Peaceful protest is one thing. Criminal damage is another. These people have gone beyond peaceful protest.
suffragettes -go research and shush. you are an embarrassment-and a coward
When peaceful protest proves fruitless, the protest has to change.
@@acex222 when the protest changes from peacful to non expect consequences for the change. As long as your willing to accept the consequences then do as you will.
@acex222 Well their not only GOING TO JAIL.....but turning people against their cause. Wake up!!!
@@acex222 As pointed out by numerous pundits, the biggest pollutors are in China, and you don't see them going there to protest! Violence is the solution to weak minds when protests aren't working!
Maybe because their arguments are very weak? And they're hypocritical? 😂😂😂
Having a lawyer who publicly endorses your crimes is not a great strategy.
The lawyer certainly has no respect for the law.
ALL lawyers jobs are to defend criminals. Can’t blame them for doing their job.
@@tavuong666 Of course, but the lawyer's statement went beyond that, more activist than lawyer.

But the problem is, these people have been brainwashed into believing that consequences for their actions are acts of bravery towards their cause. They expect to be punished for what they are doing, and this brings them even MORE attention! Sadly, none of this will deter these people from this behavior, it will only encourage it!

One of them is in prison now. She went and caused damages at an airport the very next day after being found guilty of the painting incident, so they have locked her up indefinitely.

Their campaign has turned the public against green issues more than towards it
10 years in prison minimum.

There's a difference between protesting, vandalism and public nuisance.
no there isnt. History shows that the sufragettes got the result they campaigned for by being Law breakers and using tactics that cause vandalism and public nuisance. how many campaigns have you been involved in?

vandalism is not a protest. It's a crime.
They should have used tins of Campbell's and said it was a modern art piece
Tooo long
Correct. They aren't being charged for protesting. They are being charged for vandalism.
If they just stood outside of the museum and peacefully protested for their cause with a couple of signs, they wouldn't be in the trouble they're in. And maybe some people would be a little more sympathetic to their cause. But not now.
Please keep us updated on this !!
10 years no parole for each. plus costs.
10 years in jail would be about right.
I doubt they’ll serve 1 year!
And paint all the inside walls...
A little harsh but it would send a message.
20 years is a better number!
Crime is easier to deter if punishment is harsh and unwavering. No more woke pats on the hand😊
God I can’t stand these self righteous snobs
I’m sick and tired of this cult of earth worshipers, who no absolutely nothing about the truth.
Why didn’t they just leave them there?
They should be charged the maximum....
Glass or no glass, the intent was there!!
I believe that they were so concentrated on getting to the painting and quickly gluing themselves to the wall. they didn't think whether or not it was glass . Watch the video again. That pink haired punk looked shocked..
Nah, they were in a building, not in a tent...
Plus, behind glass doesn’t mean ‘sealed’ in glass. Liquid can find a gap if there is enough pressure behind it, such as the force exerted in slapping soup on it.
If these idiots glue themselves to anything, I think they should just leave them there, till they expire.
But, there is ALWAYS a pane of glass over these paintings, and they must have KNOWN there was, even if they couldn't see it (which they probably could). Therefore (I'm not excusing these morons, but ...) there WAS NO INTENT. Unless you have the IQ of an oyster, you must know that the soup-throwing would be purely symbolic, and that the glass pane could easily be cleaned. I do not see that this warrants being treated as a serious crime. Being an idiot is not (yet) a criminal offence.
They abused soup so now they are going to do porridge.

Those girls must be livid, they'd have been told they would only have to pay for damages, which would be funded by the just stop oil financiers.
Turns out repayment comes in more than monetary form.
Wait just before 6 years, then sue them, the money backers will be long gone.
what would be the point of suing them then? If you sue someone and they have no means to pay you, your just wasting money on legal fees which you'll not get back as they don't have any money to pay you. There is absolutely no point of suing someone when you know they can't pay you.
@@Salopian_mumbles Unless the idea is to bankrupt them
@@kimyeap1124 what would be the point of that? You'd have to pay the legal fees as they don't have the means to pay so the court could make an order for costs and damafes, they can't ne forced to pay something if they haven't got it it pay. and if they don't have assets to sell; which would have been looked at by the court to recover the fees and pay damages, being made bankrupt isnt gonna make any difference as they have nothing to lose in the first place, all it'll mean is that they will be debt free and after a few years have a clean slate of a credit record.
@@Salopian_mumbles Someone speaking sense for once! You're correct.
However, just like certain debts that can be garnished from your wages automatically, could a similar, lengthy penalty be applied here? Something like £200-300 a month for 20 years, adjusted for inflation?

They have the right to protest. They have the right to their beliefs. They do not have the right to cause criminal damage and they do not have the right to impede the movements of other citizens. The simple fact is, if you want to win people to your side you do not do everything you can to antagonise them. These "activists" have probably done more harm for their cause than anyone.
They don't care. These two morons believe they are "internet famous". They only want attention to themselves. They couldn't care less about the climate.
Their cause is to appear the most virtuous of their equally moronic friends so they probably haven't hurt their cause.
Exactly..
Salt Lake City is in the process of building an “inland port” and the announcement was an instant magnet for environmentalist activists (totally fine) and environmental radical groups who began attacking the project organizers, smashing windows, smearing fecal matter on city buildings etc. Utah in general is a very VERY conservative state, I mean Bill Clinton came in 3rd in 1992😂 If the people who were opposed to the port had come in and presented their arguments and concerns in an appropriate manner, they might have been able to win some concessions or maybe influence the planners to rethink their plans. But by responding the way they did, two million Utah residents collectively said, “Well, I guess we’re all for this inland port thing.”
They were only there for publicity, to get their mugs on T.V. Put them in jail.
