asking to make her own videos. So far she has made her own pen video but that’s it so far. Lots more making to come. Keep up the great work. Love it. From Mirfield (not far off bang centre of England).
I love how you show the whole process with all the problems and mistakes made. We can learn with you and also appreciate the result more knowing it's not as easy as it may seem at the first glance. :)
The mistakes are when all the best stuff happens. Can’t get rid of all that now can we. Also, “failing” isn’t failing. The times when everything doesn’t work are so much more valuable than when everything goes right.
It would probably make a big difference. We’re hooking a big CNC machine that requires a big air compressor and we might try to see if we can hook the laser up to it as well. TBD 👍🏻👌🏻 stay tuned.
@@MakersWorkshopLLC just make sure you strap a decent water trap to it. The silent compressors are pretty awesome, can actually talk around them without industrial deafness becoming a concern
Yep, it accomplishes basically the same effect. Inputting a thicker material would mess with my outer dimension slightly in the box generator. Which isn’t a huge deal but I went with this work flow Bc I was going to be adding elements to the box in illustrator anyway.
I really like how you made the boxes on the Pew..Pew..Pew Machine! Looks Fantastic!
I could have done it another way but I was dying to try cutting some of the slabs on the laser 😎

Nice work. Good job on explaining your decision making process. I also thought you did a good job with the pacing on this one.
I wanted to show the full decision making process without making things drag on longer than necessary so thanks for that I appreciate it 👊
Messing with the laser reminds me of messing with 3d printer settings, awesome video and very cool project!

@@MakersWorkshopLLC that’s true it is always fun to try out a new toy and yeah those cuts were really nice
Great video! You did an awesome job, they look gorgeous!
Inspiring. Truly. Trying to start a makerspace in my city and your videos make me so excited and inspired for what might be possible. :) Keep it up.

I LOVE to hear it: hi Taylors 👋 keep making cool stuff ok?
Great film, well done. Nice shots and editing. Planters look fabulous. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thank you so much :) I had a lot of fun putting this one together
Very cool video! 👏🏻
Did it in fact only take 2 seconds to hang them together? 🤣

Need a better air assist to get through.

Next time you can input in the box designer program a thicker material instead of adjusting each finger joined by hand

what focal length lens were you using? is that the 150W machine?
63.5 focal length and this is a Laguna EX Laser which is 150 watt
