As someone who's always been a fan of latin trumpet playing I'm surprised I missed this the first time I watched this movie.

As a Mexican myself, I thought he was pretty awesome.
El Macho feels like a Super Hero styled Super Villain. Like, he performs villainy, but he does so in a similar way to how a Super Hero performs heroism!
That's Mexican wrestling for you, they are not called heels they are called "Los Rudos" and they are equally popular as the rest of the luchadores. It's less about stories and more about showmanship for everyone involved which is the reason they always wear elaborate costumes and masks, just like supers.
"And when everyone's a luchadore ... no one will be," or something like that.

I’d been unfairly assuming Heitor Pereira’s music was boring because of the minions’ reputation, but this and Puss in Boots 2 have proven me very wrong
He’s a very overlooked composer, I’m glad he’s finally starting to get attention because of Puss in Boots
@@joellim6988 The minions went from nice little side characters to a pop-culture behemoth that seemed inescapable for a while in the mid-late 10s which makes them very easy to dislike. Imagine a middle-aged woman’s Facebook post about day drinking with a minion going like this 🤭🤫 and you get the image many people have of them. The fact that two separate movies whose title characters’ only coherent line is “banana” made over a billion dollars is gonna rub some people the wrong way

I love it how they somehow lose the ability to dive into an active volvano whilst riding a shark and being strapped with 200 pounds of dynamite, AND still come out alive, just from marrying their dream girl alone.

I ALWAYS loved that solo from that scene, every single time I watched that movie. It added to the drama so well, and sounds beautiful.
Heitor Pereira is an incredible composer and deserves for you to listen to his soundtracks in isolation. Next time you have some chores or homework to do, slap in one of his soundtracks and just enjoy it. You’ll notice things like recurring rhythms and instruments to signify certain characters or moments that you might not even acknowledge otherwise.
That is incredibly standard for a soundtrack lol. Every Composer will do this for every score

How did no one yet realised a detail, that after he hits the guy out of a truck it looks like the truck is tilted as if he was getting in it to drive and was too heavy, but in actuality he just lifts it and carries it.
Even though I couldent hear it this clearly without editing out the other sound this was why it was my favorite scene in the movie plus I like el macho as a villain

I listened to the full thing,and the 20 sec intro thats not in this video actually starts off with the main Despicable Me theme,then the strings and sounds start playing and we hear the vocals. Shows how he is stealing the spotlight during this segment of the movie
"As kids"... makes me kinda feel old because this came out in 2013 and I wasn't a kid... so seeing "as kids" makes me realise that the kids from this era are now adults...

I think I'll rewatch movies and series just to hear the music. I remember rewarding an anime and noticed a banger soundtrack that I never payed attention to because of story and what not. You never know what hidden gems are discovered if you dig hard enough
I can see why Chris Meledandri recommended him when working on Puss in Boots 2. I still wish that they kept some of Henry Jackman's themes from the first film cause I still liked them

I love how even though he was shown to be a popular villain, he still has decency. Pays for his drink, no casualties during his bank robbery, performs his most macho stunt without endangering anyone else, treats his son well, is kind and friendly to his customers and mall neighbors

My immediate thought when seeing the title was 'I wasn't a kid when this came out, I saw it in the movies a couple years ago.' It was released in 2013, it's been almost 11 years. I was 9 years old.
All the music in the Despicable Me movies is quite good, actually. It's very similar to The Incredibles in style; brassy, spy-esque. Glad to see this get some attention

Where is he taking that truck? He just walked outside and looked at a bank truck, saw the opportunity to take it, and then simply walked off with it. El Macho didn’t check to see if the truck had any money, it was just imperative that he lifts the armored truck over his head and walk off with it. That’s a villain right there.
