  • This was my third restoration from scratch and probably the one that was in the worst state when I started it.
    Once again it didn't end too bad.
    I edited out the technical part already covered in the other videos not to make this one too boring.

    You do a good job of bringing these cars back to life.
    Otherwise they would end up doomed to scrap.

      Thanks for your nice words. Yes these cars were going to rot where I found them.

    Happy days !!! another astonishing restoration. You did a marvelous job....again.
    Excellent video.
    One day I would love to hire a 2cv and explore France.
    Take care, enjoy your Easter.

      Thanks for the nice words. A 2cv to play tourist in France is probably the best way of doing it. I have done a bit of that before i moved to the UK.

    Superb job for being a DIY restoration.
    But in my humble opinion you should pay more attention in restoring the little bits, for example handles, instruments etc.
    For the rest, I bend in face of such skill in fabrication and painting... can you teach me something? 😆
    Greetings from Italy!

    At what degree of corrosion would you just chose to replace the chassis?

    I am as impressed with your restoration skills as with your knowledge of the English language! Any Brittisch connection there?

      @OldTimerGarage  7 років тому

      Any Bristish connection for what? Learning the language? Not really, I just decided a few years ago that I wanted to live abroad, got an opportunity in the UK and moved... I have been living here for 5 years now so had to learn to speak properly haha

    J'ai beau voir pas mal de vidéos de restauration, je suis toujours autant bluffé par le boulot accompli! J'ai juste quelques petites questions: de quels références vous servez-vous pour vos restaurations, et retrouver les caractéristiques de tel ou tel modèle? De plus, au niveau équipement, en dehors de l'outil de sablage, de peinture et de soudure, y a-t-il quelque chose de conséquent?

    • @OldTimerGarage
      @OldTimerGarage  7 років тому

      Merci pour le compliment, ca fait toujours plaisir :)
      Pour les caracteristiques, je les ai apprises petit a petit. Cela fait bientot 10 ans que j'ai commence a restaurer ma premiere 2cv et je n'y connaissais absolument rien. La premiere que j'ai achetee, je me suis fait avoir et j'ai du la revendre en suivant donc c'etait une lecon bien apprise. En lisant sur internet, sur les forums, un peu partout. Si vous avez des questions par rapport a un modele particulier n'hesitez pas et j'essaierai d'y repondre.
      Pour les outils, c'est un peu la meme chose. J'ai commence avec rien ou presque. Un poste a souder semi auto acheter sur ebay a moins de 100€, une ebarbeuse premier prix de chez Leclerc (8€ de memoire). Elle ne tenait jamais la distance mais comme il y avait un an de garantie, j'allais la faire changer toutes les deux semaines environ sous garantie jusqu'a ce que je puisse en acheter une bonne. Si vous devez acheter du bon equipement, je dirais que le plus important c'est un bon compresseur. Ca fait une grosse difference au niveau de la peinture et si vous voulez sabler, il faut un compresseur avec une cuve assez grande et un debit important (pour la peinture ajouter un assecheur a la sortie du compresseur est une bonne idee aussi car un compresseur cree de l'humidite).
      Pour le reste, la plupart de mes outils sont de la recup, des promotions de chez Leclerc ou autre ou des outils que je me suis fabrique moi-meme.
      Une autre video est en cours de chargement, elle devrait etre en ligne d'ici ce soir ;)
      Merci de me suivre

    Awesome job. How many hours did you put in?

    • @OldTimerGarage
      @OldTimerGarage  7 років тому +2

      Usually around 1000 hours per car within a six months period but I was only doing it as a hobby. A very time consuming hobby but a hobby nonetheless :)

    One question, you do all work for hobbie, o you restore the cars and then sell them?

    • @OldTimerGarage
      @OldTimerGarage  5 років тому

      I do that as a hobby but I sell the cars to finance other projects.

    • @breo9807

      @@OldTimerGarage but, you never think dedicate restorate cars? Because youre great restoring 2cv and dyanes.
      One do you do a tutorial of how dismount a dyane 6 top?

    • @OldTimerGarage
      @OldTimerGarage  5 років тому +1

      These cars are pretty hard to make money from by restoring them. Their value is not high enough.
      If you bring me your Dyane I can show you how to take it apart and make the tutorial at the same time 😉
