We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. About 20 minutes ago this model fell off a truck traveling about 45 miles per hour while I was walking home from the nearby store the truck kept going so I figured it was trash and removed it from the street. I realized when lifting it and seeing the JBL sign that the plastic bag over it probably meant it was on to protect it from rain. Rolled it home at approximately 1 in the morning and plugged it in, seems to be fine and I'll play with it later today as everyone is sleeping. Pretty impressed with it taking that fall and sliding about 80 feet and rolling over several times.

I just did a little research for everybody as I was actually curious myself. Pertaining what the actual wattage is on these party boxes made by JBL. Amazingly enough even on the website they are stating the peak wattage not the RMS wattage which is extremely unusual for JBL. I suppose the reasoning for this it's not professional DJ equipment it's just something to play around with I suppose however it's a lot of money and it should be stated. So to answer my question and in case anybody else is interested I was able to find out by contacting JBL themselves and speaking to the technical department. The actual RMS wattage of the JBL 300 partybox is 100 Watts RMS. That would mean that it's actually 1/3 of what they are advertising or misrepresenting. The partybox 1000 is rated at 1100 Watts Peak power however the actual wattage it is approximately 330 Watts RMS. They do not state the Distortion rate or the efficiency of the unit so it appears that JBL is definitely slipping when it comes to this line of product. I assume they know they're dealing with wannabe DJs will people that are throwing parties in their backyard and not professional DJs that throw parties for a living. So there you have it folks the actual wattage rating of these party speakers is one third of their actual advertised raining. I hope this is helpful for techno-geeks like myself as I like to know the actual ratings not something that is pulled out of somebody's bum. The same thing goes if anybody out there was going to buy a car amplifier. Those companies on notorious for putting ridiculous wattage ratings on the box and even in the instruction manuals. Years ago when one was buying a piece of stereo equipment the rating of the wattage was always RMS which is basically the continuous output power with limited distortion. When somebody is giving you a peek rating it's meaningless Peak is basically saying add a brief second at a certain sound this is the maximum that they were able to get out of this unit. It doesn't State how much Distortion it will produce or at what tone does it make that rating so pay no mind to those Peak or PMPO. Wattage claims. If possible the best thing to do is use your ear unless you're purchasing it on the internet in which case you're buying something blind. Good luck, God bless, hopefully somebody learn something from my research.🇺🇸🎶👁
A company that's been around like JBL is known for professional quality Equipment. I'm very disappointed in what they did I wouldn't buy this garbage anyway I'm just upset at their rating. Just goes to show it's all about the money they don't care about their reputation anymore apparently. When I used to go speaker shopping and I saw the name JBL on a speaker I knew I was getting something that was quality. Unfortunately now I have to double-check even JBL. I am also aware that they have a consumer line and a professional line. This is obviously there nonsense line something new.
This is the information I was looking for. The key word for wattage fraud is MAX. See that word in a speaker's description and you're guaranteed to at least cut the wattage in half. 1/3rd is significant, especially with a brand like JBL. Thank you for digging this info up for all of us.
It's a house party speaker. Something for the more financially stable teens and college kids. The Flip 5 is more than adequate for a personal speaker. This is the type of thing someone who just got into DJing could make decent use of at his friends parties.
@@konglee7284 yeah its a gimmick that shouldnt be there. will hardly get used. ill take a cheap dedicated sample pad over that any day if i wanted to do samples.
My opinion is that having 4 smaller speakers around the room or patio, set on 50 or less % is way better sounding then blowing insanely loud sound from one corner and people are unable to hear themselfes. But of course in some cases, maybe it can be usefull.
You keep the volume down as much as you can. Once its down the speaker is excellent for things like listening to ocean waves on a beach, all kinds of meditation songs, and if you are far away enough from civilization occasional black metal songs. Other than this the speaker is fantastic.
For anyone who wants to dj with this with a controller that doesn't have bluetoooth, you'll need to use the 1/4" guitar input. Otherwise when you use the RCA inputs there is a delay from the on-board processor that makes beatmixing awful. I don't know for sure but I think the guitar input bypasses the processor and therfore no delay.

We have a partybox 300 at the factory where I work. Is is very loud (even with all the machinery), need earmuffs when near it. The sound quality is pretty good to.
Well, the 100 is a bit on the light side regarding power. I mean you get 160 W, but if you turn the volume up at about 90% it starts to sound horrible. In fact, every amplifier (don't care how expensive etc) starts "clipping" at more than 70-80% volume. The 300 or the newer 310 (with wheels) are good alternatives. With about 240 W you get plenty of power for most users. I had a party for 40 people in a 100 m2 room and the 300 wasn't even turned up to 60%...with plenty of bass (X bass boost). At the late hours, it got 70% occasionally which was more than enough. You can't even speak to each other at that level, even if you're in the opposite end of the room! 🤣🥳🥳🍻🍻🥂🍹🍸
I was able to find a new one on sale for $900 US. Yes it is a very expensive speaker, But $900 is not too bad in my opinion that’s the cost of two JBL boom boxes and this has way more power. At the end of the day it’s a speaker and it should last for years and years.
@@tz177 Yeah man i did look at that stuff but joh its expensive!!! Lol A decent denon reciever in my country costs half the price of the partybox then you have to add speakers. A klipcsh 12" subwoofer alone costs more that partybox🤣

As far as the price is concerned I'm currently residing in the United States. However when I was doing my research on the actual wattage of these units I found many locations listing the price. The price here in the states for the JBL 1000 partybox was ..... $1,199.00 this price was through reputable retail locations including internet shopping. Not refurbished and not shops that quote one price and then try to switch you to a different brand. Which is known as bait and switch. I would personally never spend $1,200 on a unit like this. There are many other options in that price range and less. There are two reasons for this price. The first one is you are paying for the name JBL obviously. Secondly because everything is in one box it makes it convenient if somebody wants to take it on the go. In dealing with a situation where it's going to be stationary then it's money out the window.🇺🇸🏁🎶
Definitely a lot of money wasted on lighting, sound effects things that are totally unnecessary when it comes to good sound and value. As others were stating in their comments remove all the nonsense drop the price and now we're talkin. I don't know what JBL was thinking when they came out with these speakers. JBL was known for professional good sounding audio equipment. Not for a light show or ridiculous DJ sounds.

Jbl is owned by samsung now that's why
Mine doesn't get distorted at all...sounds great full volume pb100
Is it wireless?
Can someone can tell if the same speakers can paired? And play music at the same time?
1100 what rms or peak power
Yes
I was able to find a new one on sale for $900 US. Yes it is a very expensive speaker, But $900 is not too bad in my opinion that’s the cost of two JBL boom boxes and this has way more power. At the end of the day it’s a speaker and it should last for years and years.
What kind of controller are you using to switch between them
He uses Bluetooth

Just switching the bluetooth output of my phone

1st 1000
2nd 100
3rd 300
4th 200
5th boombox
6th Extreme 2
7th Extreme
That is what i think..
I am confused which I buy JBL boombox or JBL party box 100 ?
ashish saini 100 for sure
Go for the boombox. Portability,Bass, sound quality. Youll never go wrong with the boom box. I just bought it yesterday.
@@acguevarra07 give me an update on the boombx...i am gonna get the boombx 2...

Which is better jbl party 1000 or sony v82d ???!!!
JBL PB 1000 The best
That 1000 is an awesome piece of kit.
@Lil Nig Ga more like 1100 watts
Wonder if this partybox 1000 will beat the sony shake x70, i have a shake x70 but love that partybox 1000😍
Blain Barnard I recommend looking at other brands for home audio like klipsch or Yamaha
@@tz177 Yeah man i did look at that stuff but joh its expensive!!! Lol
A decent denon reciever in my country costs half the price of the partybox then you have to add speakers. A klipcsh 12" subwoofer alone costs more that partybox🤣
The 100 just shot up in price over the past few days. now its avg 350 USD. Was 249 last week.
Did you happen upon it during the boxing week sale first?
Exactly! I was actually waiting for the price to get a bit lower. Instead it hiked up to $394!
Mohammed Qaid
Dont buy it.
The highs are complete shit... non existent and not adjustable
Clarity just isnt there. Sent mine back.
Other than that, Its loud and has bass and is well built
Sorry you didn't like them and thanks for your input.
Got my pb100 for $229..... went back got another one a week later......bestbuy.....im hoping to get the pb 300 if price will ever go down 🤦
Can you connect this to smart tv?
I mean, you COULD - Bluetooth
Had the party box 100 worth the money but noticed with every jbl I bought even linking multiple together this was the 2nd to biggest I bought shit I used to skate with that thing with a strap I had from my jbl extremes
Yo is this louder than sony speaker mhc v71?
My question also. I have a v71 and I'm thinking of adding another v71 or just selling it and upgrading to the jbl 1000
Okay where can I get it for a $1000 in Nth Queensland
Not for a light show or ridiculous DJ sounds.
wow why did you not mention it has a 12 inch ported sub on the bottom
I have a 300. Great speaker.
The 1000 shits all over it, bigtime. Yes its not portable, but if you want something you can just drag somewhere, plug in and crank tunes that doesn't take up a massive amount of room, its perfect
This could be the entire sound for a 1000 person party. Sorry bo, your telling (porky pies) now.
No lie you have to hear it in person
@@Cotycjc86 Realistically it probably won't be quite enough for a dancefloor with more than 200 people.
I have 2 JBL Partybox 100's, 1 JBL Partybox 200, 1 JBL Partybox 300 and 1 JBL Partybox 1000 I have them inside my 29 foot camper all connected together and the sound it creates is mind blowing I might add an additional JBL Partybox 1000 but for now I am satisfied
Partybox100 connected via bluetooth? Is there any interference thru TWS?
@@sermieibarra8896 I have them run through rca to aux adapters too much echo through tws but sounds perfect and extremely loud also I have another 1000 and a 310 on their way
@@darrellyeager7486 which one u like bedt?
1100w means about 200extra euros for batterys. Dont understand why they didnt do it
just got the partybox100 for 219€ :)
thanks, thumbed up
Phridz where did you get it?
The 1100 watts means how much total power the speaker takes including lights and running software ..so having 300 rms isn't a shocker just a rip off though for 1000$ speaker
Why is the jbl 1000 louder then the Jbl 100 when it has lower db
So the jbl comes with an instant sound mini mpc 2000 that is recordable to play a sub banging intro track until you cue up next song. Wow.
Where’s the costume?
I bought my jbl partybox 100 at Walmart here in new jersey I payed 210 for it and we love it my friend and family member and is not to heavy so you can take to the beach or anywhere and is not to price so I love it
