Classic Race Aarhus 2017, Onboard Kurt Thiim, Mercedes 190 Evo II DTM 1992

Watch Kurt Thiim pushing it to the limits again 25 years after the latest works car of the 190 Evo ran in the famous DTM series. Actually this car has been prepared by Mercedes Benz Classic, so again a works car ;-) , unfortunately the engine quit running pretty early in the race....

I was there at this event and took a ton of photos of all the wonderful cars. Although several of the cars promised in the programme failed to show up for the event (no Alfas and no Opels for example) it was still a fantastic experience and for many spectators, myself included, the best class of any Classic Race Aarhus ever, and the Facebook site is full of fans begging the organizers to bring this series back for another visit.
Unfortunately it still hasn't happened, every year the organizers say they are trying really hard, but every year it unfortunately fails.
I have a feeling, that part of the reason could be, that some drivers and teams are reluctant to return, since quite a few of the cars got pretty badly beat up on the narrow and deceptive street track... one König-Pilsener Mercedes crashed heavily in the very first practice session and spent the rest of the weekend covered up under tarps and a blue BMW ended the weekend slamming the rear end heavily into the concrete barrier, sending parts flying in all directions and causing a race-ending red flag.
I still hope to see the DTM Classics return one day, hopefully including the Alfas and Opels, just like back in the old days.

Can't believe the 190E is so much slower than the V6 C Class on straight. Hope to see the 190E DTM will lynch the C class DTM on straight.

its 59hp less powerfull, the 190 EVO2 374hp vs C class 433hp, weight differance 940kg vs 1050kg for the C class

Ich bin erstaunt wie der vordere Wagen abgeht ist ja der Hammer Sind das nicht identische Modelle oder liege ich da falsch beeindruckend wie der sich entfernt
