@midierror Takes 5 Minutes with the Korg Electribe ER-1 for a trip down memory lane with the classic Korg Electribe ER-1 MKI from 1999 - a great unit for brutal, speedy beats. It can be found used for £150-200 - midierror totally recommends it.

Loved making this and have IMMENSE LOVE for the Korg Electribe series! Hope you enjoy the sounds - there are some free loops for Sonicstate Patreon Supporters ❤
I still have mine from '00, possibly my favorite drum machine ever.
Yeah, its an absolute beast!
One of my favorite boxes ever. Inspiration generation .
I love this thing, it's an underrated gem! I have both MK1 and MK2, they are quite different in sound! For the MK2 I think Korg wanted to get rid of the aliasing in MK1 and it sounds too "perfect". In fact I prefer the aliased sound of the MK1
Loved my mk2 still regret selling it
It’s a sick little puppy, but not as ill as the Korg iElectribe on the iPad; that baby is a true gem!!! It’s very experimental plus U can record all your creations
Interesting!
I think it’s just the difference between ring mod and cross mod is all. Ring mod can get waaay out there while cross mod is tamer but more consistent.
My first piece of hardware, great memories!
Mine too 🙃
Came for the ER-1, stayed for the tiles
Superb! It's my friends table😅
Kitchen sync 🚰🎛🎵❤
I watch synth videos all the time, and somehow it’s this one that freaked out my cat. 😂 The scifi stuff in the first minute or so really got her.
We must have done something right !
I had one back in the early 2000's. Was a little fun box with really unusual sounds. My only con was the quality of the knobs. They always felt extremely wobbly...
But I loved that unit.
They are wobbly but they still do the trick - sometimes changing them back to original setting is a bit of a fiddle... but otherwise they operate as new!
great seeing you using these older units . any chance of doing a es1 video sampler etc ? nice work guys
Wow, I happened to buy a local Mk2 the day this came out
Always kept this one and never will sell it. Versatile and fun.
I have mk2 and it's so great! Drumlogue on way!!!
Thanks, that was fun! Love those automation loops.
The Volca drum sounds similar to this box to my ears.
So, you all would recommend the Mk1 over the Mk2? This thing sounds great!
I have mine paired with a novation drum station , they play well together
Always wanted one of these.
Get one before they become extinct!!
This thing can make some insanely grimey grooves.
I have owned the Electribe2 for about 7 years, it is a wonderful groove box full of high quality samples that can be manipulated to precisely fit a composition of any genre. I would ask Korg on your next new design of the Electribe to add to the cost and offer at least 4 outputs of high quality DACs and preamps to make this great little instrument professional usable. Without post processing from multiple outputs I can't use all the features, just the stereo output of maybe the high hats and snare, can't run the full kit and 16 parts using the low quality internal effects.
Yeah... multiple outputs is always better. It is possible to mod some drum machines to achieve this (eg. TR-505) but we've not seen it done on the ER-1
Great video, this really sounds awesome!!
YASSSS
I’m on my third one upgraded with Electribe Shaman firmware which makes knobs transmit CCs. Absolute killer sequencer for Atlas 2. I use the Ring Mod button to enable hot swapping of samples. Super fast way to build beats with the versatility of multiple outs in the daw. I have a TR-8S too, but this one is faster to use and I’m keeping it!
Oooh nice tip!
Great box. It can get very, very weird, and it's quite intuitive to use.
My first groovebox!
Took one to the pub just yesterday...
What did you order for it?
@@sonicstate ha - framboise for me; I'm afraid the Korg had to stay dry....
Still gassing for an er1 and ea1 combo to jam out on for live gigs
Hold on a moment. This is under 200bpm; what have you done with the real @midierror??? Or have you just slowed down the video? Great demo of a classic 👍🤪
HELP!!! They have kept me in a cage and forced me to play beats below 200BPM 😂
@@midierror 🤣🤣🤣
the best synthesizer of all time tbh
I had it when it came out , fond memories of it
I'd say the korg vst and ipad edition are almost identical
Times were so simple then
I have the new(ish) one es2 but this sounds great !
My favorite drum machine for making electro music.
I have it as a plugin, but I'm going to buy an original one, which I'm waiting to get, it's a great thing.
Any crew..............Any crew..............
Still got mine modified 🤓
What did you have done??
Is that the sound chip mod?
I stil lhave my ER-1, and I also have the Analog-Modeling brother, the EA-1. There is also the sampler version, the ES-1. The original Electribes are fun machines to work with!
Classic machine
And now I suddenly miss my first drum machine I ever owned.
Oh it’s model cycles Mk 0
Haha !
Middle finger warning! 🤣
Very obervant! Not intentional
iOS version is a reasonable alternative
It is a good alternative but it sounds quite different from the hw versions, I compared them A/B/C MK1/MK2/iOS
It sounds so Chemical Brothers back in 90s! (Dig your own hole, etc.)
A compliment to the machine and midierror !
@sonicstate Absolutety, yes! Elektrobank, Setting Sun, Block rockin' beats, Where do I begin, the Private Psychedelic Reel. It's all over the place in this one! Damn, now I need an ER1... 🤣
I need to start using mine…I bought one new and hardly ever messed around with them it!
Has anyone ever figured out how to trigger the four synth tones pitch by an outside midi controller?
Never should have sold it 😢
Then at 3:45 it sounds like Lotus Turbo Esprit Challenge
Haha yeah... the sound of the engine 🤣 Classic game !
Nice video!
And proper fingernails for a change is refreshing 😉
What do you mean by proper fingernails?
@@0Fdigital
Men's fingers with long nails with colourful gel polish, playing keyboard, distracted me.
But maybe it's my weirdness 😄
@@YanivhmTube You might want to keep that to yourself. If something so small is enough to distract you, that's on you. People should do whatever they want with their personal aesthetic, whether they're a man, woman, or non-binary.
@@0Fdigital
Thanks for the fascinating lesson about political correctness 😄
I have no problem with any gender or any personal taste of anyone. It does distract me when gender coercion is being pushed into my face on a 61-key keyboard. I watch people play, their sexual preferences taste doesn't interest me and I prefer not to be informed about it in a an explicit and deliberate way. Thats all.
And again it's just my personal preference and I worth it with self-awareness and humor 😉
@@YanivhmTube m8, you're the one equating sexual preferences and gender with *painted nails*
love the digital synth tracks and the delay, but those pcm cymbals sound like a$$.
As mentioned in the video, the PCM sounds can be replaced
