- This is a money pit and a huge danger. We are at a point where we have no idea how to save this renovation... and honestly probably no one is renovating Toyota Motorhomes. We are slowly being humbled and accepting that we might need help to move forward.

We are San Diego natives, married in 2016, and have always been called to explore the outdoors. As we tackle renovations on our Toyota Motorhome, we will continue to seek out new adventures. We started this channel to capture our experiences and share with friends and family :)

I know the feeling… I'm converting a 2003 Ford E450 box truck that the previous owner didn't take care of and lied to me about it before I bought it. Now I have a lot of rust to fix (floorpan on driver and passenger side are rusted through…I can see the ground), rocker panels, doors… and the engine also needs fixing. Thank god for UA-cam « school of everything », because I knew nothing of diesel engine repair. Next will be brakes, suspension, tires… I had hoped to be able to finish the conversion this summer and be able to travel after that, but that will have to wait until 2024 😩 Time, effort and budget that are needed are so much more than what I had planned. I even wanted to do YT videos for the build, but have only taken pictures until now… Anyway, I'm trying to hang in there like you guys. We'll both try and keep our spirits up ! Take care you two 😉
Ohhhhh shoot yeah! We feel for you! There’s definitely good days where you feel and see progress and bad days where you’re overwhelmed by the size of the project. Our plans are seemingly going to be delayed until 2024 as well. Just gotta do it all correctly the first time instead of taking shortcuts we may regret. But seriously, the time and energy and money needed is nuts! We wish you the best we will all push through it together! Look forward to seeing some photos!

2 years ago I picked up a 1990 Toyota winnebago warrior the V6 model. I planned on just fixing her up just like you guys. Long story short there was a ton of water damage and structural issues. I ended up tearing the entire RV apart just to have the head gaskets blow 🤦🏻♂️ The RV then sat in the garage for a year, I just replaced the head gaskets and she lives. Now it’s on to the build 💪🏼 keep going guys I’ve been watching all your videos.
Ohh shoot sorry to hear that happened. The really seems to be the story with these, always more water damage than expected. So happy to hear you’ve got her running and are back at the build!
@@JoeandEmmaLee it’s all good I’m actually glad it happened. Now I know the engine is strong and when she’s done I can say I built an entire RV. I’m a carpenter so that helps. 2024 I’ll be on the road! Looking forward to seeing what’s next for you guys and the RV the next video.

@@joekielbowich2660 we really appreciate the thought! That cottage sounds pretty dang cool! Yeah sourdough shipment trials have gone well so far. They have to be 1-2 day to make sure it gets there pretty fresh. We would love to try and get some sent to Canada!
Make some templates used cardboard will make it easier putting things back to where they belong also a good time to take care of any rust on that frame don't give up just take breaks week or two at a time stay motivated I want to see it finished good luck

If it was my job and you were paying me to fix it as a rv tech ( im rvia certified ) id seriously do one of 2 things 1st pull off roof totally and side walls as a whole then rebuild floor reattach walls and rebuild roof , interior last OR not tear out more floor then jack upside outside walls until floor levels out ,a pay a welder to weld in supports off the frame to supprt exterior walls and cross beams all the way across to support both walls then build floor on steel supports and interior last again.....i dont see other options to be honest. Id be willing to video call and point you in a direction but im on other coast and for me or any other rv tech to do that floor youd be at 8k just for a starter number but it would go up im sure.
Actually watch a factory tour video here they show how a class c is made and youll see how the floor system starts and youll be able to use that as a guideline on where you need to get too . If we exchange emails i can send pics of stuff i do so you know im not full of it and legit could give good advice
This is great info! Deep in our guts we thought taking roof and walls off would be the safest and most efficient way to go about this! And we definitely want to weld a steel floor to have a good starting point. Will on the floor you need every two feet you need a brace or crossmeber then 3 quorter inch plywood if you want go wood use treated wood

I'll give you $1200.00 today, that's because I've got heart. You went for the floor you picked the right choice, how about that? And everything else is build onto the floor system. Once the floor is down the sole plate which the studs are attached to will fasten to the floor. If the plate is rotten replace it and if the studs are rotting scab next to them attach to the plate then you can remove the damaged studs and take it 4 ft at a time to keep the integrity. Screws and glue. You guys don't need anyone to do this for you and when you finally finish this sweet baby you will own her! Ya Baby. Step back and take a break, it's summer time. Walter.
You are so kind 🥹 honestly such a true statement. The floor and foundation e the absolute key so we will 100% focus on that and then build the system into it in 4 foot sections! We don’t want to have other build it for us but we get overwhelmed and a bit lost at times. At the end of the day it will be so much sweeter if it was all us. And the amazing community supporting our journey!

Just pick up an early 2000's 4.7 v8 Tundra or later 2nd gen 5.7 Tundra and an OVRLND campers pop up and do your own lightweight interior build. The 2 wheel drive 4 cylinder Toyota RV's arent a good platform without a 4x4 conversion/engine swap.
That would be pretty cool. We will see this build through and pick something to do in the future as well! Appreciate the info
