Congratulations woman of God! The light of Christ is shining through you 😊 I renounced the oaths I made in 1988 while kneeling on a pillow in front of the DST altar. After asking the Holy Spirit in 2010 if the sorority was causing any blockages in my life, the answer was a big yes. It was hard but obedience is better than sacrifice. Although I renounced 9 years ago, I literally just built up the nerve to tell people and made a video recently. He said I went all out to show I made it in, so we can also publicly testify the goodness of the Lord as we come out.🤗 Peace and Blessings my sister in Christ!

Amen! I denounced this past February. I completely agree the Lord will reveal it when things get quiet and you're seeking him as well. It was revealed to me very clearly a month after I graduated and I went through the process of denouncing within a month because of how unsettled my heart was. Thank you for putting your story out for others to feel.

"I wanted to be down" at one time, however, there were no lines active during my Undergrad tenure due to Hazing, plus I was working 2 jobs while trying to maintain my GPA so I did not have time anyway. I love this! The crazy thing is I really am not even considering Greek life. I still watched this video and I still got a Word out of it because of how you were talking about the ways the Holy Spirit warns you and how your spirit is never comfortable in disobedience. Hello. I'm also Greek. I have seen plenty of denouncing videos and yours is the first that makes sense. Although, I may not share your exact sentiments, I appreciate your content being oriented in a relationship with Christ. Some other videos are only about the pledging process/hazing. So it felt a bit self serving. This video adds perspective and reference points. I've definitely wrestled with the rituals and practices so yeah..something to think about. I've never put my organization before God and never will. So great job. Very direct and unbiased. Sorry about your experience but I'm proud of your obedience.

While I did not get to this point, when looking back on my beginning in joining a sisterhood I realize that in many moments where I thought I was being tested by God on how much I wanted to be in a sorority, I now see that it was God showing me that this path was not his path. It definitely is such a hard thing to talk about, but I know that your testimony will help many others follow in God's footsteps as well.

As a Claflin Alumni I just remember seeing the obsession around Greek organizations and I at one point I did want to pledge but decided against it. But all of that aside, this video spoke VOLUMES to me about how I am with God. I feel DISCOMFORT all of the time especially when I fornicate. I've read through some of the comments that people have left in response to your video and I notice that those who are in orgs know what you're talking about, but don't want to admit that you're right. They must have a sense of conviction because they're here watching the video. They'll begin to see the things that you're talking about because God's word is a seed and it's planted by way of this video. Keep your boldness for Christ sis, it's making a difference!

I too thought about joining a sorority and honestly I've thought about it now post grad. However, i always discern the same thing i did 5 years ago and that is if I am for Him I will not join when I know it will require idolizing something that isn't Him. It is deeper than "Greek life just isn't for everyone" and I guess the same can be said on the other side, "Everyone isn't His". Ive watched alot of videos regarding this topic and I have yet to find one where someone can say yes they are in it and at the same time align Scripture with it. Thats what i was looking for to get the green light and I didn't find it. I also feel like joining Greek is a lot more spiritual than many may think. Words and rituals are so impactful, you never know how pledging to something can effect your life eternally. It's a lot to unpack for sure in this topic! God is good!
I have had nothing but positive experiences in my sorority. Yes the money can be pretty annoying but with me traveling a lot it’s been great to know I have a sisterhood all across the country 💚💞

Society must see the importance and care about education, they shouldn’t see or hear about color. Schools already pick us based of what money they can make of us and how they can keep making money of us! Why try to “fit in” ? Why try to be “accepted”? I am not going to lie, I have been extremely interested in these since I was in 6 grade. Now I am scared to even go try, because it would be so hard knowing I wanted something for so long and it’s not what I wanted it to be. I honestly don’t see it now that I’m in college actually living around it . However, I went to a PWI at first and I heard horrible things about Greeks that I didn’t know existed. Actually a lot of harassment and harmful acts constructed slavery. It was sickening, but I still would’ve tried until I found out my friend has been extremely hurting from it. Thank you so much Girl❤️. I just wanted sisters and a social interaction, so I was willing to “pay for friends” type thing🤦🏽♀️. I wasn’t okay with paying for that pain, so STAY STRONG 💅🏽! I would’ve been uncomfortable too, so they can F*** OFF ! It really got me think about so much. I know that this is more of a powerful networking opportunity that you must pay for and be accepted into, but is that what we should be teaching each other ? It’s okay to not be okay, is that a lesson here? It is..., pain and suffering is hard to heal from! Making it up with girls who have also been hurt, is that are bonding tool? No. EVERYONE is good ENOUGH! We shouldn’t have to stoop low to make certain people feel accepted. 1. Everyone is going through something and if they aren’t they will be. That’s not necessarily a good or bad thing, but you need to overcome challenges and struggles in life to grow. 2. You never know what someone has been through or going through. This is important when you have been effect traumatically or In other hurtful/painful ways, now this is happening. Does hazing equal slavery? Is this what are people fought for ? No. I believe they wanted equal opportunities for are PEOPLE✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿. We should always have that, because the white man will always make us work for him. Do for him, be for him. What about us? Remember when we was taken and brought here. They was mad that we “took their jobs”, NO. They took us, let’s STOP THE Horrible acts against EACH OTHER. Whew ! Denouncing videos usually make me roll my eyes quickly and I cannot deny that this one did the same thing at first however I wanted to watch and hear your story. I was wondering why I never saw you post anything about the sorority but I just thought it was personal preference, not realizing you had left. From following you on social media, I see a lot of positive messages and I was like "oh let me see what she has to say". I loved how you said discussion can lead to discovery, that was "a word" -- Now as a proud member of the organization you left, I must say, I love the Lord and we have a great relationship. I truly believe in the spirit and what it is doing with my life; in the flesh I would never be following purpose and passion while leading others to Him and His promises. In the six years I've been involved with said organization, my faith as grown tremendously, yet and still, no feeling leading to denouncing. I understand everyone's walk with Christ is different so I'm not here to downplay your decision but to simply inquire about a few things. I often wonder, not just from your situation, but others alike. Was this decision because of the chapter, the location, the amount of people, the lack of research, the personal disconnect or the similar. Not saying that God didn't tell you to leave but also wondering what other factors played a role in such a sudden change of heart. I would love to know if you did any real research prior to? I heard you say you wanted to join for your own personal gain so it leads me to ask, was this just a selfish move that you realized wasn't for you? I ask this because the turnover was very quick. If the "signs" were there prior to, why continue and waste your time, energy and money? It would be presumed that in any large or small body of females, especially collegiate aged females that everything wouldn't always be peachy. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing with the world and not bashing those of us who chose to keep our letters too harshly. I look forward to your response as I've never really felt comfortable to question someone who denounced but you warmly welcomed discussion and comments.
Tabitha Tiny Tab James Yay! I’m super thankful that you shared your perspective, experience being Greek, and questions!! Just wanted to start off by saying thank you :) Okay so Glory be to God that your relationship with Christ has grown so much while still being Greek!! I’ve heard of the opposite happening more often, so that’s awesome to hear! So yes, I often tell people that had I been at a different chapter, at different school I would probably still be Greek. However, that doesn’t mean I would be in the will of God for my life. I believe that God used the specific chapter I was apart of to help get my attention and show me what I needed to see. Had it been a different chapter I would have been cared for and possibly more appreciated by those I pledged with and it would have been even more difficult for me to see that Greek life wasn’t God’s best for me. So yes, the chapter was definitely used to play a role in my decision making. And yes again , I did VERY little research on Greek organizations and what the pledging process was like because I knew it was something I wanted to do. I didn’t feel like research was necessary because my mind was already made up. When I started to go through the process, (and I’ll talk about this in the part 2 video) I was a little caught off guard by what was happening which triggered a red flag alert because 1. It wasn’t expected. 2. It was extremely strange to me. And yes, this was indeed a self-promoting, selfish move that was focused primarily on myself. Of course, I had community and impact in mind but it revolved around me. Many, not all of course, other Greeks have self-promotion in mind that is centered on themselves. No, that’s not always a bad thing, however, very often can be linked to pride which can quickly make it a bad thing. I completely ignored the signs. Like I said in the video, my mind and heart was sold out because I couldn’t see pass myself. I wasn’t really concerned about God’s opinion because I wanted what I wanted. And on top of that, I didn’t really take the signs seriously because I was so focused on becoming an aka. And lastly, I didn’t really have sisterhood in mind when I pledge. When I say that I mean, that wasn’t something I was super excited about. So the lack of sisterhood didn’t bother me nor did I expect it to be perfect, but I did expect to be respected. I believe that all those factors, including the disrespect from the people I pledged with, God used to get my attention off of myself and on to Him. I’m soooo happy you felt comfortable enough to voice your opinion and questions!! I think the culture we live in is so focused on seeing from our own individual perspectives that we often mute out, or disqualify other’s opinions because we think ours is the only one that matters. I also want to thank you for being someone who is Greek and willing to watch and listen to my own personal journey. AKA is affiliated with the false god Atlas. The Bible clearly discusses God’s feelings about false gods. In addition, the rituals manipulate scripture, incantations, bowing to dead founders (ancestor worship), evil altars. It’s a big mess if you are a Christian, AKA does not align with the Bible. Where in the Bible does it say it is ok for you to be aligned with a false god? Greek gods are actually talked about in the Bible. I denounced AKA after almost 30 years of membership.
Good question. I think thatGod is opening the eyes of many to see beyond 'what's normal'. Greek orgs are pretty much a societal norm and widely accepted... Just because it's "normal" and been around for a long time people typically don't question its foundation. For the most part, they just join unknowingly and ignorant. And I believe God sees that and is opening the eyes of those that want to see and want to be led by Him, to see the truth behind these organizations. Bowing down and kneeling and pledging one's life (mind, body, and soul) away to an organization is not normal, and I think people are beginning to take note of things like that, that occur in Greek organizations. I think that's what's going.

At first you were like Jonah, praise the Lord you overcame the doubt and fear and became obedient to tell the truth in love, the Greek fraternities and sororities are not of God, the great I Am, Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Kelvin Kelly so great question! I wish I would have been more clear about that in the video. I haven’t done any research on Greek honor societies, or their initiation processes, however, this is how I feel: 1. Pray, it may end up being a waste of your time and money. I know a lot of honor societies that are just trying to get your money so you can put their name on your resume. Many on my campus don’t function, or actual cater to the students. The process is simply paying the money, signing some papers, and then maybe a pledge or some type of oral agreement to the organization. 2. One honor society on campus definitely does have a pledging process, where members are initiated into the organization. If there’s any form of pledging, pray and ask God for insight, also talk to the members about it. If they’re not willing to share, be cautious. I’ve noticed (personally) when members of the org have sworn to secrecy, or won’t talk about the process, that there’s probably something unusual or ungodly that takes place in their imitation process. Secrecy has always been an alert for me, like “what’s their not to tell or to hide from outsiders?”. Once you’ve prayer and asked people, do research! See what perspectives are out their, be led by the Holy Spirit because some people... let’s just say not all research is sound research. 3. Pride and your relationship with God are the top points in this video. So if the org you wants to join doesn’t positively influence your relationship with God, be mindful about joining. A lot of Greek orgs have ties to Ancient Greek affiliations like Greek gods and other Greek forms of worship. Just be mindful of that too. If joining an organization is all about you, be mindful of humility. And God ultimately leads you to success, if He wants you to join the honors society, He’ll show you if it’s necessary for where your going :) Ultimately, pray. Don’t think too deep about it, if you don’t feel peace, don’t force it. If you feel peace, don’t be led by fear! :)
I "had to" sit through multiple moving into dorm videos and then onto moving into sororities videos and then why I stopped rushing videos to finding out about black greek sororities and people leaving them to get to this video. This video is something my Spirit needed to hear. Even as a 42-year-old non-college educated white woman who has been a "Christian" literally all of my life, I needed this check. I'm a member of Delta Sigma Theta for 14 years and am currently active. My experience is nothing to what she and other folks who have denounced their membership. At the end of the day, my heart will always be 100% to God. I feel bad for these new greeks who join sororities and fraternities for reasons that doesnt relate to what their FOUNDERS created. I pray that their soul is complete before joining.
She sought out God... and this is what HE told her to do.... not everyone has that experience with God because of their own personal relationship with HIM... he maybe indeed speaking to you and you are listening. Hello I am also a Claflin Alumni. I graduated from there in 2007. The campus life was good but I never pledged. It just wasnt my thing. I did not like the way that some people changed when they cross over. Some even lost friends behind that and I mean true friends. I also saw when people pushed friends and even their own family aside when they"come out" as a sorority and fraternity member. I just wish you the best and let God lead you where he wants you to go. I was about to pledge when I got there too but I saw how arrogant and hurtful others can be. I am not talking about all Greeks. There are some good ones who stand by what they say and do.

Was actually thinking about transferring to Claflin after receiving my associates degree. Realized that a PWI isn't for me (even though I tried to convince myself that it was).
I have a hard time understanding PanHellenic sororities. Coming from the Panhellenic, we don't see these kinds of issues. More Panhellenic sororities are God based. From what I have seen, a lot of initiating into PanHellenic has a LOT of vanity. Difference in Pride and vanity. Initiations for Panhellenic sororities are private, not so public. It's for members only. You would be surprised how many other sororities have a God perspective. In the last decade, Panhellenic rush has seen an increase in black women going through. I have heard so many horror stories from the PanHellenic side. Feel for you and God bless you. Keep God close and don't let go. I really enjoy your spirituality. Blessings.

However, some of the issues I experienced can definitely develop in nongreek and Greek orgs apart from the divine 9 organizations, my perspective is based on my exposure to the divine 9 orgs :) I think we on the same page! 😅

Obedience is better than sacrifice! I did not grow in my relationship to God until college. By then pledging AKA was already a dream I had for years. God allowed me to go through the process, cross and bring in my first and only line before telling me loudly, this Idolatry is not pleasing to me. I couldn't shake the conviction in my heart and there were no such videos in the 90s so I simply stepped away and refrained from all activities. No one understood my decision, not even devout Christians I spoke to for years who were greek. I felt like an island and although I missed my sisters for some time it was too difficult to be around them when they were still actively involved. I renounced the oaths I made in 1988 while kneeling on a pillow in front of the DST altar. After asking the Holy Spirit in 2010 if the sorority was causing any blockages in my life, the answer was a big yes. It was hard but obedience is better than sacrifice. Although I renounced 9 years ago, I literally just built up the nerve to tell people and made a video recently. He said I went all out to show I made it in, so we can also publicly testify the goodness of the Lord as we come out.🤗 Peace and Blessings my sister in Christ!

Amen! I denounced this past February. I completely agree the Lord will reveal it when things get quiet and you're seeking him as well. It was revealed to me very clearly a month after I graduated and I went through the process of denouncing within a month because of how unsettled my heart was. "I wanted to be down" at one time, however, there were no lines active during my Undergrad tenure due to Hazing, plus I was working 2 jobs while trying to maintain my GPA so I did not have time anyway. Hello. I'm also Greek. I have seen plenty of denouncing videos and yours is the first that makes sense. Although, I may not share your exact sentiments, I appreciate your content being oriented in a relationship with Christ. Some other videos are only about the pledging process/hazing. So it felt a bit self serving. This video adds perspective and reference points. I've definitely wrestled with the rituals and practices so yeah..something to think about. I've never put my organization before God and never will. So great job. Very direct and unbiased. Sorry about your experience but I'm proud of your obedience.

While I did not get to this point, when looking back on my beginning in joining a sisterhood I realize that in many moments where I thought I was being tested by God on how much I wanted to be in a sorority, I now see that it was God showing me that this path was not his path. Girl, God is going to use you mightily for your generation. You are going to be able to hear Him so clearly and are going to steer MANY to the truth. Don’t ever allow anyone to silence you because of your age or because you’re not saying what they want to hear.
Concerning your aunt, I would definitely PRAY for her eyes to be open. Pray before you say anything because she may get offended because it’s a sensitive subject for people that have been devoted to being Greek for a great deal of their lives. Pray God softens her heart, that she’s willing to hear you and Him out, ask God to speak through you and the Holy Spirit to lead you, pray for wisdom and discernment to know when to speak and when not to speak, and just ask God to begin to show her the TRUTH about Greek orgs.
I believe you seeing these videos is not by coincidence. I believe you’re seeing these videos because God is opening up your eyes to something very important in the Body of Christ at an early age. He wants to use you to help others be led away from these organizations. This is not just by chance, it’s God and He has placed an anointing on your life that will shake nations.

As a Claflin Alumni I just remember seeing the obsession around Greek organizations and I at one point I did want to pledge but decided against it. But all of that aside, this video spoke VOLUMES to me about how I am with God. I feel DISCOMFORT all of the time especially when I fornicate. I've read through some of the comments that people have left in response to your video and I notice that those who are in orgs know what you're talking about, but don't want to admit that you're right. They must have a sense of conviction because they're here watching the video. I too thought about joining a sorority and honestly I've thought about it now post grad. However, i always discern the same thing i did 5 years ago and that is if I am for Him I will not join when I know it will require idolizing something that isn't Him. It is deeper than "Greek life just isn't for everyone" and I guess the same can be said on the other side, "Everyone isn't His". Ive watched alot of videos regarding this topic and I have yet to find one where someone can say yes they are in it and at the same time align Scripture with it. Thats what i was looking for to get the green light and I didn't find it. I also feel like joining Greek is a lot more spiritual than many may think. Words and rituals are so impactful, you never know how pledging to something can effect your life eternally. It's a lot to unpack for sure in this topic! God is good!
I have had nothing but positive experiences in my sorority. Yes the money can be pretty annoying but with me traveling a lot it’s been great to know I have a sisterhood all across the country 💚💞

I am really feeling this video, so many different components. Pride was not mainly were this came from girl. I am actually glad you made this, because I’ve heard and seen so much with both PWIs and HBCUs. It’s sad, because I’ve been blind to everything “behind seen”. God-fidence😌💰, I must share. yes ! I wish I wouldn’t knew more before I actually came to college to create something more. I love that we actually have sisterhood at my HBCU and hopefully it will be great for me next year 😫! This is a lot, because I didn’t even look for this video, but it was in things I was interested in. I actually love the way you was talking, so calm and open. I wish people was like that and not so uptight and bothered by everything, but yessss. I know, I go to a HBCU and it’s like every where I go I hear and see the divine 9. PWIs was just worse with so much cruel activity 🤦🏽♀️, but I understand the difference in HBCUs that can be small, because at Cheyney I don’t see what everyone else is discussing or talking about when it comes to many social, economic, development or personal things at our school and with our students. I wish people could see that I am STRONG about my HBCU and I do have passion to change or develop a new path of success for my legacy at this school, but I can not do this change alone. Society must see the importance and care about education, they shouldn’t see or hear about color. Schools already pick us based of what money they can make of us and how they can keep making money of us! Why try to “fit in” ? Why try to be “accepted”? I am not going to lie, I have been extremely interested in these since I was in 6 grade. Now I am scared to even go try, because it would be so hard knowing I wanted something for so long and it’s not what I wanted it to be. I honestly don’t see it now that I’m in college actually living around it . However, I went to a PWI at first and I heard horrible things about Greeks that I didn’t know existed. Actually a lot of harassment and harmful acts constructed slavery. It was sickening, but I still would’ve tried until I found out my friend has been extremely hurting from it. Thank you so much Girl❤️. I just wanted sisters and a social interaction, so I was willing to “pay for friends” type thing🤦🏽♀️. I wasn’t okay with paying for that pain, so STAY STRONG 💅🏽! I would’ve been uncomfortable too, so they can F*** OFF ! It really got me think about so much. I know that this is more of a powerful networking opportunity that you must pay for and be accepted into, but is that what we should be teaching each other ? It’s okay to not be okay, is that a lesson here? It is..., pain and suffering is hard to heal from! Making it up with girls who have also been hurt, is that are bonding tool? No. EVERYONE is good ENOUGH! We shouldn’t have to stoop low to make certain people feel accepted. 1. Everyone is going through something and if they aren’t they will be. That’s not necessarily a good or bad thing, but you need to overcome challenges and struggles in life to grow. 2. You never know what someone has been through or going through. This is important when you have been effect traumatically or In other hurtful/painful ways, now this is happening. Does hazing equal slavery? Is this what are people fought for ? No. I believe they wanted equal opportunities for are PEOPLE✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿. We should always have that, because the white man will always make us work for him. Do for him, be for him. What about us? Remember when we was taken and brought here. They was mad that we “took their jobs”, NO. They took us, let’s STOP THE Horrible acts against EACH OTHER. I live where I see violence and crime oh so much, I wanted to escape to college for knowledge, sisters, experiences and more. Why should I not get that ? I should be scarred more from horrible acts ?

Whew ! Denouncing videos usually make me roll my eyes quickly and I cannot deny that this one did the same thing at first however I wanted to watch and hear your story. I was wondering why I never saw you post anything about the sorority but I just thought it was personal preference, not realizing you had left. From following you on social media, I see a lot of positive messages and I was like "oh let me see what she has to say". I loved how you said discussion can lead to discovery, that was "a word" -- Now as a proud member of the organization you left, I must say, I love the Lord and we have a great relationship. I truly believe in the spirit and what it is doing with my life; in the flesh I would never be following purpose and passion while leading others to Him and His promises.
In the six years I've been involved with said organization, my faith as grown tremendously, yet and still, no feeling leading to denouncing. I understand everyone's walk with Christ is different so I'm not here to downplay your decision but to simply inquire about a few things.
I often wonder, not just from your situation, but others alike. Was this decision because of the chapter, the location, the amount of people, the lack of research, the personal disconnect or the similar. Not saying that God didn't tell you to leave but also wondering what other factors played a role in such a sudden change of heart.
I would love to know if you did any real research prior to? I heard you say you wanted to join for your own personal gain so it leads me to ask, was this just a selfish move that you realized wasn't for you? I ask this because the turnover was very quick. If the "signs" were there prior to, why continue and waste your time, energy and money? It would be presumed that in any large or small body of females, especially collegiate aged females that everything wouldn't always be peachy. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing with the world and not bashing those of us who chose to keep our letters too harshly. I look forward to your response as I've never really felt comfortable to question someone who denounced but you warmly welcomed discussion and comments.

Okay so Glory be to God that your relationship with Christ has grown so much while still being Greek!! I’ve heard of the opposite happening more often, so that’s awesome to hear!
So yes, I often tell people that had I been at a different chapter, at different school I would probably still be Greek. However, that doesn’t mean I would be in the will of God for my life. I believe that God used the specific chapter I was apart of to help get my attention and show me what I needed to see. Had it been a different chapter I would have been cared for and possibly more appreciated by those I pledged with and it would have been even more difficult for me to see that Greek life wasn’t God’s best for me. So yes, the chapter was definitely used to play a role in my decision making.
And yes again , I did VERY little research on Greek organizations and what the pledging process was like because I knew it was something I wanted to do. I didn’t feel like research was necessary because my mind was already made up. When I started to go through the process, (and I’ll talk about this in the part 2 video) I was a little caught off guard by what was happening which triggered a red flag alert because 1. It wasn’t expected. 2. It was extremely strange to me.
And yes, this was indeed a self-promoting, selfish move that was focused primarily on myself. Of course, I had community and impact in mind but it revolved around me. Many, not all of course, other Greeks have self-promotion in mind that is centered on themselves. No, that’s not always a bad thing, however, very often can be linked to pride which can quickly make it a bad thing.
I completely ignored the signs. Like I said in the video, my mind and heart was sold out because I couldn’t see pass myself. I wasn’t really concerned about God’s opinion because I wanted what I wanted. And on top of that, I didn’t really take the signs seriously because I was so focused on becoming an aka.
And lastly, I didn’t really have sisterhood in mind when I pledge. When I say that I mean, that wasn’t something I was super excited about. So the lack of sisterhood didn’t bother me nor did I expect it to be perfect, but I did expect to be respected. I believe that all those factors, including the disrespect from the people I pledged with, God used to get my attention off of myself and on to Him.
I’m soooo happy you felt comfortable enough to voice your opinion and questions!! I think the culture we live in is so focused on seeing from our own individual perspectives that we often mute out, or disqualify other’s opinions because we think ours is the only one that matters. I also want to thank you for being someone who is Greek and willing to watch and listen to my own personal journey. AKA is affiliated with the false god Atlas. The Bible clearly discusses God’s feelings about false gods. In addition, the rituals manipulate scripture, incantations, bowing to dead founders (ancestor worship), evil altars. It’s a big mess if you are a Christian, AKA does not align with the Bible. Where in the Bible does it say it is ok for you to be aligned with a false god? Greek gods are actually talked about in the Bible. I denounced AKA after almost 30 years of membership.

Good question. I think thatGod is opening the eyes of many to see beyond 'what's normal'. Greek orgs are pretty much a societal norm and widely accepted... Just because it's "normal" and been around for a long time people typically don't question its foundation. For the most part, they just join unknowingly and ignorant. And I believe God sees that and is opening the eyes of those that want to see and want to be led by Him, to see the truth behind these organizations.
Bowing down and kneeling and pledging one's life (mind, body, and soul) away to an organization is not normal, and I think people are beginning to take note of things like that, that occur in Greek organizations. I think that's what's going.

At first you were like Jonah, praise the Lord you overcame the doubt and fear and became obedient to tell the truth in love, the Greek fraternities and sororities are not of God, the great I Am, Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Amen joining the sorority was completely selfish, pride, characteristics that should NOT be apart of a person who claims to be a Christian. Amen Godfidence! Amen God's purpose, God's truth, God's ministry.
How do you feel about alpha phi sigma honors society? Do you feel it falls into the same category with all the others based on the ings you've said in this video?
Kelvin Kelly so great question! I wish I would have been more clear about that in the video. I haven’t done any research on Greek honor societies, or their initiation processes, however, this is how I feel:
1. Pray, it may end up being a waste of your time and money. I know a lot of honor societies that are just trying to get your money so you can put their name on your resume. Many on my campus don’t function, or actual cater to the students. The process is simply paying the money, signing some papers, and then maybe a pledge or some type of oral agreement to the organization.
2. One honor society on campus definitely does have a pledging process, where members are initiated into the organization. If there’s any form of pledging, pray and ask God for insight, also talk to the members about it. If they’re not willing to share, be cautious. I’ve noticed (personally) when members of the org have sworn to secrecy, or won’t talk about the process, that there’s probably something unusual or ungodly that takes place in their imitation process. Secrecy has always been an alert for me, like “what’s their not to tell or to hide from outsiders?”. Once you’ve prayer and asked people, do research! See what perspectives are out their, be led by the Holy Spirit because some people... let’s just say not all research is sound research.
3. Pride and your relationship with God are the top points in this video. So if the org you wants to join doesn’t positively influence your relationship with God, be mindful about joining. A lot of Greek orgs have ties to Ancient Greek affiliations like Greek gods and other Greek forms of worship. Just be mindful of that too. If joining an organization is all about you, be mindful of humility. And God ultimately leads you to success, if He wants you to join the honors society, He’ll show you if it’s necessary for where your going :)
Ultimately, pray. Don’t think too deep about it, if you don’t feel peace, don’t force it. If you feel peace, don’t be led by fear! :)

This video is something my Spirit needed to hear. Even as a 42-year-old non-college educated white woman who has been a "Christian" literally all of my life, I needed this check. Honey Bea hey Soror! I come across these videos and wonder how this stuff happens. I joined the org for the service we provide the community not for the popularity or anything that comes along with it.
I'm a member of Delta Sigma Theta for 14 years and am currently active. My experience is nothing to what she and other folks who have denounced their membership. At the end of the day, my heart will always be 100% to God. I feel bad for these new greeks who join sororities and fraternities for reasons that doesnt relate to what their FOUNDERS created. I pray that their soul is complete before joining.
She sought out God... and this is what HE told her to do.... not everyone has that experience with God because of their own personal relationship with HIM... he maybe indeed speaking to you and you are listening. There are a lot of things in life that are disguised as Good and are not of God.... IJS🤷🏽♀️

Hello I am also a Claflin Alumni. I graduated from there in 2007. The campus life was good but I never pledged. It just wasnt my thing. I did not like the way that some people changed when they cross over. Some even lost friends behind that and I mean true friends. I also saw when people pushed friends and even their own family aside when they"come out" as a sorority and fraternity member. I just wish you the best and let God lead you where he wants you to go. I was about to pledge when I got there too but I saw how arrogant and hurtful others can be. I am not talking about all Greeks. There are some good ones who stand by what they say and do.

I have a hard time understanding PanHellenic sororities. Coming from the Panhellenic, we don't see these kinds of issues. More Panhellenic sororities are God based. From what I have seen, a lot of initiating into PanHellenic has a LOT of vanity. Difference in Pride and vanity. Initiations for Panhellenic sororities are private, not so public. It's for members only. You would be surprised how many other sororities have a God perspective. In the last decade, Panhellenic rush has seen an increase in black women going through. I have heard so many horror stories from the PanHellenic side. Feel for you and God bless you. Keep God close and don't let go. I really enjoy your spirituality. Blessings.
Amy Kolterman yeah, I’m speaking specifically on divine 9. Not really other orgs. However, some of the issues I experienced can definitely develop in nongreek and Greek orgs apart from the divine 9 organizations, my perspective is based on my exposure to the divine 9 orgs :)

Obedience is better than sacrifice! I did not grow in my relationship to God until college. By then pledging AKA was already a dream I had for years. God allowed me to go through the process, cross and bring in my first and only line before telling me loudly, this Idolatry is not pleasing to me. I couldn't shake the conviction in my heart and there were no such videos in the 90s so I simply stepped away and refrained from all activities. No one understood my decision, not even devout Christians I spoke to for years who were greek. I felt like an island and although I missed my sisters for some time it was too difficult to be around them when they were still actively involved. I chose to listen to God's voice rather than my own yearning
