- In this video, we're going to talk about Halo Infinite and what 343 Industries did to make it not playable on older graphics cards.
Halo Infinite was supposed to be the return of the Halo franchise, but it seems like it's not going to be that way for a lot of players. Many people are reporting that Halo Infinite no longer plays well on their older graphics cards, and 343 Industries has not yet released a patch to fix the issue. What happened? I was running fine on a new gaming laptop for a few days, then it started stuttering after that for some reason. Bigger issue, even when it was running fine it often caused my PC to inexplicably Hibernate (which required me to turn the computer off and on again to get it back on). None of my other games I've tried on the computer so far did this (my guess is its a heat issue since I tried exposing the fans better whenever I was searching for games or dead and it seemed to take longer to hibernate, though it might just be a placebo effect) I think this was all during Season 3 but if I remember correctly there was a update somewhere in there (not quite sure). This was like last week. I don't know much about the hardware stuff and what is better and worse but my CPU is i9 and GPU is 3070 which I heard is decent when getting advice on what to pick. I bought MCC this week and it runs fine. The laggiest games on my old computer were World War 3 and Battlefield 5 which I haven't tried yet, but Battlefield 4 and Battefield 1 run fine, Battlefield 2042 ran fine over the free week, so everything I've tried but Halo Infinite worked fine. And again Halo Infinite is the only one that makes my PC hibernate. Shame, I was really getting into it (it was my first Halo game so I had nothing better to compare it to, and so I was really liking it as a nice bit of variety compared to my usual big, fast TTK Battlefield games)
Edit: Well just yesterday Battlefield 4 caused the computer to restart lol. Maybe its not completely Halo Infinite's fault here. But I was running a bunch of stuff in the background for Battlefield.
I'm not sure. It runs fine for me on my laptop and I own a I5 tenth gen with a 1650 an 8 gig of ram. Maybe it's a optimization issue? I have my graphics turned down a fair bit so I can play it well...

Stumbled upon this video. I was running a GTX1060 up untill a month ago. Now I have a new rig with a RTX3060ti. I think quite a few people still have 10XX series cards.
Looked at a recent servey and the GTX 1660 is still one of the most used cards on Steam.
@@GamerJlee Not surprised at all. I guess they enjoy FSR and other upsampling techniques like I did for quite a while. Now I can finally turn that off an render it natively :) watched some more vids by you, keep it up!
My partner could play halo infinite with below recommended til season 3, now it won't open anymore :)
They've utterly locked out older cards from trying let alone running "well"
I know you covered this too but jeez, it's annoying, i wanted to play with them :P
But yeah it tries opening on steam, nothing opens, nothing tries. Just steam button goes from "play > stop > play" before and after clicking.
It was a 1060 3gb indeed.
Before season 3, it worked just fine, maybe 40-60fps

i got a 3080ti for halo infinite around season 2 launch
and now since season 3 ive been geting poor performance and frame shuddering and crashing
the opposite is true for me. my laptop that has a 1650 runs fine on all maps. the only issues and crashes I have had are to do with losing internet connection. nothing to do with the game. maybe, I am just lucky.🤷♂
sad considering the game was DESIGNED TO RUN ON AN OG xbox one .....supposedly?
Yeah, still runs, but not on these GPU’s.
It does cuz I have Xbox one but shit takes forever to load there’s a slight input lag unless I put it on my monitor instead of my tv and half the time the graphics can’t load the textures and shits glitchy from time to time
I got a 1060 6GB, the games launches but the performance got worse since the S3 update.
I used to be able to play at 60+ fps but now with the same settings (and even with the worst video settings possible) i can't reach 60fps.
BTB is basically unplayable while in 4v4 arena i get around 45fps but i get frequent dips that makes playing the game very frustrating.

To be fair to 343, the update made the game significantly worse on xbox as well.
It made it worse, BUT it did not stop players from playing completely like this.
@GamerJlee very true. I'm just saying between all the bugs, pc and console issues, dsync, campaign cuts, and the store, 343 has managed to pee in everyone's cereal.

Gtx 1060 3gb: it happens absolutely nothing. You click play, 10 seconds of that Master Chief loading window, then nothing happens. Before s3 update it would give me a warning about Vram, but I could press to proceed and the game would run 60 fps stable:was even better than my brother's which has much better pc but faced more crashes than me.
Most laughable thing is that the xbox app after these non-startups shows me an ironic "HALO INFINITE: Should run perfectly on this pc" lol

I don’t think that’s completely true because there’s tons of competitive players, that play free to play games like Apex, CSGO, League of Legends, and others, and that’s the market that they should be aiming for. They need to learn how to optimize their game, and they clearly can’t do that.
Haven't had any issues but im playing on a Xbox series S that I just bought. So to me I upgraded and it looks way better than xbox one S. Not saying much for the guys with super high tech graphic cards
Anyone who's having trouble with performance stability still try turning down your resolution scaling to 75%. Greatly boosts performance and the image quality barely suffers especially considering this isn't a great looking game in 2023

This is actually true, got 980ti was great before the update. Some map not playable even low settings. Been a fan since Halo 2. 343 need to fix this BS.
that card has way more than 3 GB of VRAM. That one might just be an actual bug.

@@goku546686 Cool, you got a card that works, but there are many less fortunate people, and I can’t think of a single game that locks you out just because you don’t meet the minimum specs. That’s the awesome thing about PC gaming, it’s the option to try and optimize even when you don’t meet the standards. Some people enjoy things even when they can’t hit 60 FPS. I say let them, like I told the story in my video, my friend wanted to play with us, but didn’t have a graphics card that hit the minimum, but he still had fun on that crappy GPU.
@GamerJlee ahh my bad I was trying to reply to a comment with my initial comment. My gpu isn't anything crazy but overclocked it runs infinite at 60 fps. Honestly a 1660 isn't even expensive compared to plenty of other gpu. But games just have limitations on old tech that can run it. It's like being upset an iPhone 4 doesn't get more ios updates. The hardware just can't handle it without breaking. Programming and stuff got more capacitive and demanding on parts.
@GamerJlee I can think of literally every game on steam. It literally tells you system requirements for your pc. And yes the Microsoft store on pc will tell you too. Although there are a few steam games that can basically be run off a potato, if you don't meet the minimum requirements you can't play it. Either because steam won't allow you to even launch it or you do launch it and either watch your pc crash, brick itself or just fry components if the machine/ parts are old enough to not have built in failsafe. The point is it literally makes nothing but sense for a game to not allow you to play it when your cpu, cpu or all the above aren't capable of running it. Games these days have pretty heavy requirements due to higher graphics the community demand for vast and/or replayable content. I mean I don't quite get the disconnect here. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything but there is only so much old components will be able to carry you. It's like a new phone most need one every 4 years now with all the new software and other fast growing technological advances. If you can't run infinite you will never run a single unreal engine 5 game at stable fps. It's just boils down to the limitations of the hardware and how much it can handle. And there is nothing you can do aside from upgrade those parts if you want to keep up to speed with modern games and gaming

@@GamerJlee I'll be getting an rtx 4090 with a 12900 minimum and honestly if Infinite still has issues I won't even be mad, that'd just be hilarious.
@@NoiriumIdk it’s understandable that part is hilarious because they can’t optimize the game for shit, but locking people out of the game they are running older hardware is ludicrous. Let people at least tried to run the game and if they don’t like it, they don’t have to continue playing it. And can upgrade later.
