The alarm box has a set of cams that coincides with the number on the box. When the box is activated it would send the pulses from the cams though a phone line to either the fire house or a central station dispatch with either bells or ticker tape at the other end. If it was in the fire house they would listen for how many bells or grab the ticker tape and go to where the box was located. I was a firefighter for 30 years and they phased these out of our city in the mid 1980s because of the number of false alarms they generated.
Thanks. I had no idea how those things worked.
I was in a volunteer fire department in the 70's. We had a similar device in our fire station, but it controlled the MASSIVE air raid siren in the adjacent water tower. The device had markings for 1 (nightly curfew warning), 3 (brush fire), 7 (house fire), and 10 (OH SH*T!! It's BIG!!) . It was phased out in the early 80's because of the use of pagers.
This video is actual proof that Mercy does indeed move.
I was thinking she might just be a paper cut out.
Mercy is always hard at work 🎉
Thank you for the updates, Mike
I do love the update videos ❤
Seems like Mercy loves spending time with her pops in the garage. That’s cool. Thanks for the follow up video Mike
The firebox produces low voltage just like door bells from the 60s.super nice find🔥
Mercy is so adorable ❤❤
Thanks Mike! Always appreciate a follow up! I knew that Fire alarm thing was a find! Always like to see a Nice pay out for you!
Love you, Mike. Keep being you.🙂
Have a fantastic day Mike,
Nice follow up Mike and a well kept space. Keep making those videos for me to keep following so I can learn alot more from you. You know how to make things easier and more interesting information to use . Thanks for the update. Love ya Mike ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really like old stuff like that fire box. Always though a phone booth would be cool too. Great save get it in a collector's hands.
Great job. Looking forward to the next video.
Love the updates, that's a Lazer Disk player from the very early 1980s. The movie you would put into it looked like old vinyl records but they were encased in a square plastic box that you would slide in to the player then the player would remove the disk and spit the box back out. When I was 16, I worked in a video store that used to rent them, the players and the disks. I did have two player's and over 100 movies but sold them.
I love mercy. She just lived being around you.
The updates are nice and interesting as well! As Always, May God Bless you and yours!
Thanks for the follow up.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
All hail Mike the scrap god and Mercy the calm and collected.
Love your follow up and the price you get for your great job !
The Fire call box does not generate electricity, it just makes and breaks a circuit, like a switch , but in code by the clockwork mechanism, power has to be supplied to the box for it to work
Immer wieder tolle Videos von dir. Liebe Grüße aus Hamburg
Thanks Mike! 👍🏽
Mike that laser disc pre dates the DVD by many years. I have both laser disc players. One of mine came from a arcade machine.
That fire alarm box is a rare find.
Thanks for the follow up video and have a good weekend to you and yours.
I like how you show that you put in a lot of hard work to earn your extra cash
Great job as always
Thanks Mike. Love the follow ups.
It looked like Mercy was watching a tennis game at Wimbly. 😂
Would love to see another dive video from the river. I have been following you since you started. The river vids were so relaxing. Never thought I would enjoy watching someone digging in dumpsters so much. Thanks Mike, you da man!!!
Mercy the Supervisor! Ha
❤ the editing. All thriller/no filler. Oh ya! Scrappitty doo daa!
Thanks Mike for your videos! I'm watching from the south of Brazil, from Rio Grande do Sul. Greetings, friend.
Happy UN birthday Mercy. ❤❤❤
NNIICCEE HALL MIKE 😊❤ CHATCH ON YOUR NEXT FLICKS 🤔😉😁😎
Mike, you should weigh all your bins and write the tare weights on them.
THE RCA CED system was a rival for the Pioneer Laser Disc systems. It uses special disks that rely on capacitance rather than light to store and read data. These are rare but can be repaired. The disks are rare as well. Nice find if it can be fixed. I have worked on these in the past and unless there are physical or mechanical problems, the unit should be repairable. There are special reading heads for these as well that can be found and replaced if that is the problem.
Dan
The needle cartridge alone in the CED player is worth $100 used on eBay
Sell the needle cartridge by itself for $100 and the CED player for parts or repair for $35.
Thanks for the heads up
I thought it was a video disc player. Does it play vinyl? I collect anything to do with vinyl 💚💛❤️
The CED movies are a vinyl media format. Terrible clarity and spund. The players are very prone to malfunction because of how intricate they are. Having said thst. I love my Selectavision collection.
@@akafrosty6175 is it a vinyl laser
So cool thanks for the update. Love the follow-up videos
Go Mercy, it's your birthday! Go Mercy, it's your birthday!
Mercy was supervising!! 😂 Always love your videos, Mike!
I love time lapsed video, to bad we can't do that in real life would make things so much easier... nice haul Mike.
Love a follow up. That fire alarm is cool
Mike looks like you got a lot of good stuff. Thanks for the follow up!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That fire alarm box is selling online for between 250 and 600 depending on condition.
Thank you or the update!!
😃👍👋👋
A realistic market value on the fire box in that condition, being pretty much complete, is about $250 US. Good score!!
Happy birthday anyway!
You don't know your dog's birthday. Pick a day, pick a month. Give her a birthday that she probably never had go all. Out just because you don't know make one up. A dog is just like a human. We all have birthdays during the year, so pick a year pick it up in a day. And thank you for your video
Esta parte me gusta porque ordena y limpia asi sea hace mas facil la entrega super cuidence mucho
the fire box is an ultimate mancave item
Brilliant video, loved the fire bell box.
The other item probably needed a record sized disc I’m guessing. That noise sounded like it was trying to read the disc but obviously couldn’t…..
The RCA Capacitance Video Disc system was the less successful competitor to the Pioneer Laser Disc System. Instead of a laser, the disc was read with a needle, just like a regular record player, but at obviously different frequencies. In other words, you can't play back LPs on this this thing. They were not that bad quality-wise in comparison to the Laser Disc, but got in the market too late and didn't have the selection of titles that Laser Discs offered. The discs are harder to find now, but that do turn up occasionally in vintage/junk shops.
You have to have a disc to test it. It probably still works.
Awesome find
SOMEONE OUT MIGHT PAY YOU SOME BUCKS FOR THE FIRE BOX. DO Some Research on it. Thanks ,Mikey❤
👍👍🫵🪨 Mike what are you gonna do with that fire box? I’m a retired firefighter if you’re gonna strap it I’d like to get it off. You give me a price if I can afford it. I’ll buy it. If not, I’ll tell you flat out if I can or not, I’ll even pay for shipping Sincerely Chuck.
Two nice scores on that cat/ext wire. And yeah, when you picked up that RCA disc players, I was hoping you would do a little bit of research on it to realize that it could be worth something to someone, working or not working.
Even though you don't know when Mercy's birthday is, I'm wishing her a Happy birthday anyways. 🥳🥳
Maybe make her birthday the day you got her, awe bless!
the spaghettti incident😂😂😂
I just learned what odds and ends are.
Chicken Strips !!
forgot to add: CED stands for Capacitive Electronic Disc. There were special cartridge based discs that were used in this device. They are different from laser discs.
That Firebox uses the Clockwork to send a morse code message
Sure if you put a meter across it in continuity mode you will hear the beeping
It does not generate or use an internal power supply
😊
Мики 😎😎😎💰💰💰
Thanks
0:23 🇺🇲 Hawaii 🤙
Hey Mike~~THANKS for the UPDATE, BUT we want to KNOW what you got for this pile of wire too~~~~PLEASE???
money time mike
Bonus!
The puppy is the overseer
2:45 seconds... MERCY gets HER BED.....
CED was the format that lost to Laserdisk (which should tell you how obscure it is)
Appreciate yer follow-ups! What is that amazing wire sorting soundtrack ?
Hey,Hey,heeey... today's my birthday too😂
Look for the red button, got to be on there somewhere, keep pushing buttons, aaahhahhh
Hello good afternoon
Good video Mike 😊😊
Thats pretty neat
Cat wire and extension cord is pretty much worthless where I'm from. You'd need a pickup load to get anything worth your while
Some yards will tell you to save the plugs, they are brass, and copper, some yards take them as motors.
The common denominator about all the wire it's all copper inside
Nice
Could you imagine if that was a pile of bare bright instead of insulated??
The CED player most likely needs a new needle. They wear down like a turntable needle, and get dirty..
❤
bon courage
I like Mercy.
✌️
I’d do 150 plus shipping for the fire box
Ok
Only in America can you find $300 just laying around inside a dumpster!
Why did you not snag the metal studs in the last video? Ive seen you snag smaller metal pieces, that seemed a pretty easy and condensed score
Good Mercy tried helping her daddy
The Game Well box would be at the building if any fire alarm was pulled in the building it would start the motor running with or without electricity that why you have to wind it. Then it would rotate and it would send a code through wires like telegraph to the firehouse and that would set off the alarms at the firehouse, then by reading the code it would tell the firehouse which building was sending the fire signal. All the fireman hade to do is read the code and check the master list and that would tell them where the fire was. "LOW TECH" - -- - ---
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🧓🏻🌵👏🏼👍🏼❤️🇺🇸🙏
Just curious how long did all that wire take you to clean up
Is CAT wire copper aluminum tin?
Asking for a friend.
Do you really need to sort cat wire and extension if both are $1.25 per pound? Or is it to get the junk stuff out?
I love yours videos, they're very funny and relaxing. But, I really don't like the follow up videos. Keep up the good work Mike.
Do u strip this wires, my yard pays much more for clean wire.
EBAY HAS IT $389.99 ,, $40.00 shipping.
In regards to music, who is that playing?
