If the attendants are alive in the shipping box how long do you feel they will be ok? I did get a battery box of 16 queens and my weather isnt getting above 50 to do splits. Will my queens be ok as long as attendants are there and there is water and food? I dont wan to do splits in 50 degree weather , would you? Looks like soon I can use them.

I tried this with 12 mated queens that were alone in their cages that I ordered from CA for $30 each. IT did NOT work! I put them 2 full supers above the queen excluder in a queenright hive and pulled a frame of hatching brood to put next to them. I had 5 of them stung to death by the time I got to them a week later. Very disappointed and thinking I should make a queenless nuc next time. $150 lesson learned.

Exley Farms it works best in a queenless hive and if you put a frame of emerging brood each side works great. My queen bank this summer at one point had nearly 500 queens in it. Triple brood boxes all deeps.

You can't make a queen bank with a queen right hive. It has to be a queenless hive.

@@parkstalley3641 I disagree, I worked with a queen right hive and it works - I did an experiment with old queen, it survived 7 days. It was on a top of 2nd souper (maind body, excluder, souper - LR hive)
