Karma deserves more treats, she does what she is told when's she is told. She is very patient and obedient. Yes she was distracted when there was noise outside. That is their nature, to protect their's.
I'm a American bully breeder and I train all my dogs without treats I give them over praise, this way I'll always have total control without having to give them physical anything and it works, its taken me several years to perfect but now every pup I rear is on spot. Treats are ok I guess just for a couple weeks but then ya have to trade it for over praise.
@@vixennem not at the moment I'm teaching my son to shoot all my guns as I believe this is the end time event waited for and I'll be looking for good homes to take our bullies because very soon there will be no food for us let alone dogs!!!
Old comments but I can't help myself. Awesome to see you training with patience and understanding. We need more Pit Bull owners like you in the Nation.
Vickie Bond I believe it, Sky is almost 1 now and she is still crazy!! :) Its really up to us to exercise their mind and body to help with all that energy. Anything from mini training sessions like this to throwing a ball in the back yard.
Very good. My new puppy is 12 weeks old. A boxer/pit-maybe? mix. You are well beyond my pups stage (but then I got her from a shelter a half week ago - and she was dumped by her original owners...so I don't know if they tried to train her at all). We are taking her out often - so fewer potty training house-fails. But one thing I HAVE noticed is that having an older dog (my boxer - age 6) makes training a puppy so much easier. She watches him and imitates MUCH more often than I ever expected.
Mc Kenna Congrats on the puppy. Yeah don't worry about any previous training because honestly you will have to retrain most dogs to follow your house rules and those could be different than the old house. :) Yes having an older dog does make training easier for sure.
Thank you for posting this! I just adopted a 3 month brindle pit bull terrier mix and will be training him this 4th of July weekend. This will definitely help. We are also crate training him and he is responding very well to it.
zer08927 Yay congrats on the new addition. Great idea to crate train, I do it will all my pits, it really helps with potty training and if you ever need to board them.
nice pittys you have just started training mine shes only 6 weeks and already doing pretty good, she knows the basics like sit, lay down and and also her name
Just a friendly reminder, if there are negative comments or arguing conversation in the comments I will be deleting them. Thank you all for taking the time to watch and comment. Please keep it clean!
+rollingdutchHTB As long as your apartment complex allows pits then yes. I had Karma in an apartment for over 5yrs. As long as you walk them twice a day to get out energy and crate train they do fine.
+Danika Dumais I love Rottweiler's as well. For A long time that's all I wanted, until I owned a Pit, I fell in love with the pit and will prob only ever own this breed! :)
Very good! I'll be checking all your videos. I pick up my pittie/mix next Saturday. They were abandoned pups so not sure of age but between 2 and 3 months (she got neutered today). So excited and want to begin training as soon as possible!
So it's pretty cute, our new pup diesel loves this video, he's 11 weeks old and he watched the whole thing and when I turned it off he freaked out until he turned it back on. He Barked like crazy. The funny part is his moms name is Skye also
karma is so beautiful and well trained what training treats do you use, and do you have or can you make a video on the puppy biting and how to remain calm, and also lol discipline. I just got a puppy razor edge blue nose pitbull and need a little guidance on training her
+Regina Simon I do not use treats, I use the dogs regular food. Sorry I do not have a video on biting and will not be making any more dog videos. This just happened to be one of my most popular videos but is not what my channel is based on. There are a lot of really great video's on UA-cam about biting just search for them.
Thx for reaching out, I honestly just feed my dogs whatever food, I did use a puppy food when younger, and with Karma I had to feed her a sensitive skin food at one point. As well I just went with the amounts suggested on the dog food package and split it up into two feeding times. As far as snacks, I did not feed my dogs snacks, I liked to use their food for the training as well.
Hey there! I recently adopted a 7 week old pitbull and it's been rough. Do you have any tips on surviving the first few weeks? I really want to do right but most things others have suggested as well as articles have been off an on sketchy and unreliable seeing how well yours are with you I would love to hear any tips you may have on pitbull puppies.
Cass Hopefully I can give you some tips that will work for your situation. I need to know what are you having issues with exactly. House training, chewing, biting? Thx
Cass The crying will get better over time especially since your pup is only 7wks. That is young to be away from the Mom. As far as biting, this will also get better however you should try to adjust it now. How I did it with Sky was any time she bit me while playing I would make a loud nose or say No to let her know it hurt (even if it didn't hurt). This is how dogs communicate when playing, by letting out a yelp if they play to rough. I hope this helps. Let me know how its going.
Thank you for the advice! i'm trying it out and he does respond to it for what it seems to be quite well. I decided with the crying he wanted to be closer to me so I put his bed pretty close to my side on the floor close to my bed and so far his crying/screaming has died down A LOT. :)
So cool, my boys called Milan, he's 7 weeks old, I'm teaching him sit so far, but I don't know how to make him come, some times I have to put the treats in his nose for him to come, any ideas ?
That's great your starting young. Just keep doing what you're doing in a few weeks he will start to get it, stay consistent and persistent when calling him. Good luck!
My 12 year old bully started panting like your 14 year old as we where in the process of moving into out new house. 3 months later he died. Turned out he has an extremely fast growing cancer that spread to his lungs. He also limped as it effects bone growth. He passed before we even had time to get him in for a vet visit.m
Enjoying Lifes Journey we have just got our first pit puppy. He is 12 weeks old. He already has learned how to "sit" and jump for a treat . When we got him 3days ago he had never walked on a leash now is doing excellent. My question for you is does your baby sky breath hard when laying or sleeping? I have Chihuahuas and never seen them breath that heavy. Is this normal with bigger breed dogs in your opinion?just made his first vet visit for next week :)
Congrats on the new addition!! Keep up the great work on training :) All of my Pit's snore when sleeping, so I guess its a normal thing for them. One tip with a growing puppy is check their collar often to make it bigger as they grow. xo
+Nathan Selman Sky is the fifth pit I have owned, a lot has been learned from trial and error. Most recently I have learned a lot from watching UA-cam video's :) Basically all dogs need boundaries, you decide how you want your dog to behave and start looking up info on how to teach it!
Thanks for the no nonsense tutorial , it was very helpful for me and my new pitbull puppy. He knows the sit and down command but will only go down if I have food in my hand. Any tips?. Also how long should he be doing his commands before I add a new one.
Linda Rogieo Thank you for watching: great questions. A tip for sitting and down without food is to start having the food completely covered in your hand, that way he gets used to seeing only your hand not the food. Then you can ask him to sit without food in your hand and reward with affection, nothing to crazy though or he will get excited. As far as how long until a new skill is added is up to the dog. If he is listening well and doing the commands you want then feel free to try something new. You can always take a step back if you need to. Hope this helps. Aww love puppies :) Thank you for asking about Karma, she actually passed away back in 2016 at the age of 12. We ended up giving Sky away when she was one. So no dogs right now. Have my two daughters, so hands are full :)
What age would you suggest to start training my American bulldog and American Stafford Shire mix...he is now 8 weeks and I feel like time is now to start day to day training...I am impressed with your technique...I subscribed right away... would love feed back and can't wait for next video...thank you!
Your right you should start now. :) Unfortunately I do not make dog video's any more. Just this one from 2014, I keep it up because people are still learning from it.
+Alyssa Abernathy Sorry Alyssa No I do not have a video on leash walking. Karma is horrible on a leash :) she is from a line of weight pullers so she LOVES to pull.
Giannis Kavala- I have a 2month old female pit-bull and she does not listen wen I try to teach her, how should I do it please assist as I need to train her now. I also have a 2 year old male but I did not train him at all so I am hoping if I train my lil one she will help me train him at a later stage.
Honestly it is going to take a lot of patients and persistence. Every moment is a training opportunity even if you don't see it that way. I started sky with introducing her to the treats (I just use her dog food). Basically you want to see what's going to get the dog interested in you. Some dogs work better with a toy rather than food. Then I taught her not to go after the food, from there I went into more of an actual training session for sitting, laying things like that. I only train a new skill for about 10mins at a time, then constantly reinforcing it all day long. I hope this helps. Thx
Enjoying Lifes Journey Thank you, you are a star, I did as you said using his dog food and she now listens when I say sit but like you said its a long way and it need patience, lots of it. but thank you very much.
My husband and I recently rescued a 5 week old pitbull puppy from a home where his mom had passed away and was obviously no longer able to feed him and his siblings. The people the puppies were living with were not feeding him the correct food for his age and just wanted to get rid of him! We actually have had to bottle feed him for the past couple weeks! He has made SO many improvements on growth and learning! He now likes to run around and BITE things especially! How would you recommend having him stop biting my finger and start biting a bone or something else instead?
Hannah Billingsly How I did it with Sky was any time she bit me while playing I would make a loud nose or say No to let her know it hurt (even if it didn't hurt) this interrupts the behavior as well, is how dogs communicate when playing, by letting out a yelp if they play to rough. After he stops biting you can offer a toy or something he can chew on as a reward for the desired behavior (not biting). I hope this helps. Let me know how its going.
so couple of days ago , they were giving a puppy away , i think its a rednose but i think its also mixed its about 2 months , what treats do you recommend? or dog food brand ?
Jonathan Estevez here's a video I did on what I feed my pitbulls. ua-cam.com/video/fRIZsfDF1p0/v-deo.html I don't give a special treat, I just use their food for training.
I have a 2 1/2 month old puppy Pitt laila. She is my first Pitt and I am having allot of trouble with her chewing and biting everything, including my 1 year old daughter on her legs and hands. Also I have a 6 year old beagle mix who is not getting alone to goid with the puppy. She likes to bite her and play but the 6 year old doesn't want to. Can you give me some advise how to stop the biting and how to train her? Also how long and how frequent should I be training my pyppy? I would appreciate your feedback so much. Thank you :)
Yvette Ramos I think a lot of puppies have this problem. It will pass as they get older. Something's to help with now are to always watch your puppy, epically around kids and new dogs. I crate train my dogs so if I'm not able to watch them or I'm not home they are not able to get in trouble. If they get to rough stop them immediately by interrupting the behavior. I like to have a word like Leave it, that way if they start biting your paints or something you can interrupt them by saying leave it. In this video I'm training my puppy to leave the food, it works with objects as well. Another thing I have done with Sky was if she bit at me I would make a loud noise (like a yelp) as if she hurt me, this interrupts them but also lets them know it was to hard. Dogs do this with each other when playing. Training is an all day thing, always watching for good behavior to reward and bad behavior to interrupt. However if you are working on a new thing I would work with the puppy for about 10mins at a time. They loose focus after that. I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
I recently just got a pit bull puppy she is about 10 wks old having trouble potty training and my 5 yr old male mix is not adjusting as well as i would hope and he is snapping at her. Which he has never done with another dog. Any advice???? I could use it and appreciate it
Linsay Jordan The easiest way I have found to potty train my dogs is by kennel training them, having Sky in the kennel anytime I was not home or able to watch her. The kennel not only gives them a (den), they will not want to go to the bathroom where they sleep. While Sky was out of the kennel, as soon as she was let out I took her outside and we would stay out until she did her thing. Then again right after eating we go out until she's done. During the other time I would watch her like a hawk and if she showed signs I would take her out. Its a lot of work at first but they learn fast. We have a doggy door that she uses now and no longer is in the kennel. As far as your other dog, is he neutered? Sometime this is a factor, however a lot of times its just the dogs trying to figure out who's going to be pack leader. Karma did this to Sky until she was the same size as her and could play rough. Now that your older dog knows the younger ones here to stay, he's trying to reinforce he's the leader. Most of the time it works it self out, just don't leave them alone until you know they will not fight. Let me know how it goes!
This was our second focused training session. Training though is an everyday thing. Somedays she would listen the first time sometimes it took her a bit. Most times she followed the sit and wait for food right after this training.
Karma deserves more treats, she does what she is told when's she is told. She is very patient and obedient. Yes she was distracted when there was noise outside. That is their nature, to protect their's.
i love! how the other big one keeps trying to do things to get a treat so cute haha
Soooo cute
Poor dog keeps trying the whole cid

Thx
Enjoying Lifes Journey Thank you, you are a star, I did as you said using his dog food and she now listens when I say sit but like you said its a long way and it need patience, lots of it. but thank you very much.
neeziesta kay That is awesome! Keep up the great work :)
Do you make your own dog treats
+Crysta Chartrand No, I don't make or even use dog treats. I simply use the dogs own food. Nothing fancy :)
so couple of days ago , they were giving a puppy away , i think its a rednose but i think its also mixed its about 2 months , what treats do you recommend? or dog food brand ?
Jonathan Estevez here's a video I did on what I feed my pitbulls. ua-cam.com/video/fRIZsfDF1p0/v-deo.html I don't give a special treat, I just use their food for training.
Are you just training sky with just the puppy food? Btw you have very trained dogs. I have 2 pittys 1 is 10 weeks and the other is 8 weeks
Yes I just used the food. :)
Yo this is crazy 😂
:)
How long did it take her to pick up your commands?
This was our second focused training session. Training though is an everyday thing. Somedays she would listen the first time sometimes it took her a bit. Most times she followed the sit and wait for food right after this training.
Hello what treats are best for dog training? I have a 6 week old pitbull puppy
+Raided Congrats on the puppy. I do not use treats. I used Sky's puppy food. :) Some dogs respond well to toys.
