I saw a program about American pilots who became prisoners of war during the war in Viet Nam. Some of them talked about how valuable it was for them to have Scripture in their hearts. At times when you have no access to a Bible may be the time you need God's Word the most.

I enrolled one summer in a MA program at Middlebury College, in French. I had to swear off English altogether. To honor God first, I decided to memorize the Sermon on the Mount IN FRENCH during the six week program. I nearly made it! And I did far better in the program than I had expected.

Thank you so much Kirk for sharing this. I recently shared on FB about how I wanted to start memorizing scripture again . I memorized scripture when I was younger and want to refresh my memory of those scriptures and start to memorize one of the books of the Bible. It's so comforting and makes you feel close to the Lord having HIs Word hidden in your heart.

Jesus, lift me out of my debts and provide me financial stability. As a single mother things are hard on me. I’m broken hearted. My husband passed years ago. I’m alone. Both of my sons are autistic and require so much from me. I’m constantly struggling to provide for them. Why me Lord. My life has always been a struggle from being abused as a child to not having a family like most folks. Father God hear my prayers. I’m ashamed as I constantly struggle to pay my bills and I constantly struggle to provide groceries for my sons. Please Jesus bless me with a job opportunity that allows me to provide abundantly for my children. I will keep faith even though I want to give up. Please hear my Father. ❤😊

you need to stop preying on Gods people, and using God for your gain. i see you everywhere over the years with same comment. You need to repent and seek forgiveness, before its too late. Shame on you for this. I know this is just a scam. Fear the Lord, cuz hell is real

Just want to add: here sits a 63 year old head, okay? And me and my Bible mentor, over the last couple of years, have managed to memorize several passages (short) of scripture. We check each other on it to keep it fresh and still in our minds, and that LITTLE bit, has been a life saver for each of us, several times over. We're talking maybe 9 separate scriptures, total of 18 verses. It took a long time, but it is amazing!

I’ve been memorizing a verse or passage everyday since June 3. Of course at this rate I definitely review and recommit the verses to my long term memory every day. I’m 65 and thought I was too old too learn. But I realize I didn’t desire the time and effort this discipline would take for me. You’re never too old to learn and God is using this to change me. I’ve been a Christian for over 40 years and have seen Him him work over and over in my life. He now is working inside my heart and giving me glimpses of His glory.

@@judyfluck1346 my Bible app sends a verse a day. I just started with that. Some are short and others are longer. That was my starting point. I highlight them in the app and have started also highlighting in my regular Bible so I can keep up there also. I’ve also added to the verses because the verse is referencing the previous verse. For example if it starts “for this reason” it makes me want to learn also what that reason was. But I only have been doing that for about 4 weeks.

Kirk, as I picture you as Buck Williams on the Left Behind series, I can't help but be concerned about if our immediate access to scripture is interrupted, either because of a catastrophe or on purpose. I am nearly 80, and memorization is not easy for me. But having the Word hidden in my heart to help myself and others is more important. Thank you for sharing this message!

Well in short, no matter what the issue or excuse . Pouring God’s word into your self daily has a few benefits and affects.
    1) it strengthens your relationship with Christ and there are many affects in just that .
    2) if your married, it will not only strengthen your relationship with God, but also your relationship with your spouse. Not according to your observation but according to thier relationship with Christ.
    3) it will also strengthen your relationship with fellow Christians
    4) it will also strengthen your resolve in and with your approach with nonbelievers.
And here is the amazing thing that happens also . Even with out sitting down in your quiet time and reading and writing and doing a memorization process
You will begin to understand and memorize scripture even with a human process. WHY? Because of the work of the Holy Spirit inside you who has been working the whole time !!!
The Holy Spirit will always lead you in His direction never in error

Seek ye first, and all these things shall be added to you? This makes sense even to a secular/atheistic practitioner of yoga. I think that prayer can slow down time, obviating the need for food, shelter, medicine, ect.

    • @thecrew777

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness And all these things will be added unto you, allelu - allelu-yah.
Except for the last two words (Allelu, allelu-yah), that's scripture! That's from a song though. So using music to memorize also works well.
P.S. You still need food, shelter, etc. You can put it off. But not indefinitely.
And just remember, the scripture you're pointing to says "And all these things will be added unto you"

Choose something short. Try Job 5:7, for instance "Yet man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward." That's simple. Keep at it and if you can, find someone to "spot" you like you're working out in gym. Someone to tell you "pull back" or "you can do it" or "watch out!". Think of particular verses dear to your heart, and start with those, even if you memorized them as a child.

How important is forgiveness? Does it replace self-sacrifice or the sacrifice of others? . If you had known what these words mean, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent."
Did Jesus teach that he or anyone else can be both flesh and spirit? "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
How do we know that God forgives us? "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. "
Can we both love and fear God? "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love"
God knows nothing of time. We have eternity to return to God. Eternity is not a long, long time. It's no time. In reality, we never left God. "The kingdom of heaven is within you.'

    And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters;
26 And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.

Here's some beautiful scriptures that you need to memorize and share with your children!
Exodus 34:25---"Do not offer a blood sacrifice to the Lord with anything that contains yeast. And do not boil a baby goat in its mothers milk."
Leviticus 15:13--"When a man with a genital emission is cleansed of his discharge, he must take two doves or two pigeons and offer them to the priest as a burnt offering to make atonement before the Lord because of his discharge."..(and a woman is also commanded to offer pigeons and doves as an animal sacrifice to atone for her menstrual flow. Wonderful stuff, right?)
Leviticus 21:17---The Lord said to Moses, "Any man who is blind, lame, a dwarf or who has festering sores or crushed testicles is not allowed to be a priest."
And it is the will of God to solve his problems with apocalyptic mass murder, including the horrible drowning of millions of people (including men, women, children, and babies) and billions of animals (though apparently sparing fish for some reason):
[The LORD said to Noah], “I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights. And I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.” … Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days … The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered. … All flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind; of all that was on the dry land, all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. Thus He blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark.
    GENESIS 7:4, 17-23
It is the will of God that you murder anyone who picks up a stick on a Saturday:
Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day. Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation, and they put him in custody, because it had not been declared what should be done to him. Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
    NUMBERS 15:32-36
It is the will of God that you commit genocide when he wants you to:
“When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you … and when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them. Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them. You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.”
    DEUTERONOMY 7:1-3
The LORD said to me, “See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to occupy, that you may possess his land.” Then Sihon with all his people came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz. The LORD our God delivered him over to us, and we defeated him with his sons and all his people. So we captured all his cities at that time and utterly destroyed the men, women and children of every city. We left no survivor.
    DEUTERONOMY 2:31-34
Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan, and Og, king of Bashan, with all his people came out to meet us in battle at Edrei. But the LORD said to me, “Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand, and you shall do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.” So the LORD our God delivered Og also, king of Bashan, with all his people into our hand, and we smote them until no survivor was left. We captured all his cities at that time. There was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates and bars, besides a great many unwalled towns. We utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women and children of every city.
    DEUTERONOMY 3:1-6
Thus Joshua struck all the land, the hill country and the Negev and the lowland and the slopes and all their kings. He left no survivor, but he utterly destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
    JOSHUA 10:40
There was not a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivites living in Gibeon; they took them all in battle. For it was [the will] of the LORD to harden their hearts, [so they would] meet Israel in battle in order that he might utterly destroy them, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
    JOSHUA 11:19-20
Thus says the LORD of hosts, “I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.”
    1 SAMUEL 15:2-3
It is the will of God that you can buy and keep slaves:
“As for your male and female slaves whom you may have-you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you. Then, too, it is out of the sons of the sojourners who live as aliens among you that you may gain acquisition, and out of their families who are with you, whom they will have produced in your land; they also may become your possession. You may even bequeath them to your sons after you, to receive as a possession; you can use them as permanent slaves.”
    LEVITICUS 25:44-46
It is the will of God that you can make sex slaves of prisoners of war:
“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and the LORD your God delivers them into your hands and you take them away captive, and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire for her and would take her as a wife for yourself, then you shall bring her home to your house…”
    DEUTERONOMY 21:10-12
And Moses said to them, “Have you spared all the women? Behold, these caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, so the plague was among the congregation of the LORD. Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves.”

@user-nf4bv1nu1e Oh Kirk, I'm not remotely suprised that quoting the primitive, barbaric and vile nonsense that saturates your ancient holy book does nothing but go in one side of your deluded mind and immediately exit the other side without a single thought as to whether or not such idiotic lunacy could really be inspired by the Creator of our Universe. Watching you talk about Christianity is just like watching Tom Cruise talk about Scientology. And if you haven't had the experience of watching the UA-cam video where Tom shares his passion for the nonsense that is Scientolgy, I would encourage you to do so. Because the way you will feel while watching Tom Cruise speak about his outlandish religion is exactly how nonbelievers feel when they watch a deluded fool like yourself speak about Christianity.
