When the goofball commenters (not Tyler) have built a big CNC shop, then sold it - then maybe they have creds to comment. These jokers commenting would have trouble hiring and keeping a handful of guys. Most all of us are so glad to have your view into super high end machining. Take Care.

Hi Peter, Nil Desperandum. We all know there is more than one way to skin a cat. I have been doing this stuff for over 40 years, and I can tell you that you are a Master at what you do. Sure Titan and his crew ( not a fan), can knock out a decent part, but you work with what you have, and that my friend is what makes a tradesman, keep up the good work, best wishes, Mal.
What Titans of CNC do basically is product placement with their videos, and ofc in them you see nothing more than perfection, because that's what and how you do when you have to promote a tool, a machine or both. 100% sure they make stupid mistakes too, and not always everything and everybody are 101% efficient. Reality is what is behind the camera, not in front of.
exactly.. I have done mechanical work for 40 years, with manual and cnc machines, we had to find clever ways to do things, we had to use the old worn out tools but it always worked out ok
I would say what Peter does is what an actual machine shop looks like. I would call titan a Hollywood machinist. Not to take away from what he does I learned plenty from his academy. However very few of us get brand new machines and top of the line tooling we have to make the best out of what we have
i think your probably one of the best machinist ive seen! I think everyone problem is they see titan do all this high speed machining make the machine go as fast as it can, its overrated! There are always people who will tell you how to spend your money. And some will be happy to tell you everything you do wrong. I like to watch your videos not for the things I do. But for the things I dont do, I learn from you and others by finding what is different. I am grateful for the effort you put into your work. I own my own shop and for many years I have worked alone. I don’t comment on a lot of videos, but I wanted to on this one. I have learned a ton from the things you show in your videos, especially around work holding and indicating. I’m thankful for any knowledge that you share. It didn’t cost me anything but a little time, and that time has always been well spent watching what you have to say. I’m sorry that you preemptively feel like you have say what you did about this video. It’s one of the reasons that sometimes I am hesitant to show video content machining parts on my channel. You can't worry about people on the internet because the person being critical most of the time has as much experience as you have forgotten over the years of machining you have. Anyone who wants to learn how to do it right should be watching you because it works. Just don't worry about it and don't give them the time of day because it truth that's what they are looking for. The one thing you'll notice is that as soon as you acknowledge something they said made you address them, it invites more of it! You do you and that far and above what anyone of us can expect. You don't have to take the time showing us all your experience you have developed over the years but you do and I for one want to tell you it is appreciated. keep up the great work I know it's not easy to make these videos. Don't sell yourself short, your way of doing things has gotten you this far, farther than allot of other people. It's easy to be a monday morning quarter back, its a whole different thing to actually do it, not to mention put out the video for everyone to see. As a younger guy in the trade your videos have been incredibly informative and interesting to watch. Nobody else on youtube does what you do, I think that in and of itself should speak to the value of your work, and the skill and effort that has gone into it.

Whatever speeds and feeds work for you is all that matters. All depends on setup and machine rigidity and spindle horsepower etc. It’s will never be the same from shop to shop or from machinist to machinist. Love your work immensely. Just got an integrex of my own at our shop with no training and the first thing I did was start watching your videos all over again. You saved me and my shop by putting your knowledge out there. It’s not just entertainment, it’s educational for everyone and if anyone wants to tell you you’re wrong, it means is that they haven’t truly figured it out for themselves. I used to teach college students in a manufacturing processes lab and they all claim to know it all until they’re put on the spot. You talk the talk and walk the walk. It really bothers me that people would get my favorite machinist in this kind of mood. Peter has more skill and ingenuity than anyone I've heard call themselves machinist.
Pay them no heed I am sure the overwhelming amount of people like myself enjoy your videos for what they are and anyway like you said if they don't like it they don't have to watch, I follow several machinists and everyone of them have said the exact same thing you have said, it's not necessarily the right way to do something but it's your way to do it and that should be good enough for anyone. I find it interesting that the most talented tradesmen, the most capable, seem to get the most haters whether its out in the working world or in youtube videos. Not to brag, but being good at what I do in my work always drew a lot of jealousy. I think a lot of it was the fact that I really enjoyed my work and there was always someone who wanted to spoil that for me, to take it away and have it for themselves. I wish everyone enjoyment and satisfaction in their work. They say that misery enjoys company. As such I learned very early on to not take those people seriously. In fact I tend to pity them for not finding these things in themselves, but rather comparing themselves to other people. Please keep on doing what you're doing. I appreciate you and your contribution to the rest of us.

Well, if they all want to make comments then they all should make a tube video and show it...as far as I'm concerned the feeds and speeds info tool mfg. give is just a baseline...as you know you can have two pieces of 6160 aluminum from the same bar stock and they can cut and finish totally different from one another... As with yourself, given the book given the machine and a 45 min. tutorial video start spitting out parts...so I myself have learned a lot from you and a couple others. I appreciate the time and efforts you put into these tutorials... I grew up old school and it has been a big change programming and running CNC equipment without formal education...So thank you and keep educating....
You the man Peter! Anyone who knows what's up knows spending hours refining toolpaths on a one-off not for profit part is a waste of time. The only ppl that would do that are the ones that think they need to prove something, which you certainly do not.

Great video! I love watching these videos because I run basically the same machine but the Mori version. I really appreciate learning from you on these because I have nobody at my company to teach me. In my experience people who feel like they have to prove that how good they are or try to tell you how good they are are normally the worst. I have started to watch your videos a few years ago and I have subscribed to your channel because I have found it interesting the way you work and you do things. You didn’t try to tell us how good you are not even once. But you have lots of experience and I have learned a lot from you. Some of the things you do I never even heard about it before. So what I would like to say is keep up the good work and we would like to see much more videos from you. Thanks.
Ignore the negative comments Peter. The level of work you do speaks for itself and if you couldn’t do it your wouldn’t get that work. I think sadly that a lot of people work in environments where they have bosses that yell at them if they don’t do things a certain way and eventually they wind up thinking that’s the only way.
I used to also make 'random' parts on the weekends simply to learn new skills and test ideas. Tooling is expensive when you're doing it for fun and so you make do with what you have and maybe buy a single tool.
I'm always super careful to clean all the chips from my clothing before coming back into the house but a few seem to make it in every time. I laughed in the opening of your video when I saw a big one stuck to the back of your shirt. I thought, "that sneaky bugger is going home with him!"
You are doing a great job Peter. Any of these lizard internet critics should show us their you tube channel and how they do it. Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

I know it's hard but you should do your best to ignore the 5% or less of haters and make videos that the 95% will appreciate. I would really appreciate you putting your speeds and feeds on because it shows some good starting points for my future reference. Really I just appreciate you being you so I'll take any videos you want to put out. :)
I can't help but remember a Titans of CNC story about a machinist who screwed up a big job because he thought he knew better. It was a big production run, so a lot of work went into optimizing the program. But this one machinist just knew the feeds and speeds were wrong, and proceeded to ruin a bunch of tools. There's always "that guy", especially on youtube!
I for one really enjoy the videos of a more practical nature since I'm much more likely to be able to apply it. Though everything else has been extremely inspiring. It's so cool to see a master problem solver get to actually use the tools you have they way they could be used and not the way some penny pinching corporation dictates.
Probably missed it but how practical is that anvil? Looks great but not heavy iron or steel?? Assuming it's a exercise in technique or trying something different from your regular work pieces. Anyway it's always great to see how you approach these projects. Like everyone has said before you've got real skills!!

As far as I can tell you are incredibly talented. I say this with 40 years of milling and turning, some 6&8 axis mill/turn but nothing close to the parts you make, whoever said that you didn’t know what you’re doing is an idiot.

@Steve Watkins at Work has a great interface for his low memory cnc mill. He has a usb compatible drive that replaces the 3.5" floppy disk drive. I don't know if that's what you meant by 'drip feed'..... he seems very happy with it. The reason I love your channel is because of your amazing knowledge and outstanding machining. Edge Precision is a very apt name. Thanks for all your time put into showing us how it should be done! great job Peter.
My machine has a network connection to my laptop. Those floppy to usb devises don’t exactly work the way you may think. (I have one on this machine). It replaces the floppy drive but the volume stays the same as the original floppy drive. So whatever the original floppy disk had is all you can access on the usb stick. I can send over the network cable at faster speed then a usb connection. But there is no way (that I know) to run a drip feed over a network connection. This machine does not have a serial port. It didn’t need it because of the network connection.
@Edge Precision, I AM NOT SAYING DO THIS, however could it be somehow cost effective to upgrade or replace the control? I know some of that stuff costs a house just for the main board.
@@EdgePrecision I transfer to my 2004 hurco using rs232 via a dnc software. It’s fine for what I do, but larger programs can take along time to transfer. Since I usually do job shop one off parts it works for me. Love you stuff. Learn something new every video.
@@tedsaylor6016 There may be a way to increase the memory the machine runs programs on. What is a bit strange on this machine is. The operating system is Windows. There are different folders where I can store programs. There is a backup folder where I can put as many programs as I want. Up to the capacity of the hard drive I suppose? But the folder where the machine runs of of somehow is different, or maybe there is a memory not seen on the windows computer? What is strange is there is a folder where the auto programs can be seen (In the windows directory). But there seems to be a limit on their size. I don't know how this can be?
I'm a total novice learning from experienced machinists like you on UA-cam and I'm very appreciative of the time you put into these videos. My only question is why you don't have a shop dog or cat 😆
Those irregular shaped objects are very hard to hold without a good set of soft jaws. And after machining, the coolant looks funny. When I have tried that in the past, the part comes out..... fuzzy.... Not a fan.
@@EdgePrecision OHS :shake fist: workplace rules are a bit stricter in the US I guess. My cat watches me fumble around in the shed with lots of amusement but he stays away from the noisy machines for most part.
Not having time to finish the set of anvils is a good thing as it means you have more then enough paid work. Saying that I look forward to your videos, like most here I subscribed to your channel to see how you meticulously plan and execute your work. Most of the folk here do not criticize so I guess they are here for similar reasons as myself. Try to ignore the critics who are just looking for a soap box to air their opinions. Pay them no heed I am sure the overwhelming amount of people like myself enjoy your videos for what they are and anyway like you said if they don't like it they don't have to watch, I follow several machinists and everyone of them have said the exact same thing you have said, it's not necessarily the right way to do something but it's your way to do it and that should be good enough for anyone. Thanks for the time and effort that you put into these videos.
I find it interesting that the most talented tradesmen, the most capable, seem to get the most haters whether its out in the working world or in youtube videos.
Not to brag, but being good at what I do in my work always drew a lot of jealousy. I think a lot of it was the fact that I really enjoyed my work and there was always someone who wanted to spoil that for me, to take it away and have it for themselves. I wish everyone enjoyment and satisfaction in their work. They say that misery enjoys company. As such I learned very early on to not take those people seriously. In fact I tend to pity them for not finding these things in themselves, but rather comparing themselves to other people.
Please keep on doing what you're doing. I appreciate you and your contribution to the rest of us.
PLEASE! Know that many of us just want to watch you work and greatly appreciate your being willing to have us watch!
Amen. I had a long rant to give as well, but in the machining world and trades, it seems that if you are some what effective, there are those that want to “tear down” rather than help build.

Well, if they all want to make comments then they all should make a tube video and show it...as far as I'm concerned the feeds and speeds info tool mfg. give is just a baseline...as you know you can have two pieces of 6160 aluminum from the same bar stock and they can cut and finish totally different from one another...
As with yourself, given the book given the machine and a 45 min. tutorial video start spitting out parts...so I myself have learned a lot from you and a couple others. I appreciate the time and efforts you put into these tutorials... I grew up old school and it has been a big change programming and running CNC equipment without formal education...So thank you and keep educating....

It's more to let people (The people I'm referring to are the ones who can't resist making those comments.) know of what I'm presenting. All I can do is show what I have learned over the years. Great video! I love watching these videos because I run basically the same machine but the Mori version. I really appreciate learning from you on these because I have nobody at my company to teach me. don't change , you are good and I always learn something from your videos. you work more like a manual machinist but on CNC and sounds confusing but you probably understand. your skill set is light years away from others CNC guys I'm trying to learn. let them say whatever and keep on doing the good work
In my experience people who feel like they have to prove that how good they are or try to tell you how good they are are normally the worst. I have started to watch your videos a few years ago and I have subscribed to your channel because I have found it interesting the way you work and you do things. You didn’t try to tell us how good you are not even once. But you have lots of experience and I have learned a lot from you. Some of the things you do I never even heard about it before. Ignore the negative comments Peter. The level of work you do speaks for itself and if you couldn’t do it your wouldn’t get that work.
I think sadly that a lot of people work in environments where they have bosses that yell at them if they don’t do things a certain way and eventually they wind up thinking that’s the only way.
I used to also make 'random' parts on the weekends simply to learn new skills and test ideas. Tooling is expensive when you're doing it for fun and so you make do with what you have and maybe buy a single tool.
I'm slowly teaching myself cnc from the ground up and I'm always amazed with the vids and appreciate the time u take to make them thank u

I'm always super careful to clean all the chips from my clothing before coming back into the house but a few seem to make it in every time. I laughed in the opening of your video when I saw a big one stuck to the back of your shirt. I thought, "that sneaky bugger is going home with him!"
I've done quite a bit of old school Machining, and you do just fine I wouldn't know where to start with a computer.

Your videos are my favorite machining videos. I do enjoy your videos but I mainly watch them to learn from you. I know it's hard but you should do your best to ignore the 5% or less of haters and make videos that the 95% will appreciate. I would really appreciate you putting your speeds and feeds on because it shows some good starting points for my future reference. Really I just appreciate you being you so I'll take any videos you want to put out. :)
I can't help but remember a Titans of CNC story about a machinist who screwed up a big job because he thought he knew better. It was a big production run, so a lot of work went into optimizing the program. But this one machinist just knew the feeds and speeds were wrong, and proceeded to ruin a bunch of tools. There's always "that guy", especially on youtube!
I for one really enjoy the videos of a more practical nature since I'm much more likely to be able to apply it. Though everything else has been extremely inspiring. It's so cool to see a master problem solver get to actually use the tools you have they way they could be used and not the way some penny pinching corporation dictates.

Probably missed it but how practical is that anvil? Looks great but not heavy iron or steel?? Assuming it's a exercise in technique or trying something different from your regular work pieces. Anyway it's always great to see how you approach these projects. Like everyone has said before you've got real skills!!

As far as I can tell you are incredibly talented. I say this with 40 years of milling and turning, some 6&8 axis mill/turn but nothing close to the parts you make, whoever said that you didn’t know what you’re doing is an idiot.

For my cad I use SpaceClaim. For the cam I use Esprit TNG for the Mazak and Esprit 2000 for the Mitsubishi horizontal mill.

@Steve Watkins at Work has a great interface for his low memory cnc mill. He has a usb compatible drive that replaces the 3.5" floppy disk drive. I don't know if that's what you meant by 'drip feed'..... he seems very happy with it. The reason I love your channel is because of your amazing knowledge and outstanding machining. Edge Precision is a very apt name. Thanks for all your time put into showing us how it should be done! great job Peter.
My machine has a network connection to my laptop. Those floppy to usb devises don’t exactly work the way you may think. (I have one on this machine). It replaces the floppy drive but the volume stays the same as the original floppy drive. So whatever the original floppy disk had is all you can access on the usb stick. I can send over the network cable at faster speed then a usb connection. But there is no way (that I know) to run a drip feed over a network connection. This machine does not have a serial port. It didn’t need it because of the network connection.

@Edge Precision, I AM NOT SAYING DO THIS, however could it be somehow cost effective to upgrade or replace the control? I know some of that stuff costs a house just for the main board.
@@EdgePrecision I transfer to my 2004 hurco using rs232 via a dnc software. It’s fine for what I do, but larger programs can take along time to transfer. Since I usually do job shop one off parts it works for me. Love you stuff. Learn something new every video.
@@tedsaylor6016 There may be a way to increase the memory the machine runs programs on. What is a bit strange on this machine is. The operating system is Windows. There are different folders where I can store programs. There is a backup folder where I can put as many programs as I want. Up to the capacity of the hard drive I suppose? But the folder where the machine runs of of somehow is different, or maybe there is a memory not seen on the windows computer? What is strange is there is a folder where the auto programs can be seen (In the windows directory). But there seems to be a limit on their size. I don't know how this can be?

I'm not really a pet person. But I couldn't have any pets here in the shop anyway. It's not like I'm here by myself. This is a running business.
Those irregular shaped objects are very hard to hold without a good set of soft jaws. And after machining, the coolant looks funny. When I have tried that in the past, the part comes out..... fuzzy.... Not a fan.
@@EdgePrecision OHS :shake fist: workplace rules are a bit stricter in the US I guess. My cat watches me fumble around in the shed with lots of amusement but he stays away from the noisy machines for most part.
Not having time to finish the set of anvils is a good thing as it means you have more then enough paid work. Saying that I look forward to your videos, like most here I subscribed to your channel to see how you meticulously plan and execute your work. Most of the folk here do not criticize so I guess they are here for similar reasons as myself. Try to ignore the critics who are just looking for a soap box to air their opinions.
