It sounds like a 60s spy movie. It's so cool and so eerie. In my mindseye, I see Russian spies handing over documents by a phone box on a rainy busy street while MI5 lie in wait.
Why do I love the Invasion, a simple comment won't ever summarise it for me, this story had so much, the regulars were on top form, the UNIT battle sequences were fantastic to watch, Kevin Stoney steals the show every scene he's in, the effects are amazing, and this soundtrack, oh my god i love this soundtrack to high heaven and back, it could not be any better, the different tones and pace between the different tracks, and the location work is remarkable
This has got to be one of my favourite Cyberman stories EVER up there with The Age of Steel How they kept it so gripping for 4 episodes WITHOUT the Cybermen I've no idea 8 episodes does this story justice
Stuart Hibbard it's definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of music in Classic Who. Just watched "The Invasion" today, one of the best Cybermen story ever!
This story is one of my favourites. Epic story, epic music, unforgettable characters and the introduction of one of my all-time favourite characters: Sergeant (or here Corporal) Benton :D
This is an above average story. If I had any complaints I would say that the Cybermen are a little underwhelming at times but the atmosphere they manage to inject into late 60's Dr Who is quite fascinating. This is Camfields masterpiece though. The action is superb. The music is really effective at tension & suspense. I like the use of Bass Guitar & Dulcimer. However it doesn't get everything right because it is a little conventional & not alien enough at times. I think this is why they used the Radiophonic Workshop for the Invasion sequence. However, it does lift an otherwise dark story! This is a curious look back at how things felt once. It shall never occur again. It almost makes you feel sad to have something so immersive of a world so far away. Doctor Who is truly time travel.
0:50 I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best - if not THE best scores the series had!!
This and The Robots Of Death.
Tobias Vaughn has a good taste in lo-fi lounge music.
