I agree, it also emphasizes the message being shown of "just because you're programmed to be a bad guy doesn't mean you are one", because each Pac-Man ghost has a different personality type, and Clyde's is "stupid" essentially, yet he's very intelligent and down to earth while communicating with this group, showing that even though he's programmed to be the dumb ghost, that isn't his real personality.

Kinda bummed they couldn't give Bowser something say cause his voice is badass on the games, but the fact that Nintendo actually let one of there beloved characters in the movie is good enough.
Bad guy doesn't mean they alway bad if we can feel it when we play game.Just thinking if a game was created and without bad guy, then how the game will end and what purpose of the game that we need to complete when we play.In this video said bad guy are program to follow the role in their own game but they have good heart and they don't bad at all
In the next scene we see Ralph being the only one sharing food with Qbert. This shows us he is programmed to do bad things in his game (although I still think his anger his justified) but outside of that he is actually a really nice guy.
The game characters are basically actors. For example, Just because James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader, doesn't mean he has to go around blowing up planets in his down time. He just does that for fun.
"Bad Guy" is just a title and a role in the game but not the core of who they are. He's playing the role of "bad guy" in Fix-it Felix Jr. but he still has a good heart, is the point. All Ralph wanted was to be treated as an equal to the other game sprites in his game, which isn't much to ask. The film is about overcoming prejudices and your own limitations. I think it was quite clever, personally but I've been gaming since forever so maybe I'm biased.
Bison is literally a mass murderer and leader of an organization that traffics drugs and weapons, it just feels so weird seeing him chill and not aggressive at all.
Ralph's intro and this part IMO is easily one of the best beginnings to a movie ever. In 5 minutes we're introduced to the main character, given his motivations, feelings, and beliefs, and made to sympathize with his plight, and it's all done through a medium that makes the giant exposition dump that it is not feel like an exposition dump. I love the expression on Ralph's face as the pledge recitation ends and the camera pans to his face. You can tell that whatever he expected to get out of the meeting, it didn't meet his expectations. He looks lost, almost haunted, even. He truly feels trapped in his own life.
His facial expression is my favorite part too. Like this was the final place that he thought would give him closure and it just, wasn't what he was looking for. It's a good real world experience

Closest thing to a canon Eggman redemption story we’ll get where he is himself and not brainwashed… granted he also realizes that his entire life is code, I’m surprised no one here is going through a Buzz Lightyear dilemma where they think they are the real versions of themselves, not essentially copies of fictional characters… why the hell didn’t we get this kind of drama in the sequel?
@@hypershadix1 judging by Sonic Boom, Eggman's not really struggling with the bad guy stuff, or being evil, or scheming, engineering his plans into mosterous machines, etc. It's more like a hobby to the guy. It was so awesome seeing Kano doing his heart ripping fatality in a Disney movie. I’m surprised Disney got away with that actually. Also, holy shit. The Axe Zombie from The House of The Dead is there too. This is awesome!
They also showed a man get eaten by a giant robot bug and then his marriage partner grabs a mini-gun from god knows where and starts smoking the said bug
Ralph in THIS MOVIE genuinely feels like a 40 yr old who’s come far in life and yet unsatisfied with the cards he’s given and just wants desperately to live the life he’s always wanted. In the end he realizes that it doesn’t matter and that mentorship is a great way to improve someone else’s life as well as your own
+Arael, light of God that's correct actually. The directors had to go out of their way to ask for every single existing character to know how to portray them. Zangief, Bowser, Dr. Eggman, Sonic, Pacman, M.Bison, and probably the ghost monster of the Pacman games.
Sooo, we just watched a scene, in a DISNEY movie, where a character literally ripped another character's heart out, on screen, and in plain view, said heart is also still beating and dripping with. . .blood? Best. Disney Movie. EVER!
Aren't you a bad guy too? Shouldn't you be there too? Edit: UA-cam has only just now told me I've got people replying to me after a years notice.... -_-
Bowser: I have a story. Every year and every game, Mario and Luigi would jump on me and make me fall into lava since I have to capture the princess as part of the game, and everyday my son, Junior, would say, "Don't worry Dad, we'll get em next time". One day, after my latest lost, I was ready to give up when Luigi came and told me that I am popular now for being the strongest character in Super Smash Bros like him being the fan favorite. So, I finally asked myself, "Why should I quit now? I mean, I'm popular now, it's time to step up my villainy and boss battles to make the fans happy.
@@lexramstudios1386 Eggman: I have my story to tell. You see, I am an inventor. A genius to say the least. And everyday I created something for me to achieve my goals. However, my game programming prevents me to do that and that Sonic is destined to defeat me, over and over again like Bowser did. I would try to give up but then I thought of something: what if I use all of my creations to make the game more difficult? That should make people to admire me! And so, from that point on, I began to create more robots to fight Sonic, and give the players something to play for
There's something magical to me seeing Bowser and Eggman in the same room fully rendered and animated. Honestly wish we got an interaction between them. I would've LOVE to see them talk about things like how much they hate Mario and Sonic and why they wanna take over the world. Kind of hoping Wreck it Ralph 2 will give us that

Invader Tool to be fair brave did something that hasn't been seen since mulan, have a female lead that wasn't a damsel in distress who didn't beat the bad guy because she had the power of love, friendship and singing, instead using her skills to win the day
Really, Bad-Anon had it right. And Zangief made a good point. However, they explained it to Ralph rather too unclear for Ralph to take it to heart (although he gets it at the end of the film). And Clyde took his time and explained it further, Ralph would have understood. Things like: 1. "Ralph, your job title may be called Bad Guy, but it doesn't mean that you are a bad being. Job title is just that. A title that comes along with a job. Off the clock, you are not a bad guy. None of us are. The world may not understand that, but as long as you yourself understand that, it's what really matters." 2. "I know that you don't like your job, and there's nothing you can do about it (otherwise, you'd be going turbo). However, understand that you are a VITAL part of the game, since a game cannot exist without you. Perhaps you can explain that to your NPCs. Even if most will not understand, some of them will, and that can only change things for the better." 3. "Even if others don't treat you well, as long as you acknowlegue to yourself that you are a decent guy in your own right, you will be able to find peace."
Yup. That goes for not just video games, but pretty much all media. Example: why is Dark Knight one of the most highly rated game? It's not because of the Batman. It's because of the Joker. That's actually why so many actors compete so fiercely for the villain position. Villains get all the cool lines, and they get to kick all kind of ass, until the necessary PIS does its job and end the movie.

I didn't understand it when I first saw this movie all those years ago. But now, Zangief's words are absolutely clear to me. Ralph may be the antagonist of his game but when the arcade closes, he's actually a nice person. The problem is people like Gene and the Nicelanders can't seem to look PAST that and give Ralph any compassion; even Felix is guilty of that (albeit unknowingly.) This kind of thing happened with Jack Gleeson, the actor who played Joffrey Baratheon/Lannister on Game of Thrones. Due to the cruel and unhinged nature of his performance, not only did he lose all passion for acting as a whole but people often disrespected him BECAUSE of how he played Joffrey. They felt he was just as mean, fowl and ill-tempered as his character
"I'm bad and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me." Honestly the last part of this quote has stuck with me over the years. Sure, this scene as a whole was amazing- Just a beautiful crossover of videogame characters in 1 room casually talking together- but for me it was 2:40 onward that made the scene so surreal. It really made them feel "alive". The room suddenly stopped being a brightly lit room. The neon rims flickered on- That was the maze. Disney/Pixar not only modelled all these amazing characters in beautiful 3D, but they also made the entire MAZE. and they did it RIGHT, too. The very next scene shows the full maze, and sure enough, it matches the game. Everything's there, all in the right place. The sound effects are perfect, the colors are beautiful, but the coolest part is how alive it feels. The scene is through the lens of the arcade cabinet. Everything's blurry and pixellated. But behind that NTSC lies actual cognitive characters with feelings and emotions. It's just a beautiful concept to think of.
I just love how they got BOWSER in this movie! Just casually sitting down with a coffee having a share. Just not something you'd ever see in the games XD

Ralph's problems hit a lot harder when you grow up. He spent his whole life being treated like crap and being feared by everyone when he's actually a nice guy deep down. Growing up, I understood that more and more. Zangief: You are bad guy, but this does not mean you're a 'bad guy.'
Ok so we have M Bison and Zangief from Street Fighter, Cyril the Zombie from House of the Dead, Bowser from Super Mario bros, Kano and Smoke from Mortal Kombat, Neff from Altered Beast / Golden Axe, Beholder from Balder's Castle, Clyde from Pacman, Yellow Robot from Cyborg Justice, Dr. Robotnik from Sonic, Saitine from Ghosts and Goblin and Mishaela from Shining Force,
that's what I thought too. Then I thought that it was meant to be a misdirection. i.e. oh it's just a throw away jo- wait, a second, turbo is a character?
Oh my god, I did too! I was expecting the film to take a radically different turn from that line alone. Like Ralph running around throwing out mad Psycho Crushers!

King Dedede was only a bad guy in Kirby’s Dreamland(and Spring Breeze which is a cliff notes version of Dreamland), possessed in the Dark Matter trilogy & Kirby Star Allies, and as a rival in Gourmet Race, Kirby Fighters 2, and Kirby Battle Royale. Starting with Kirby 64 he’s been seen helping Kirby out(other games where he’s helped include Kirby’s Return to Dreamland and Kirby Star Allies)
This was a great break to the generic group of villains trying to force the redeeming one to stay evil, they didn't want him to stay the bad guy because he liked him like that, he wanted him to stay the bad guy because that's his role in the game, if he defies it, it would mean everyone in Ralph's game would loose their world and be forced to live like Q-Bert who also lost his game

He spoke in Sunshine. Aside from that he says a few other words like “SHOWTIME!”

"You are bad guy, but this does not mean you're a 'bad guy'".
Anyone get that?
He's bad because he has to do bad things but once out of view he's a nice guy
All these villains seem so nice and friendly outside of their games and it’s strange because normally some of them would do very heinous things.
Think of it like actors. I heard the actor for bully Biff in Back to the Future is a pretty nice guy in real life

Really, Bad-Anon had it right. And Zangief made a good point. However, they explained it to Ralph rather too unclear for Ralph to take it to heart (although he gets it at the end of the film). And Clyde took his time and explained it further, Ralph would have understood. Things like:
1. "Ralph, your job title may be called Bad Guy, but it doesn't mean that you are a bad being. Job title is just that. A title that comes along with a job. Off the clock, you are not a bad guy. None of us are. The world may not understand that, but as long as you yourself understand that, it's what really matters."
2. "I know that you don't like your job, and there's nothing you can do about it (otherwise, you'd be going turbo). However, understand that you are a VITAL part of the game, since a game cannot exist without you. Perhaps you can explain that to your NPCs. Even if most will not understand, some of them will, and that can only change things for the better."
3. "Even if others don't treat you well, as long as you acknowlegue to yourself that you are a decent guy in your own right, you will be able to find peace."

Ralph may be the antagonist of his game but when the arcade closes, he's actually a nice person. The problem is people like Gene and the Nicelanders can't seem to look PAST that and give Ralph any compassion; even Felix is guilty of that (albeit unknowingly.)
This kind of thing happened with Jack Gleeson, the actor who played Joffrey Baratheon/Lannister on Game of Thrones. Due to the cruel and unhinged nature of his performance, not only did he lose all passion for acting as a whole but people often disrespected him BECAUSE of how he played Joffrey. They felt he was just as mean, fowl and ill-tempered as his character
It still baffles me that Kano is not only in a Disney movie but they referenced his heart ripping fatality too.
And not only that again but also they had changed his name from Kano to cyborg

Yeah I really started to understand this film like way after I was the target audience
Robotnik from Sonic, Saitine from Ghosts and Goblin and Mishaela from Shining Force,
savage642 The chick in red
i think that was noob saibot. I didn't see any smoke
jamesroad316 It's Smoke I checked.
But I don't get it smoke is actually a good guy in mortal Kombat and Kano is like a mix of him and Francis from left 4 dead
ajshim Yeah, that can't be right. Smoke is a good guy along with Sub-Zero. That has to be someone else like Noob.
Idk y but when m.bison said ur not going turbo are u i thought he was talking about street fighter turbo
I think it a double entrada of SF Turbo and the game jumping issue. That was the joke.
that's what I thought too.
Same. I laughed because I thought it meant that Bison was warning him about becoming a playable character. First big laugh I let out in the whole movie.
BenjaminSteber Bison became a playable character in Champion Edition, not Turbo.
I love how Kano managed to get the heart rip in a DISNEY movie
AND how Ralph said “thanks Satan”
My dumbass always thought Ralph called Satan "Aiden". 😂😂😂
The first time I watched the movie and I saw this scene, I literally screamed "OMG IT"S EGGMAN!" Then I saw Sonic and freaked out even more. I love this movie. It's just too sweet!
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Bowser and Eggman in this, thats so cool! Like what a riot, these iconic game villains you'd never dream of seeing in this context, just sitting down with a coffee having a share, that's hilarious xD
If dedede was here, he would say, “I NEED A HAMMER TO CLOBBER DAT DERE KIRBY!”
“Sometimes good men have to do real bad things” goes hand in hand with “you are bad guy, but you’re not bad guy”
I mean, that would also make Ralph homeless with them, so…..
How did Wreck It Ralph 1 incorporate references so well then the sequel couldn't go two seconds without shoving a pop culture reference down your throat to keep you from snoring
Differences in the culture the movie was aimed towards the first movie was aimed towards older audiences who would get the references to classic arcade characters the new one was aimed towards the internet zoomers
M. Bison: "Listen guys I can't do snacks next week". LOL.
The only good video game movie so far
Lego movie
Not a video game movie.
+Jill Valentine (Amos de Guzman) Lego batman in it so I consider it a game movie
Batman isn't a videogame character.
+monkeysvsrobots yeah he is in the Lego batman game series
Even if the Mario movie is delayed I’ll just enjoy Wreck it Ralph with bowser in it
Do you think it'll be this design for the movie?
@@lexramstudios1386 Nope
@@lexramstudios1386 lol
@@Floppinnotinflop the movie was still great! 👍
@@lexramstudios1386 solid 7/10
