Nothing beats the clarity of a sober mind. Personally, I don’t find the artificial buzz or high from smoking or drinking enhances my mentality. I know others have their own experiences but I find no escape from my constant human condition. However, I believe everyone can strive to reach spiritual-actualization without substances. I think that potential is within everyone. I think we have the ability to live in a state that people try and reach for when under the influence. It’s just locked underneath the surface. Our brains are just crude matter, the body just contains the soul.
