They're just not paying enough. Nobody can live on $11 an hour. You have to first be able to AFFORD to help others. Nobody wants to end up homeless due to helping others. They need to pay their workers $15 got the type of work they are doing.
@@mitchellspears4626 As someone who currently lives in a group home, I can honestly comfirm, they treat group home residents like prisoners and force them to do things that they don't wanna do. There's no such thing as freedom once you move into one. Not just that, most people who work for the group home are unhappy with their jobs, and a lot of staff members are quitting in droves, because they don't wanna deal with a buncha socially outcasted freaks.
I believe it’s a little bit more than just inability to find people or budgets one major problem they have is they employee direct support people as entry level where it should be something more of a career that you obtain at a college with training second I know when my state most of these positions require a drivers license is so if you can’t drive you can’t work for this type of job depending on the level of care a person needs the people that need the most support are often treated like objects and set up people just checking boxes on a checklist rather than having them a part of the community or acting like you really care about them I think the Group home level of care should be outlawed and shared living should be the new model of care for people to place people in families
Some of tge facilities are unprofessional and treat people like crap. The PPE is not up to date most of the time. I was hurt lifting soneone who required a lift and reported it. Management was mad at me. I had been tellong them she neede a lift
I used to work in a group home and were expected to not see it that way. There is a disconnect. They attack you, sexually assault you and know they will get away with it. The house I worked at was aggressive and barely paid. It’s not easy.
Theres need to be a lot more trainning on teaching people. Not fixing there problems. That why they dont learn much. Goverment needs to stop controling peoples lives

I used to work at one and quit. It was super unethical work and I understand now why others refuse to work there.
I hope you not a control freack. There needs to be more training on Communication skills and treat clients like a person
Why was unethical about it?

I used to work at a group home, and it was horrible. But I think it would be even worse to live at one as a client.
shortage of staff? well that is because they pay crap and treat thier staff like crap.
Agreed!

@@zythr9999 I was just hired on recently at a place like this. Starting pay is $13.
You learn how much the owners are making and then they want to pay the workers nothing while they get rich
