I went through BMT not able to contact anyone outside unless I'm willing to sacrifice admin time queuing to use the phone. . Sure, I'm from a different generation, may not be able to fully comprehend the feelings of the current generation. . I would say the challenges and difficulty are unique to each generation.
I did my BMT at Pulau Tekong in 1977, 45 years ago. Good to see that we still have the same Singaporean experience that mould civilians into a viable war fighting team. My advise to all recruits - it's important to make friends and make the best of this time gaining an unusual life experience many dun have a chance to. So take it like a man.
Wondering if they still have those grenade assault course with the bayonet and back crawl into deep water trenches covered with con wire mesh. Also the battle assault course with the GPMG firing overhead crawling below mesh con wire.
Mine was 2008 BMT I think.(too long can't remember) Yeah we never touch M16 at all for entire BMT. But we still had that charge course and asked to performa that charging with bayonet. Even though we were only trained on SAR21 like these guys. It was rather a quick one that as long as you charge and display some aggressiveness they'll be ok with it. Yeah we still had MG crawl. But comapred to these kids today they're just too blessed. We didn't have any protection. No kneecap or elbow covers. Only like couple years after my BMT they started to allow kneecap cover and eventually in the video they allow you to shell your elbow as well. I rememberred the MG craw to this day because I pushed myself too hard without stopping. So I grinded my elbows and kneecap pretty hard and lost couple of layers of skins. Was completely blood red after that. And somehow I said F it. Never did anything with the wounds and carried on to cookhouse, and subsequent training in long 4s which I cannot recall the activity anymore. All I rememberred was the pain of scratching from every movement afte that and somehow I powered through. Was lucky enough I didn't get any infection off from that. Good life these kid had.
Ahh, softening up. Wasn't shown in the actual episode. I'm glad there's still softening up before giving the letters. Adds more meaning to their letters.
I had my field camp in 2016. Turn out at night during field camp is unheard of already, at most is if it starts raining then will move everyone to shelter thats about it.
@@widetech Good for ya. We even had turn outs for SIT-test(heard no more now)nights. But it was mainly because of wild boar attacks. Thinking back now It was pretty funny reflex. You pack maggie, wild animals will show up.
during those early batches, SAF soldiers have to bayonet charge towards enemy's site, now no more bayonet charge for these new batches, how good life SAF are
Hey SAF, 15 years back we already have lazer and virtual life system to simulate war fight, let's make our son some AR tech and I think they will love their two years.
Walau ~ still can check handphone messages after bath. My time bathe is only 5 mugs of water of size mug used for brushing teeth. Kenna “standby body”???? - every part of your naked body must be covered with antiseptic powder. It is a joke played by commanders then during field camp training.
Tesr101 ng Jie you you'll. Your's BMT buddy's is your's family members ❤️❤️❤️ now. Maybe your's family members just busy when you'll booking out can see each others already
I went through BMT without a single letter from my loved one

Bmt was the only time I used the mess tin. I scraped the scoot off after that and preserved it in Ziploc. Gonna Mr soon with the Ziploc unopened since

I think so, it's the battle inoculation course but not part of field camp
SAR 21 cannot fix bayonets so no more grenade assault course, that one super siong those early days have to charge with bayonets fixed on M16
the battle inoculation course where theres a GPMG firing overhead is still present, but the grenade assault course is not anymore

If you cook in the jungle, the enemy aircraft fly above. If they see the fire, they will bombard the whole area!

Was wondering if they still have turn outs in the 3 nights
