- About this game:
101 Dalmatians: Animated StoryBook is a 1997 Disney Interactive storybook offering young readers a chance to improve their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and problem-solving skills. Players can participate in four activities, six sing-alongs, and learn how to use a dictionary. During the game, players will join Pongo, Perdita, and their pups while matching wits with the evil Cruella De Vil.
The game itself is based more on the aspects of the live-action movie, with Roger being a video game designer and Anita working for Cruella, whilst at the same time keeps the designs of the animated counterparts. The game's storyline continues like the live-action movie, with Kipper rescuing the pups and the animals tackling Cruella in the barn. However, the game keeps the animated climax, with the Dalmatians covering themselves in soot and escaping back to London in a moving van.
In various pages of the game, you will find an area which gets surrounded by spots. You will be able to play a game when you click on it.

All of these deep memories of this game came flooding in when I watched 101 Dalmatians on Disney+ recently. This is sooo crazy to hear every sound effect and I can picture myself sitting by our family computer and playing it for hours! Thanks for sharing!

I never figured that out until watching the live action movie even though i thought it was just a creepy version out of it, and learned Roger went to being a video game designer. also, the dalmatians are able to speak when they couldn't in the live action movie as well. couldn't they add in Animatronics to make the live action dalmatains talk?

I love how Cruella throws a meltdown for the boomerang hitting the window. This along with Winnie the Pooh and Toy Story were my animated storybooks experiences as a kid, since I played Living Books more.

The music alone brings me back! Also Cruella's song about killing animals and making them into clothes STILL gets stuck in my head. "Rabbits I just love, but for the lining in my glove"

As an adult, I'm amazed that there's some vocabulary in this game like "sable" and "heartsick" that I don't even know.

On Page 5, if you clicked on the boot before you click on one of the three puppies on the chair, Rolly would say, "I bet you can't hit that boot." The other puppy responded, "Bet ya I can."
This follows the plot of the live action movie a bit more (with Anita working for Cruella in fashion), yet it keeps the look of the animated version. A nice hybrid.
+JJdaPK I agree, and it uses all or most of the original voice actors as well! Feels really authentic.

The character designs are of course sticking to the 1961 animated version;
Rodger and Anita's jobs however are the 1996 film versions (Roger programs video games, and Anita is a fashion designer working for De Vil)

At 28 years old, I've forgotten most of what I learnt in maths, but I can still remember the ENTIRE twilight bark song off the top of my head haha!
If you click on Pongo, Perdy, Lucky, and Cruella with a pack of soot, it makes them sneeze. Cruella even covered her nose to prevent sneezing. Lucky would say, "I'm already dirty!" before sneezing.

Yes! I always kept doing it to Cruella because she said, “Get that thing off me!” Cracked me up.
This was always my favorite one to play out of the ones I had. It took me forever to figure out how to play the video game, game. But I loved the music. I still remember singing all of these, especially the last one.
This game was part of my childhood.
Two things about the scene of 1:05:46;
1. They could have darker soot so that they would have actually looked like Labradors, not some kind of dark grey Weimaraner mixed breeds...
2. Cruella is right there when they are saying about dirtying the puppies with soot so that she can’t recognise them. Do they think she has cloth ears?

19:48: Horace tries to steal the old lady's handbag while she is feeding the birds but she catches him in time and bonks him on the head with her brolly and he is forced to crawl back into the hedges. 😆
20:19: Jasper tries to steal the baby's candy (quite literally!), but the plucky kid bonks him on the head with his rattle and has a jolly good laugh at Jasper's expense. 😆
I always loved those foreshadowing details in that part of the storybook, in how they showed Horace and Jasper attempting classic baddies' thefts but being caught in the act and forced to retreat, before Cruella gives them the terrible big assignment of stealing the puppies for her which we must help thwart later on with Pongo and Perdy's daring rescue mission.
