Actually not like that. He measured just the stick electricity consumption but don't forget the whole laptop should run 0/24. No, you can't connect the miner just to the wall adapter because the mining software should run in the laptop as well.

so you made $0.01, and spent $0.01 on power, so you actually made no profit at all, while being $80 in the hole for buying it...it's useless.
I suspect that all of BTC mining is like this. No one actually makes money due to the cost of power these days. A bigger piece of equipment just scales the losses up. While taking even longer to recoup the investment of the hardware.
@@S1lv3rdo7 I'm making money. my bitcoin mine is powered by used solar panels I got wholesale. It's small, and only generates about $15-$20 a day, but still, That adds up to around $450 a month. I've already saved up enough to replace the miner or panels if it fails. If bitcoin goes through another big explosion, what I've collected will make me a fair bit of money.
@@S1lv3rdo7 only when you get 1 dollar of btc and it cost 1 dollar of power. Then btc goes up to 10 dollars. You just made 9 dollars. I think that’s how it works

So you spend $80. It costs 1 cent to power it for a day and only yields 1cent back. If your expense is 1 cent and it gets you 1 cent back in Bitcoin I don't see where money is ever made. Am I understanding this right? If so I don't see how you are ever really making money. If I am missing something please let me know.

Your comparing it to US dollar keep in mind that Bitcoin fluctuates today can be worth $0.01 tomorrow can be worth $0.50
Like stock if the value goes up you can sell and make money.

You never make back your investment in mining bitcoin. That is my experience and opinion.
