Not gonna lie Even when I see the “No matter what” ideology of Elita to win the war and her own suffering that lead to her becoming what she is For me it’s not that Optimus chose Earth over Cybertron It’s that he chose LIFE over the war in general Elita is right on looking for anything that could help their home planet but earth had nothing to do with it, the billions of people on the planet didn’t chose to be part of the war, why do they have to die for Cybertron to live? Remember, Optimus main known motto is “Life is the right of all sentient beings” for a reason, that’s why he couldn’t do it
@@Wreckedftfoxy Because to begin with, the whole point of the war is to conquer Cybertron. The Autobots fight not for anyone's freedom, but just their own, and the Decepticons fight mainly to be able to lord over the Autobots, and conquering Cybertron is what allows either faction to turn that goal real.
I feel so bad for both Optimus and Elita-one, I can understand both sides, but that panel let alone scares and saddens me because what if Elita-one tells the others left on Cybertron about Optimus’s “betrayal” and start an another autobot faction or heck what if Optimus finds out not all the humans are gonna accept them and try to hunt his friends down? This issue actually had me thinking about the ideas for future issues!
Most likely to happen : Optimus is confronted by his fellow Autobots on Earth, maybe Magnus particularly, but some (I think Beachcomber, Cliffjumper and Jazz) will stay faithful to Optimus. But Optimus' choice will be questioned when G.I. Joe will face them. On Cybertron, Elita-1 will tell everyone of what Optimus did, and there will be a few faithful ones, but most will just choose Elita as their leader over Optimus. On the Deception side, Starscream will come back and recruit the Combaticons, leaderless, and Astrotrain, while Soundwave, Thundercracker and the Constructicons will probably search for Megatron, in desperate need for a leader.
@@LadyMajolish G.I.Joe and Cobra are gonna try and find them... ESPECIALLY Duke, since he was given a picture of Optimus with Megatron's arm... (maybe from the finale of the first arc...🤔)
Elita breaking down and begging Optimus to let earth die was…it was kind of conflicting. No matter what, people die. Autobots lacking energon on Cybertron, or all of the life on earth. The choices the two made were understandable considering their perspectives and plights. Elita is somewhat villainized, but Optimus has made his fair share of compromises….this issue has given me much to think about.
Thinking from Elita's perspective, Optimus' love for humanity is literally inconceivable for her, why throw away Cybertrons future for some backwater primitives? Like dang, can't really hate her for pulling this stunt.
@@nothisispatrick4644 people like to simplify things as one person being worse than another, but both of them made similar yet opposite decisions; both wanted to save people at the expense of others. Optimus and ELITA aren’t perfect, but they’re trying.
The moment Elita was willing to genocide an innocent planet filled with billions of people that had nothing to do with their war, she became the villain. What she wanted goes against the core values of what it means to be an Autobot.
The most compelling part of this issue, I think, is how, on a bit of a stretch, we see a sort of parallel to Megatron's status in Optimus. In past stories Megatron was represented as this commanding, illustrious figurehead to his cause. His mere presence can transform the homicidal rabble of his people into a unified and deadly movement, simply because he is rarely ousted by his own. Optimus, on the other hand, doesn't have quite the same podium. Sure, every autobot loves him as a leader, but the differences from the decepticon cult of personality give autobots a more family based dynamic. There is a chain of succession, a sort of knightly honor to becoming the new prime. It's his duty, always, but the group knows that his end isn't _the_ end. So this issue gives us a grim reminder how, in this story, Optimus is focused beyond the war. He can't be that figurehead for the autobots back home because what's happening back home is what he doesn't want spreading across the galaxy. He knows exactly how bad it is back there, but has to put his principle, the protection of those outside the fold, before tending to it directly. Everyone, not just Elita, is broken in this issue. There's no reason, there's no silver lining to what they do, it's just war unending, and they have to hold that fort while their leaders are off on some metal age bioworld playing control points. The war is finally breaking the autobots, and all they can do is watch Optimus walk away. The benefits of Earth's energon were half of an excuse.
As a supporter for Elita and Prime’s relationship, that “don’t abandon us,” and “I need you,” killed me a different level. Don’t get me wrong I know “the real” reason she said those things, but I like to think that there was something else there, particularly with the “I need you” Such a tragic story
Perhaps they had a thing going on but broke up as soon the war took too long. Conflict in morals, Prime being the hopeful idealist, Elita being an "us or them" realist.
I certainly saw that as a sense of her inner wishes bleeding through. Even if they’re not in a romantic relationship, I feel Elita needs Prime. She’s tired She’s scared She needs hope
After the recent preview of issue 13, it does look like DWJ's plan is to focus on how most characters have changed through this war. Elita's desperation to save Cybertron from the bloodshed, no matter how wrong the method. Cliffjumper's want for revenge having been long stomped out by decades of fighting. To Starscream's apparent fall from grace from how he was before the war really kicked off. This endless battle has left a mark on most
This is possibly the best adaption of Elita-1 we have ever received. IDW’s version was an autocrat that was ok going to war to readily but this shows the desperation of war and what it does to a person. We never got to see anywhere kind of writing in the 80s cartoon when it reveled the female autobots. I will miss DJW when he leaves after issue 24
I think with what Optimus was doing and was seeing when crushing Shockwave's head like a grape was a combination of a lot of factors. Rachet's death, Ultra Magnus's horrible suffering, nearly losing Cliffjumper, and Sparky's memories. But more specifically, Sparky's fears! Unlike other cybertronians who get absorbed into the matrix when they die, Sparky was ALIVE and completely swallowed up by it to jumpstart it back up again. I honestly do not believe Sparky is dead, he's simply been converted into living energy. All the pain, stress, and waking nightmares Optimus was seeing set something lose in him, and it wasn't Megatron. It was Sparky. In that brief, terrible moment, Sparky took the proverbial steering wheel. And he had enough!
I love though in that panel where Elita is begging Optimus not to fire, you see primes hand twitching, and the fact that it’s Megatron’s cannon that fires the shot, I love the implication of that. It’s not primes normal ion cannon, it’s megatrons cannon like, Elita is begging prime not to shoot but prime isn’t the one firing, it’s megatron.
I did not like how Elita-One flat out lied to Optimus about setting the charges, but I liked how DWJ is handling Elita-One's character - she basically said they are starving on Cybertron, and when you're in that state, you're going to be acting in a far more desperate, almost feral nature. I'm starting to think that DWJ will treat Megatron's arm as sort of a similar plot device like the elder wand in the Harry Potter series or the "one ring" in the Lord of the Ring series in that that weapon has the capability of doing enormous damage, but with the Autobots being at such a disadvantage, Prime needs such a weapon to balance the scales. So, destroying it at this time would be a very "Optimus"-like move. But again, the Autobots currently need any advantage they can hold on to. Even though it carries the risk of it falling back into the wrong hands. My original prediction that Sparky's memories were going to be sort of a bridge for Optimus to connect with Spike. I now think DWJ's is using Sparky's memories as sort of a life raft for Optimus Prime's soul as he continues to rely on Megatron's power. Favorite moment of Issue #12 - Prime, has been written to be an extremely thoughtful and reluctant warrior shooting Shockwave's arm off without hesitation, even though Shockwave was holding the equivalent of a human shield (Cliffjumper). Finally, R.I.P., Carly's badass van. Looming question: where is Jetfire? I'm guessing submerged in the ocean now with all the water action going on. Dude cannot catch a break.
I been seeing comments that Megatron’s cannon arm is possessing Optimus with that one panel where his eyes suddenly turn lightly purple, I just know something was off when he finished off shockwave like that…
@@LadyMajolish - yeah. I don't think DWJ will go full "arm possessing" (think Evil Dead 2), but his absolute rage mode and possessed look while crushing Shockwave's head, then his look of horror like something else was taking over definitely points to some type of possession (corruption?) of having such immense power at his disposal.
The "are you kidding, I have to wait until November, or even early 2025 to find this stuff out?!" list: - Where the hell's Jetfire? - Skywarp's fate (inside Teletraan One after helping the Autobots) - Cliffjumper's fate (pretty sure he's alive, but he fell from the same height as Optimus Prime, who almost didn't survive his fall) - Ultra Magnus, where art thou?
@@natek4488 With Beachcomber off to save Optimus Prime's life, I'm pretty sure Beachcomber didn't free him with Spike so close. Also, in a future cover issue, Astrotrain is still chained up and in pure rage mode.
Though she is depicted a little unfairly, I love how she represents the Pragmatic Autobots vs Prime’s Idealists. War is messy and changes people, and Elita just adopted faster than anyone else. A lot like Shane and Rick in the Walking Dead.
Elita-1 is probably my favorite take on a character in Skybound since Optimus, it's such an interesting version of her and I'm so excited for more of her character.
Of all the versions of Optimus Prime and Elita-1s relationships this one is definitely the most messed up when compared to Animated, The Netflix series and even the Bayverse
but he can't look in her eyes. at the end of the day, when everything comes to shove, Elita loves his. she loves him still, she loves him so much, that she hopes that the idea of _her_ needing him would sway Optimus. she did not emphasise on "_we_ need you", she did not try to put the wellbeings of everyone on the forefront, she emphasized on "_I_ need you". after seeing him dispatching Shockwave, realizing that the warrior he once was is still there, she hoped that he could finally change the tide of the war, to squash decepticons, to fight by her side once again. I believe this Optimus shares the same idea as Rodimus in Last Bot Standing, even not to the same radical degree. Rodimus believes that cybertronians deserve to extinct, going as far as killing Nitro who did not resist or even shown any signs of aggression towards people of Donnokt. While Optimus cares greatly for cybertronians, he sees them as understandable sacrifice if it means saving humanity. betraying his own home planet, effectively destroying it, just to save a rock he was functioning for barely a week. "I need you." Elita is begging him to stay. Optimus does not destroy the Cybertron without hesitations. Megatron's arm is stretched forward, the fist is clenched, it's ready to do what must be done. but Optimus's arm is shaking, tensed to much that his palm bends outwards. and he turns away. during this moment, Optimus is unable to look Elita in the eyes. Optimus loves his planet. he truly does. he loves Elita. and no matter how noble he tries to be, no matter how heroic his actions are, he has to make a hard decision. because the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. because the needs of Earth's 8 billion people outweigh the lives of millions of cybertronians. because the needs of Earth's 8 billion people are way more important than his love for Elita and the pain in his spark but he can't look in her eyes
I like that the comic gave both sides layers especially Elita and Soundwave. It's a shame she became the Bayverse Sentinel prime in a way but her motive is understandable.
it'd be cool to see Megatron's arm slowly becoming apart of Prime's nature, like the red color on Prime starts to fade, peel and perhaps he starts to match the same shade of grey as Megatron's Arm even his blue paint is becoming black and he's slowly looking more n more like Megatron as sign of the arm's influence + battle dmg but thanks to Sparky's soul he's still hanging on in there
Not a fan of this Elita, but this is definitely a more realistic take on her and Optimus’s relationship during the war. That said, Arcee and Carly have proven to be great in this so far. I feel sad for Magnus. 😢 And Optimus as well. The Elita he MIGHT have once known so well…has now become so jaded and angry and helpless…that she and Optimus may as well be total strangers. Optimus is angry and sad and so very hurt by what Elita has become because of the horrors of the war on Cybertron. And sadly, there might be nothing he can do for her.
There’s a scene from Dreamwave’s Armada comic, where Smokescreen and Scavenger bring up the idea of tearing the Earth down to make their search for the Mini-cons easier. And Optimus angrily berates them for this “great” idea, asking them if they have mistaken themselves for the Decepticons. It’s a good scene and I wouldn’t mind Optimus having a similar response here too. Because I am fully expecting Optimus to eventually get to a point where he has to firmly criticize the idea that Cybertron is the primary concern. He is one of the few Autobots who’s well aware that this war…means FAR more than just Cybertron now.
Even if she has reached the point of no return, I doubt Optimus will truly give up on her. Even if it’s a detriment to him, I think he’ll try and at least reach out to what remains of the old Elita
Yes! I've been waiting for your video . I actually ended up liking this version of Elita in all honesty . I was abit on the fence when she just challenged everyone at the base and came across as abit unhelpful. But now I actually like that she's forcing Optimus to make the hard choices, Even Ratchet has a similar view and do I think she's justified in her actions?.. No, but I love what they decided to do with her. They're tired of fighting and it's taking a toll on all of them. In the Devastation videogame Optimus was willing to sacrifice Cybertronian culture and In Elita is the same version in Netflix WFC. Skybound is turning that up to the max.😅
i know but this version of elita didnt even look at the positives of earth like beachcomer off topic i think beachcomer should replace mirage as the kid appeal charecter
Imagine it was other way around. Our world is ending while Cybertron and Cybertronians go on their own lifes, we will make the most difficult choices ever. We would definitely do whatever it takes to save our planet, even it means let Cybertron to oblivious
DWJ continues to refine and perfect the best Optimus! ...oh, and the other characters are great, too. There's a lot to chew on with Elita, that's for sure.
I've seen it too, and the perception that Elita is as bad as Shockwave- or even genuinely evil- kinda bugs me. She's desperate, not malicious, and has more parallels to Soundwave. Glad to see you dispute the "evil arm" theory 'cause I'm seeing it as more Sparky related. The Spike memory timing was no coincidence IMO, unless the arm is the result of its being corrupted. I'm thinkin' OP looking at Meg's arm was a purposeful red herring because he's not seemed to connect the flashbacks with Sparky yet. I admit: I'm also a little confused about the Elita-being-an-Iron-Apprentice thing. Could you identify where it was mentioned? I didn't see anything the wiki page for Elita or Magnus.
Daniel Warren Johnson's writting skyrockets again for this one, although I'm saddened that he'll leave after Issue 24, because I'm in doubt if the next writter will be able to handle it, I'm not saying that the writer will do a bad job, but if the writer can handle the burden. But, it is sad to see Optimus and Elita torn apart because of war, and the way they respond to war, both want it to end, but their methods are different, Optimus wants to find a way that doesn't involve bloodshed, where the war he's in doesn't affect other planets and races. Elita wants the planet to be restored despite the cost, knowing that what she's doing will affect so many, but necessary. But seeing Elita actually admitting she needs Optimus, it's heartbreaking, because it's something to see when a cold and battle hardened warrior actually becomes vulnerable for a little moment. Both are broken, once together, now shattered, and I don't know what DWJ has in store, but what he has next, will always be suprising. ( Seeing the preview of Issue 13 will be interesting, Starscream actully being called Ulchtar[Did I spell that correctly?] before his iconic name, and how he became the deception seeker he is today.) Amazing video, simple, yet amazing, you thumbnails are amazing too, that it makes me wonder how you did it, I think you've answered it before. And, stay safe and sound over there, Delta Trion. God bless you.
Can you blame her. Elita-1 has been fighting too long since Optimus and his Autobots left their home to found salvation but she seen the horrors of war for too long seeing friends killed one by one torture and broken. She was alone leading the rest of the Autobots and I believe this was her breaking point. I hope she understands the meaning of life not to sacrifice a whole race who did not wish to be involve of their century war.
While Autobots vs Autobots is not a new idea, I do think they have the opportunity to do something great here. Pitting Prime vs Elita will be very interesting
While Elita’s desire to put Cybertron over the well being of Earth and its lifeforms definitely put her in the villainous territory, I can understand her feelings all too well. Unlike those aboard the Ark (sans Beachcomber), everyone on Cybertron has been fighting this eons-long war for _the entire time._ Millenia upon millennia of witnessing death, destruction and fighting for a semblance of victory and saving their home world would absolutely destroy anybody’s mind, and with a near hopeless situation of their dying world, there’s a chance to rekindle their home and make all that fighting, killing, saving and pain actually be worth _something._ And nearly anyone would put their home, family and friends that are still left above the needs of a strangers; even if it’s clearly wrong.
just read the comic for the first time this week. can't wait to read the 13th issue, personally okay with some of the more popular characters dying but i do hope they come back in the future, as for Elita and Optimus i feel so bad for both of them and hope they meet again and reconcile. One more thing anyone know what happened to Jetfire and Cliffjumper, Jetfire was shot down earlier on in volume 2 what happened to him afterwards.
@DeltaTrion If you don't think that she's going to become Blackarachnia in the comics, I'd say she's going to become something even WORSE!!!! More worser than Blackarachnia!!!
In his eyes he knew Cybertron was dead, the planet had become too unstable and inhospitable for life. Not to mention it would take thousands upon thousands of years to rebuild. It’s just not feasible for them especially with how low their resources are, they struggled to find enough Energon to escape Cybertron during the war. Optimus knows this and deep down so does she she just doesn’t want to admit it. Prime knows that Earth will be safer for the Autobots than Cybertron.
Alita basically becomes a deception, not in a loyalty sense but woth how far shes willing to go which makes me question, if shes doing the same thing as the enemy, why are they still fighting. It really shows how pointless the war is as a whole
Remember RoTF? The most hated transformers movie in history, which placed megatrons intentions as wanting to harvest earths energy to revitalize their species? One in which optimus destroys the very machine that would make said process possible. Honestly, if we had seen more of the autobots struggle, basically starving, it would probably be a lot more apparent that these moments are in the same vain. Not to mention, in both circumstances, optimus blew up their chance at survival, using a weapon grafted on to his body from a dead decepticon.
I like how in concept Elita One is such a nothing non-character who at best was a background prop in a 40 year old cartoon, but hasbro also strongly insists that this cardboard cutout is somehow super marketable so they've spent the last 4 years absolutely chokeholding and ramming her down the markets throat by putting her into EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. OF. MEDIA. but none of them have any idea what even is an Elita One so every single time she appears she's fundamentally different. Just like what windblade was. Nobody could agree on wether she was a magical girl, a game of thrones assassin, some kind of gypsy, a world ending amnesiac, an anime girl, or harley quinn. TF:ONE elita very clearly being an extremely low effort reskin of arcee down to having her giant ears and pink color also reminds me of the fact Bumblebee's apperance in both TF: Animated and the 07 movie were both last minute changes from Hot Shot (Which really makes sense considering how 'bumblebee' was written for animated as a reckless...hot....shot..). This is a huge blob of text so tldr; its funny that hasbro really wants people to like elita but they dont even know what to do with her
On the topic of Optimus killing Shockwave and his eyes going purple... I'm sure the arm and Sparky have something to do with it. But with Elita's dialogue there's also the implication that Optimus used to be much more violent. it sort of feels like this Optimus used to maybe be more Michael Bay esque. But something changed. I'm curious how they'll flesh that out
Every time I hear the words "I need you" "dont abandon us" I remember these same words I cried out to someone someday and yes I need them and she needed him but yes we are what we are called for
As much as I like what Skybound is doing to make wars as serious as they should be. This version of the war destroying the relationship between Elita and Optimus is what I don't like. Hasbro is writing it this way now, but the beautiful thing is that the love between the two, no matter how far apart they were, was what strengthened them and made them continue fighting for a better world. At least that's how I interpreted it for years... 😢
Reminds me of Grimlock from Fall of Cybertron. Both he and Elita chose to stay and fight, while Optimus chose to leave. But where Grimlock fixated on defeating Shockwave, Elita chose to conserve what Shockwave had built. As violent as Grimlock was, Elita is definitely more evil. Not evil as in typical Decepticon evil, but a sinister evil that barely hides behind a thin wall of morality. At least Grimlock was thinking that they cannot allow the Decepticons to use Space Bridge technology to conquer lives that had nothing to do with the war (that's why he called Optimus a coward for rejecting his proposal to destroy Shockwave's portal-making tower; they got a chance to do the right thing, and Optimus was like "nope, let's just leave"). Elita literally advocated for giving up on those innocent lives so long as the Autobots can keep fighting. In FOC, Optimus chose pragmatism; even if the Decepticons lost their Space Bridge, the Autobots are still outnumbered and outgunned, and will still get wiped out, and besides, Cybertron is dead and thus not worth fighting for anymore. In Skybound, he chose principles. Both he and Elita had barely anything left to lose, and Optimus has now made an unholy pact by picking Megatron's fusion cannon. At that point, he might as well be a responsible wielder of this new power, and prioritize keeping his sanity amid the war by remaining virtuous. Regardless, at the very least, Optimus is actually being held kinda reasonably accountable in a big way by people on his own side. Man, it would be a hell of a roller coaster if Elita-One recruits a bunch of Optimus' Autobots to her cause, leaving, what, Arcee as his only ally.
she is still evil in some ways she doesnt look at the positive sides of earth she just views optimus primes love for humanity as a weakness and she sees him destroying shockwave as a weakness is why i didnt like her
Good Review. Mixed Opinions on this one. It was good in action but I was very disappointed with how Ultra Magnus was handled. After fleeing the fight, he wasn't even in this issue. I figured Ultra Magnus would go through some PTSD Recovery and eventually confront Shockwave but that's no longer an option. (Optimus solos all the Decepticons and kills Shockwave) I reckon Magnus will probably end up being a useless character which irritates me. Almost kind of tired seeing Prime wreck the entire Decepticon forces all by himself. Personally, I wish Ultra Magnus was brought back in his de-armored Albino Prime Mode as a means to conserve Energon. Prime uses his trailer for an operating/battle station where Magnus used his as Battle Armor. I'd have loved to have seen him go Albino Optimus and make use with what he has. The two parts I did like was seeing Optimus getting corrupted when he killed Shockwave (Looks like Megatron's Arm is the one doing this to him) and where Elita-1 wanted to keep the Energon Shockwave harvested from Earth and use it on the dying Cyberton. Optimus wasn't having it and destroys the reserves which devastates Elita. Instinctivly you know it was the right choice from Optimus but if anyone was in Elita's Place, I can certainly undertand her pleas. However, I also wish it was Ultra Magnus that clashed with Optimus about using the Energon to fuel Cyberton. His torture, PTSD, strength (if these writers utilized him properly) would make him a perfect obstacle against Optimus.
I was also disappointed about not seeing Spike--and what the heck happened to Cliffjumper??? Did he get left behind with Elita on Cybertron? That wasn't made very clear.
Yeah... I was too - if only for issue #11's build up, when Spike saw the deer, and told Beachcomber that he knows fighting is wrong, but he knows he can't sit on the sidelines. Which, I was thinking would lead up to something in issue #12. Then... he basically sat on the sidelines :D There's still some fallout in regard to the whole battle, but that major "big" battle is essentially over (the harvester destroyed, Shockwave is out). Given how much was packed into #12, I have a gnawing suspicion that Spike may have had a role, but was cut out due to space limitations.
You know,i just wish they made of comic to explore more of Optimus and Elita's romance into further views then normal,i just feel sad to know that they are not a couple in the Skybound Energon Universe and Skybound Elita is willing to sacrifice one world to safe her own,i just know one thing, the next time Skybound Optimus and Elita meet again, both will try to kill each other, and it will be a hard choice that Optimus will have to make, and he is already at his breaking point,he lost so many friends,he lost Jetfire and Ratchet, but losing Bumblebee took a deep tall on him and it's only a matter of time before Nemesis Prime rises.
Me too, @DzoneMat - not liking how it's likely we won't know until at least November and possibly early 2025, since it looks like the next few issues could be exclusively flashbacks.
If you see the previews of issue 13 doesn't starscream have the wrong eye colour in that so would it be possible the new yellow dude they are showing off stolen starscreams identity and killed him as I get the feeling that will happen
So optimus just a coward who run from his planet and choose earth as a second home??!!! When he is the leader of a f*cking planet!!! I know all of people who in the comment hate alita now but think guys if u ar a f*cking leader of a f*cking planet and u choose to abandon ur people do you think the people who have hope on u and waiting u for so long still sane? When u life on happy life in another planet???
I kinda feel like skybound doesn't want to do a long run. They want to do a impactful run. Seriously all these heavy hitter themes in just 12 issues! Respect.
I agree. People have complained about the character deaths in comparison to IDW’s extremely long run, and yet, in 12 issues Skybound has had just the same amount if not more emotional impact. DWJ only has 24 issues, so it’s clear to see he wants to tell his story and tell it efficiently.
I like this more than the insubordinate Elita1 in Wfc, though after watching wfc I can understand that insubordination to That version of Optimus. In my opinion that’s not the real Optimus but the WFC story is Nemesis Prime’s real origin; it’s inevitable for that prime, in wfc they’re doomed to fail. But this is just my head cannon.
Elita one and Optimus has the same goal but different ways of doing it, while i see Optimus not trying to be like the Decepicons but i feel like he overdid a bit with the fusion cannon, i also feel like elita one was just a jerk i wanna see what the next issue is about
Ugh, i think i understand why they kill off elita early. Not because she is bad character but well thos issues this prove that she will bring conflict between her and optimus. And it's very heartbreaking like they ate lover but in war they either separate by deas or by different agenda. Which is sad Yeah i rather seeing hwr dead amd make optimus very guilty rather what i see in thia issues
Something tells me in desperation to safe sibertron she will turn a decepticon she its totally broken wright now im not sure if you not see transformers une yet but if you not i will not spoilers but i recommend it because theres a bot there that will pass something similar
I loving this comic but if i have to say something that i kinda didn't like was Ratchet. I was hoping he would have a little more impact and scenes. When he died i didn't believed because i tough they wouldn't kill him before we get to know him well. I know he is a character very known by fans but this is a new retelling so it should have to try make new people like him too. If you will give a sad death scene to a character make me invested in him first, but maybe that's just me.
Oof that’s really tough. My copy of 86 Prime hasn’t come in yet, so I haven’t made any comparisons. But, I think ER Prime overall works better as a general Prime that can go with other figures
@@DeltaTrion proportions on the er figure kinda suck though, but it does have better kibble management than the 86 optimus (apart from rubber butt cheeks that is).
Frankly, I don't know if Prime's choice was the right one. Is it bad that Shockwave is bleeding Earth dry? Yes, but I personally agree with Elita. Earth's resources may be the only hope left for Cybertron's revival.
Megatron lost his arm in a fight with the autobots and they managed to seize it with Megatron crashing on earth without it in arctic. Optimus loses his arm later on and ratchet attaches megatrons arm as replacement.
@@Darling-2003 no problem. Megatron is alive, but he didn't land with everyone else as he was forced out of The Ark after Optimus used his axe to slice off his cannon arm and kick him out of a hanger bay. He tried to hold onto the ledge, but he was shot multiple times by Starscream, losing an eye. This was how Starscream was in command of the Decepticons by the time of #1 and also no one seems to know of Starscream's betrayal which is how he went unchallenged for so long. When Megatron landed, he landed in either the Arctic or Antarctica, unknowingly got found and captured by COBRA and brought to Cobra-La where he was studied by Cobra Commander as what I assume is part of a plot to harness energon for fuel and weapons, part of this process was removing his other arm. Eventually he woke up and was biding his time until he chose his moment to escape. He retrieved his left arm and went on a rampage through Cobra-La, eventually losing his remaining eye in a fight with Gollopulous and his forces before finally making his way to the surface. He's currently blind, wandering around in a tundra and his top priority after repairing himself is getting his hands on Starscream and regaining control of the Decepticons. This was all explained in a Megatron one-shot that came out for Free Comic Book Day.
She didn't deserve this pain she didn't deserve this war. I don't blame her going forward in her motivation. Doing this, she chose her people. She chose her home, the fact prime didn't see that it's truly unforgivable. I'm sorry I'm on her side on this situation. From the beginning of this comic book series, I personally felt like this. Prime was not like the Optimus prime That I know my Prime would have understand the situation and try the resolve the issue. Try to ways Save lives not destroy lives this comic book is Painting a selfish prime clearly chose Earth. And I do not like that at all.
I really dislike Elita. I can understand her anger and desperation but she is willing to sacrifice one planet to save another. She is no different from Megatron. Optimus has made a few mistakes but he is trying to do the right thing and ultimately he has a good heart. He is loyal to his home world but he won't sacrifice earth to do it. That is not who Optimus is. Elita crossed the line when she started to emotional manipulate Optimus into going along with the genocide plan. She might as well be a villain at this point.
Oh definitely, she not strong enough emotionally. Like if i heard someone chose to preserved a planet of bugs over earth I would be pissed too, optimus only has that kinda of kindness.

Not gonna lie
Even when I see the “No matter what” ideology of Elita to win the war and her own suffering that lead to her becoming what she is
For me it’s not that Optimus chose Earth over Cybertron
It’s that he chose LIFE over the war in general
Elita is right on looking for anything that could help their home planet but earth had nothing to do with it, the billions of people on the planet didn’t chose to be part of the war, why do they have to die for Cybertron to live?
Remember, Optimus main known motto is “Life is the right of all sentient beings” for a reason, that’s why he couldn’t do it
This is such an expertly crafted comment. Thank you for sharing 💙
yea i agree, however is it a little weird how even the autobots choose cybertron over Optimus' goal of life for all? (had to shorten it)
@@Wreckedftfoxy Because to begin with, the whole point of the war is to conquer Cybertron.
This issue for sure has been one of the most emotional pieces of TF Media.
I genuinely feel bad for Elita 1, she’s so desperate to save her own people that she forget how humans are also people.
@@alexdurain3753 I agree. War can bring out the worst in people... 😭
Well put. In war, no matter what, someone is going to die. And she chose earth over Cybertron.
And in both option, the war is not going to defend, it just changes where the battlefield will be on
@@DeltaTrion keep in mined optimus has aways cared for human he sees earth as a second hom

@@DeltaTrionnope, it's definitely Megatron's arm corrupting him given the vision suddenly becomes nightmarish
@@MatthewLoh-ru1mw possibly! We will have to wait and see
The most compelling part of this issue, I think, is how, on a bit of a stretch, we see a sort of parallel to Megatron's status in Optimus.
Don’t get me wrong I know “the real” reason she said those things, but I like to think that there was something else there, particularly with the “I need you”
Such a tragic story
Perhaps they had a thing going on but broke up as soon the war took too long. Conflict in morals, Prime being the hopeful idealist, Elita being an "us or them" realist.
I certainly saw that as a sense of her inner wishes bleeding through. Even if they’re not in a romantic relationship, I feel Elita needs Prime.
She’s tired
She’s scared
She needs hope
every time I see the phrase "I need you" I just think of Evangelion now 😭
After the recent preview of issue 13, it does look like DWJ's plan is to focus on how most characters have changed through this war.
She really shows her true colors in this issue. The war has corroded her.
This just seems like all others save for g1 and Earthspark.
As much as I respect this direction I still prefer the 80s cartoon version
Elita in the previous IDW continuity is pretty much "the universe can die for all I care, but I will not let Carcer transform"
@ I hope there’s a redemption arc for her
I think with what Optimus was doing and was seeing when crushing Shockwave's head like a grape was a combination of a lot of factors.
Maybe, who knows? 🤔 Never thought about that particular part
"The needs of the many out weights the needs of the few"
-Sentinel Prime
Funnily enough, in the Q&A of the issue, someone asked about if Jetfire would ever catch a break, and DWJ said "Nope :)"
Elita's progression in this whole volume was wonderful writing. The real question is... Will she turn bad since Prime betrayed her?
I think she broke bad long ago, the main thing is now she knows what side Optimus is on
I think
The "are you kidding, I have to wait until November, or even early 2025 to find this stuff out?!" list:
- Where the hell's Jetfire?
- Skywarp's fate (inside Teletraan One after helping the Autobots)
- Cliffjumper's fate (pretty sure he's alive, but he fell from the same height as Optimus Prime, who almost didn't survive his fall)
- Ultra Magnus, where art thou?
What about Astrotrain? Did Beachcomber and Spike just leave him chained up?
@@natek4488 With Beachcomber off to save Optimus Prime's life, I'm pretty sure Beachcomber didn't free him with Spike so close. Also, in a future cover issue, Astrotrain is still chained up and in pure rage mode.

She brought this on herself because we all knew Optimus wouldn’t allow that kind of thing
Elita-1 is probably my favorite take on a character in Skybound since Optimus, it's such an interesting version of her and I'm so excited for more of her character.

but he can't look in her eyes.
at the end of the day, when everything comes to shove, Elita loves his. she loves him still, she loves him so much, that she hopes that the idea of _her_ needing him would sway Optimus. she did not emphasise on "_we_ need you", she did not try to put the wellbeings of everyone on the forefront, she emphasized on "_I_ need you". after seeing him dispatching Shockwave, realizing that the warrior he once was is still there, she hoped that he could finally change the tide of the war, to squash decepticons, to fight by her side once again.
"I need you."
Elita is begging him to stay. Optimus loves his planet. he truly does. he loves Elita. and no matter how noble he tries to be, no matter how heroic his actions are, he has to make a hard decision. because the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. because the needs of Earth's 8 billion people outweigh the lives of millions of cybertronians. because the needs of Earth's 8 billion people are way more important than his love for Elita and the pain in his spark
but he can't look in her eyes
The count down scared the shit out of me
I like that the comic gave both sides layers especially Elita and Soundwave.

But, it is sad to see Optimus and Elita torn apart because of war, and the way they respond to war, both want it to end, but their methods are different,
Optimus wants to find a way that doesn't involve bloodshed, where the war he's in doesn't affect other planets and races.
( Seeing the preview of Issue 13 will be interesting, Starscream actully being called Ulchtar[Did I spell that correctly?] before his iconic name, and how he became the deception seeker he is today.)
Amazing video, simple, yet amazing, you thumbnails are amazing too, that it makes me wonder how you did it, I think you've answered it before.

I love this comic it’s really awesome but super sad in my opinion
It's wild that we could see Elita come back as an antagonist, the autobots may have to fight off decepticons AND cybertronian autobots

When it comes to Elita and Optimus panels, Vampire Empire start playing in my head.
(Iykyk😭😭)
I'm curious how they'll flesh that out
Every time I hear the words "I need you" "dont abandon us" I remember these same words I cried out to someone someday and yes I need them and she needed him but yes we are what we are called for
Honestly, the song "Nuclear" by Mike Oldfield comes to mind with this run
These vids are too good
she is still evil in some ways she doesnt look at the positive sides of earth she just views optimus primes love for humanity as a weakness and she sees him destroying shockwave as a weakness is why i didnt like her
Very nice video!
Same here. I know we will see them again, but not even seeing them in a panel at the end was a little disappointing. Still, overall great issue.
Heartbreaking.
You know,i just wish they made of comic to explore more of Optimus and Elita's romance into further views then normal,i just feel sad to know that they are not a couple in the Skybound Energon Universe and Skybound Elita is willing to sacrifice one world to safe her own,i just know one thing, the next time Skybound Optimus and Elita meet again, both will try to kill each other, and it will be a hard choice that Optimus will have to make, and he is already at his breaking point,he lost so many friends,he lost Jetfire and Ratchet, but losing Bumblebee took a deep tall on him and it's only a matter of time before Nemesis Prime rises.
understand how elita feels but then again optimus made the right choice. cause elita's direction made her no different then the decepticons.
I hope cliff surived
Me too, @DzoneMat - not liking how it's likely we won't know until at least November and possibly early 2025, since it looks like the next few issues could be exclusively flashbacks.

Wait is johnson going to pull a transformers animated and turn elita into blackarchania and be placed as antagonist for the book
She is for sure being set up as an antagonist
I'm confused: When is it mentioned/implied that Elita-1 proved to be an Iron Apprentice to Ultra Magnus? 🤔
Im not too sure about that - but I'm pretty sure Arcee was Ultra Magnus' apprentice.
@@seanmccarthy8755 That's confirmed in Issue 7. Elita being another tho? I don't think so... Maybe it'll be mentioned down the line IF it's true...🤔
Elita one and Optimus has the same goal but different ways of doing it, while i see Optimus not trying to be like the Decepicons but i feel like he overdid a bit with the fusion cannon, i also feel like elita one was just a jerk i wanna see what the next issue is about
This Elita, is not worthy to bear the Autobot insignia.
To be fair, if I was told that the president chose a planet of bugs or earth. I would be pissed too.
Ugh, i think i understand why they kill off elita early. Not because she is bad character but well thos issues this prove that she will bring conflict between her and optimus. And it's very heartbreaking like they ate lover but in war they either separate by deas or by different agenda. Which is sad
Yeah i rather seeing hwr dead amd make optimus very guilty rather what i see in thia issues
Im curious to see how optimus' "older self" will be explored
Something tells me in desperation to safe sibertron she will turn a decepticon she its totally broken wright now im not sure if you not see transformers une yet but if you not i will not spoilers but i recommend it because theres a bot there that will pass something similar
You guys dont think elita is gonna become a decepticon? Ala tf animated
No, not after what Shockwave did to Ultra Magnus.
They put the side characters to the side.🤣
Have you been reading Void Rivals? Would love to hear your thoughts
@@lovescrona I have actually! There’s a video up on the channel where I talk about my thoughts on volume 1 and 2
I wonder if autobots cry energon
I loving this comic but if i have to say something that i kinda didn't like was Ratchet. I was hoping he would have a little more impact and scenes. When he died i didn't believed because i tough they wouldn't kill him before we get to know him well. I know he is a character very known by fans but this is a new retelling so it should have to try make new people like him too. If you will give a sad death scene to a character make me invested in him first, but maybe that's just me.
@@Shigaqui I can get behind this. While the constant death is used to good effect, it is still a bit much imo
I wonder if Megatron will do the opposite of Optimus and slowly become less..... bloodthirsty?
He's dead
Wait, DWJ is only writing up to issue 24?
Dear Primus, please don't let his replacement be someone from IDW!
Yep, he said after Issue 24 he's off to another project.
If you don't mind me asking, why do you not want an IDW writer to take over after DWJ?
@@isaiahsmith6016 Because IDW screwed up everything when they had the license. Constant shipping, injection of contemporary politics, etc.
This Elita doesn't care for 🌎 😤
Superman and general zod
Hey @DeltaTrion for a skybound optimus prime stand in, should I buy earthrise or 86 optimus?
Oof that’s really tough. My copy of 86 Prime hasn’t come in yet, so I haven’t made any comparisons. But, I think ER Prime overall works better as a general Prime that can go with other figures
@@DeltaTrion proportions on the er figure kinda suck though, but it does have better kibble management than the 86 optimus (apart from rubber butt cheeks that is).
This is more than meets the eye
Christ of Nazareth on the cross. This makes the War For Cybertron Netflix series look like Rescue Bots. 😟
Don’t throw around blasphemy like that, especially in these times. I’m only saying this for your sake brother.
🤣
@@AntiDecepticonCampaign What do you mean?
Frankly, I don't know if Prime's choice was the right one. Is it bad that Shockwave is bleeding Earth dry? Yes, but I personally agree with Elita. Earth's resources may be the only hope left for Cybertron's revival.
I'm not a big TF comic fan, so I have to ask.....why does Prime have Megatron's arm???
Megatron lost his arm in a fight with the autobots and they managed to seize it with Megatron crashing on earth without it in arctic. Optimus loses his arm later on and ratchet attaches megatrons arm as replacement.
So what’s the backstory of Optimus having megatrons arm?
You should read through the comics, or, watch the recap videos by Swizz Prime!
Fun fact: There was a collaboration between Transformers and Squad Busters with Optimus Prime and Elita-1 as new characters.
Why Optimus has megatron’s arm? Is megatron dead?
Do you want the answer? It's a fairly big spoiler
@@nickflaskett257 yep, I don't care about spoilers
@@nickflaskett257 thank you so much for the answer. I appreciate it
@@Darling-2003 no worries, you're welcome. 😁
Gee, perhaps one of them should either improve or see a cybertronian psychologist.
Shockwave aint no villain hes satan jr.
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.
@@tayojones9460 then there is the question, would you trade the freedom of one sentient to provide it to another that lost their's? Its like the trolly problem but entire species XD
I want that sunbow cartoon ( this comics ) Elita one design as a toy
