Somebody said that one day and it freaked me out that I wouldn’t be able to plant things in that area afterwards, I want to landscape an area for my parents weve been struggling with a ton of weeds! I was going to tarp the area and starve the plants of water and sun what do you think I should do?! We have a lot of weeds and have been fighting them for years!

@@tanisgeorgetti7317 if you are going to plant vegetable or plants where you would be consuming for food I would recommend an all natural spray such as "Burnout"...or a natural blend of vinigar and dawn soap will work very well also. In my 10 years of spraying weeds we have had no problems with planting plants or shrubs afterwards since we use a lower mixture rate. The only weed control I know that would prevent you from planting anything afterwards were granual weed applications such as Carson. You can purchase the EDGIT PRO on either their website or ebay. Hope this helps!

For perennial beds, I find that using spray is not efficient. Overspray causes damage to flowering plants and trees, and then you have dead weeds hanging around for too long. I have gotten so fast using a Hori Hori knife, it is just as fast to use my knife and dig up all the weeds and then they are GONE right away and no need to go back and clean up the dead and dying weeds. There is no danger to wildlife and no damage to nearby lawn, plants or trees. I learned the hard way using Gly 4 spray. Just using my knife and good old hard work does a beautiful job and no danger to the environment. I have enormous and beautiful flower beds and not just a tiny garden either. I am no youngster, so I'm always looking for easier ways to weed as well. Thanks for a good video. I do love using my weedwhacker upside down to do edging. It works great.

Many seeds require being turned under the soil to start germinating. I control weeds without any digging and minimal soil disruption. I pull any weeds with seed heads and throw them away. Wet the soil first for easier pulling. I use Roundup on the young weeds that are not in vegtable gardens or fruit tree planters. Minimum concentration and spot applications only. As with any poison, the concentrate is the most harmful. When mixing Roundup don't get it on your skin. Spray by hand and close to the ground when there is no or minimal wind.

Its expensive but it saves on so many man hrs and it paid for itself the first day. Its Its highly concentrated, 1 bottle covers 4 acres. When we are in the middle of the season for any places that have never been treated we mix round up with sure guard and all the weeds are gone for the rest of the year. Iron sharps Iron. @@justinb1382 Nothing wrong with learning from experience in my opinion.. I'm no lawn expert, but that's my same thinking/reasoning with using a bagger especially in area's with Weeds...
Also if my understanding is correct a lot of weeds sprout there seeds towards the tip probably at a length longer than the average lawn.. So keeping your lawn Cut and not letting it exceed what ever the optimal height is for the grass type to much can help prevent the spread of a lot of Weed's ??
I put ?? because i encourage any input whether it be I'm partially correct or even dead wrong.. lol
I know it Definitely doesn't apply to all Weeds because last year I got a load of supposed Screened Loam ?(whatever the best stuff the place had) and instead I got a truck load of Crap Dirt with some Huge Long Weed's mixed in, I thought I successfully removed them from the Dirt before spreading it all over my lawn but I ended up with these New Nasty Weed's that when you try to fully remove them you discover a network of Roots connecting them underground !! So i'm guessing these Invasive Weeds & other's spread underground & not by shedding seeds ?? Anyone ??

Can you do a video on the right way to trim weeds in a front yard? I feel like I am doing it all wrong (just moved into a rental home about a month ago). The first time I did it I mowed the lawn first then took the whacker and went to wherever I saw weeds sticking up. They seem to grow back just as tall in a day or two. I thought about going left to right over entire yard but it seemed like it would take forever and weeds are not everywhere. If you could do a video showing the way that you do it would appreciate. Thanks! :)

You have to get to the roots .. 2 choices .. either hands and knees and dig for them or... use the spray to kill them for you

That is why we sprayed first to kill the roots and wait until the weeds are dead. There are some weeds that spread seeds from their flowers but you want to spray them before they bloom or go to seed and add a preemergant to prevent more from growing in the future

I moved into my house six years ago. The yard had thick healthy grass, not a weed anywhere. There is a bad hill out front; I see it slipping away every year. Now there is no top soil, no favorable grass; just weeds that seem to have a growing season; when one flavor dies away, another takes its place. I, too, have developed a weed trimming style: I start at the curb at the street sweeping upward, but I have to leave something there to try to hold some of the dead dirt in place. I found on UA-cam a couple years back, to lay down a certain bark or compost after reviving the soil and planting a ground cover (or something); and that no rain/water will wash it away...........Any ideas??

Curiosity question only: On the round guard plate to this trimmer shown in this video, is is something that came with it or something modified to fit on it? Is it a Husqvarna accessory or something? I can't seem to locate such at their site and was also wondering it it adapts to other models of the Husqvarna battery-powered line trimmers? Thanks for any into on it.

It was designed by a separate company called "EDGIT PRO"...They used to only make them for Echo and Stihl trimmers back in the day but have included other brands such as Husqvarna...I don't know if they will work on battery powered trimmers though. Edgitpro.com is their website

I never use herbicides in my garden. It's not natural and bad for the ecosystem. I pull the weeds in my flowerbeds or dig out the ones with tap roots and mow my lawn regularly. That's my take on it anyway.

The easiest way to get rid of weeds its by a good eight inches of mulch but first get rid of the big weeds and you wouldn't have to worry about it for a long time and if any grows back just pull it out as soon you see it stay on it and in a long run you save time and money

You are wrong about the glass pattern. It can make a small hole. I've done it a couple of times. Caught on my go pro. It's good you didn't argue because you are wrong about sliding door panels and the safety glass they are made from. They can fall apart in small square chunks or remain nearly intact with a small bb shot type hole

I've never broken any glass with a weed eater, but I have with my riding mower when I had the deck too low and drove up on the gravel pad. It broke a window in my car AND the front of my house. Now I move the cars before I mow and pay more attention to where the chute is pointed.

Depends upon the load. I don't run anything except blowers wide open, and my engines last me a very long time. Before shutting down, free rev it wide open for about 5 seconds to clean it out and it will start easier.

    • @firstname6208
      @firstname6208 2 роки тому +1

That depends on the engine. Homeowner engines are lower compression and not the same as a commercial engine. Most homeowner engines are single ring piston, aluminum cylinder wall and lower compression leading to exhaust slobber. Commercial engines have two ring piston, chrome cylinder wall, and higher compression, also a better air filter. Used exactly the same the commercial unit will last much longer, provide more power and not slobber at lower speeds. You really get what you pay for. Sorry, but lowes and homer depot don't sell commercial units, you must visit a commercial store.
