We lost a great artist, and he seemed like a very likeable guy. His roles in Cool Runnings, Only The Lonely, Delirious, Rookie Of The Year, even his despicable corrupt lawyer Dean Andrews in JFK, he was so good. Dead at just 43.
My older brother is a living "Uncle Buck". A little rough around the edges, always broke, but he would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I love this movie.
Some people didn't win all of the cash and prizes in life but got one great gift as consolation, which is a huge heart. I can feel Buck's character and style personally.
Buck literally dropped everything and moved to the suburbs to take care of his brother’s kids, despite not being close to them. He didn’t deserve being treated like garbage by his sister in law.
I always wondered why the in-laws treated him so badly. I think it's because of class. Buck is poor and is living in a rundown apartment, while the in-laws have a nice house in the suburbs. Maybe that's one of the reasons why the teenager is so difficult.
@@Setharino009 He was the black sheep of the family, living selfishly with no responsibilities and with many vices. He even explains it in the movie. That's not the kind of influence an average family-oriented parent wants with their kids. His character is sympathetic because he finally grows up in the course of the movie.
He was initially dangerously irresponsible, often drunk, smoked constantly, and had a temper. That was how we were introduced to him. Who in the blazing hell would prefer someone like that to take care of their kids? Good intentions is not at all enough to care for children. The movie of course shows how he could stand up when necessary, but the in laws could not possibly have predicted the future.

One of my favourite movies. I always felt that John Candy was simply playing himself and the bit about how pleasant and kind he was with all the other actors in UB confirms what i've always thought about him. Mr Nice Guy.
Minute point here...years back my dad was playing 21 in vegas and realized he was sitting next to Mike Starr. They struck up conversation. My dad said he was the nicest guy in the world despite his tough guy image. He even offered to have breakfast but my Dad had a meeting the next day.

I'm a big forever John Candy fan! He is totally unequivocally forever "The Uncle Buck!" All these later when talking to my kids (now grownup) they'll say or do something silly and I'll just say "Uncle Buck" and I get warm laughs and smiles. Even in 2020, it's our family humor lexicon. So many great feels and memories. Nice episode!

Yaass!!! I absolutely love this movie!!!
Buck Melanoma still gets me everytime I watch it on Thanksgiving
I'm a big forever John Candy fan! He is totally unequivocally forever "The Uncle Buck!" All these later when talking to my kids (now grownup) they'll say or do something silly and I'll just say "Uncle Buck" and I get warm laughs and smiles. Even in 2020, it's our family humor lexicon. So many great feels and memories. Nice episode!

I have a homie I grew up with who’s in his 40s that we call Uncle Buck til this day
Hey Minty, another great video! I remember watching John Candy on late weekend viewings of SCTV. We loved him then and throughout his career. He and the kid steal the show in Uncle Buck for sure!
John Candy one of my favorite actors. I was sad as well when he passed away. Thank you for giving us such great movies.
